I had a book signing today that went an hour past ending time---so many wonderful, fabulous people who came to get books and geek out about stories. And the thing I heard BY FAR the most often from people in the line for the entirety of the almost 3 hours was "We are sooooo excited about the #SeekingPersephoneMovie." And every time I answered, "So am I!!" And I really, truly am. This production is already blowing my socks off. It is so amazing, and we've only just begun. So, to tide you over, here is a fantastic shot of a portion of the set from our in-studio filming unit. We are thrilled to announce that Toby-Alexander Smith has been cast in the role of Harry Windover in the Seeking Persephone movie. Toby-Alexander Smith is a British actor who was born and raised in the West Midlands and trained at Arts Educational Schools in London. His credits include Mr. Bingley in 'An American in Austen', Gray Atkins in 'EastEnders' for the BBC, and Lor-ran in DC's 'Krypton'. Other credits include 'Flack', 'Berlin Station' and 'Doctors'. He has been nominated for several awards for his portrayal of Gray Atkins in EastEnders. The culmination of his storyline was nominated for BAFTA's Must-See-Moment 2021. He is an incredible addition to this powerhouse production, bringing his remarkable talent to this fan-favorite character. @toby_alexander_smith #SeekingPersephoneMovie

While location scouting in England, we got to spend an afternoon just hanging out with this actor. It was a wonderful bonus during an already fun trip. I was only marginally awkward (victory!), and he was absolutely, delightfully lovely. I am so excited for you to get to know him better!

The Lancaster’s and Jonquils are officially family now- and it’s the most delightful conclusion to both series! 👏 I love that @sarah_m_eden combined her series this way. It’s brilliant. 💡 This is one of my faves because we get to see these two beloved families come together in such a beautiful way. 🫠 How the Jonquils allowed Artemis to mourn the loss of her “Papa” was life changing for me. I don’t say that lightly. This is one of those books that really cemented ways to love and treat others better. 🫶 They could have easily dismissed her grief, or been annoyed by it, and it would have even been UNDERSTANDABLE…but they allowed her space to feel all the things she needed to feel, and bolster her when she was ready to heal. ❤️❤️❤️ It brings me to tears just talking about how kind and selfless that is. I want to be like the Jonquils. I hope I can be a mother someday like Julia. She is the best, is she not? During our in-studio filming for the first unit of the #SeekingPersephoneMovie, our fabulous on-set photographer, @annab.larsen, grabbed this shot of a can of sparkling water I brought for @ryannbaileyro, beside the can Ryann brought for herself, with @jakestormoen's protein shake lurking in the background. When we resume filming, I think Jake, Ryann, and I should recreate it but with ourselves standing in for our beverages. Made a quick drop in to the studio to have a peek at the #SeekingPersephoneMovie sets. To say I was giddy would be a ridiculous understatement. 🥰
Progress. I’ve been consuming about 1500-1700 calories a day for the last two-ish weeks in the final phase of my 8-week nutrition course leading up to filming. I’m down about 8lbs so far with a couple more likely to drop before we start. The character I’m playing in “Seeking Persephone,” Adam Boyce, is a Duke who has a reputation for a short temper and for winning the fights he gets into…while maybe deep down being alarmingly sentimental and fiercely protective of those he loves. As such, I wanted to tighten things up a bit. I wanted him to look primed and ready, not soft or slow. I also wanted him to fit early 1800s realism. An athletic, practical body over a movie/gym rat body. I don’t know if I’ve done it…but that was the goal. When I was in the best shape of my life during the first couple seasons of #TheOutpost (before COVID hit and shut down gyms), I was two pounds lighter than I am currently, but wasn’t lifting as much as I am now. It’s good to be back. Real good. Find your goals. Find your path. Then enjoy the journey, no matter how fast or slow it takes—we’re all different. Have a great weekend, friends. ❤️ Be kind. Be smart. Anyone else feel they are a member of the Lancaster/Jonquil family and question if it’s a healthy fantasy? Or is it just me? “I am the Duke of Kielder. I am the law.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I haven’t posted a review on my feed in so long! I missed reading. I picked up this book Saturday morning and finished it that night. It’s still one of my top 5 favorites. I love Adam and Persephone so much. I know Sarah will do the movie justice and I can’t wait to watch it sometime! Some characters fill my mind while my eyes are on the page, and I adore them. Like great acquaintances that bring light to your life. Other characters stay with me as I weigh their circumstances, their responses, and their hearts. These are characters that I find myself measuring other characters against (while still appreciating the others). Here are my favorites: Thor from Sons of Blackbird Mountain by @joannebischof Quite possibly my favorite character of all time. He is strong and good (not perfect) and just so full of integrity. His communication is beautiful. Tennyson from A Madness Most Discreet by @nicholevan He’s literally a big (emotion) feeler. Justin from The Matrimonial Advertisement by @mimimatthewsesq One word on him? Safe. Red Shirt from Courting Morrow Little by @laurafrantzauthor He leads gently, but with strength. Marcus from The Gentleman Spy by @ericavetsch He appears at some point in many of Erica’s Regency books, and I think I give a soft sigh every time. Adam-Duke of Kielder from Seeking Persephone by @sarah_m_eden He and Thor may share the biggest character space in my heart. Side note; we’re getting a movie of this story! #seekingpersephonemovie I am so thrilled. Haakon from Daughters of Northen Shores by @joannebischof Haakon is Thor’s brother. Haakon could be any one of many I have known over the years and his redemption story is nothing short of beautiful. Kieran from Remembering Jamie by @nicholevan When I hit book 5 in the glorious Brotherhood of the Black Tartan series, it was like my heart hit home. I’d been waiting for Kieran and didn’t know it. Each of these authors have created some beautiful, multi-dimensional characters, and I’m just in awe.
