Funny Story by Emily Henry 🍋💙 > 4.5 stars rounded up to 5/5 stars To begin, yeah some people didn’t love this book, and nothing’s wrong with that. Every person has a different opinion and relates to different books. Thank goodness for that! I think it’s ridiculous when people are rude to those who don’t share their opinions. I don’t love Normal People or The Cruel Prince, but I love that others do. I didn’t relate to January from Beach Read, but I loved the book. So, while I did love this book, not everyone will. And that is true for every book in the universe. Be kind. Now, my review … There are no words. I was scared going into this - I have such high expectations for Emily Henry that it feels unfair. I should’ve known she’d live up to them. Beach Read & Book Bovers are tied favorites. Happy Place is second because I felt like I didn’t know Wyn well. But this? It’s a three way tie for #1. How can I choose between these lovely characters? Ones who are beautifully human and I relate to in different ways? Happy Place was … sad. Truly sad for me but I loved it all the same. Funny Story is more light hearted until it all hits you at the end. We definitely know Miles, & I love him. When Daphne said that she’s just waiting for someone to leave, I started crying because I feel that way too. Experiencing life is something that I have been trying and also failing to do. I feel like I have been waiting for life to find me rather than stepping outside and finding it. I think the most impactful thing was seeing how Daphne thinks of herself while I found her witty, smart, kind, dedicated, free, introspective, and all around incredible. How can she think of herself as unlovable? Dear reader, this is the “oh” moment. How can any of us think we are unlovable when we are a million and one beautiful things? I could go on and on about Peter and Petra, the portrayal of a single woman being fulfilled, reading romance books of women who aren’t 20 finding love, and much more. I did think that everything was happening a bit fast. I rounded up to 5 since at the end it made more sense why feelings changed so quickly.

AOTD - I love listening to podcasts, especially true crime! Casefile is definitely my fave. ➡️ swipe for the synopsis Now this was a sad and frustrating read. My heart always breaks for victims and their families of unsolved murders. But what is really annoying about this story is that the murderer (I mean this is just mine and the authors opinion) was right there! The guy literally ‘discovered’ her body!! 😤 The investigation conducted by the police just felt flawed from the very start. It was like the cops never really looked like they were pursing it 😞 I hope this book can keep Christie’s case at the forefront of people’s minds. I also really hope Christie and her family receive the justice they truely deserve. Please give this book a read if you were in Colombus, Ohio in 1975. You never know what may jog your memory.
