Got a quick reading wrap up for y’all! With how big my TBR for September is, it would be a complete nightmare to save all of my thoughts for the end of the month. We Need To Do Something 🌪️ A family on the verge of self-destruction finds themselves isolated in their bathroom during a tornado warning. This is bleak, atmospheric and some would say it's claustrophobic. I listened to the audio version and the narrator was brilliant. As for the story... I liked it. It's a great quick read. I found the characters to be annoying (which I believe is intentional) and there's very little character development. There were parts where I found it to be very repetitive, but overall I enjoyed it. If you want a uncomfortable, grim and entertaining read.. (For those who don't know it's stories about polyamory) Review: Radiant Sin by Katee Robert Rating: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ y'all already knew I was gonna speak highly of their work Spice level: 4 🌶️ out of 5 Ya know I hated the old Aphrodite. But this one has been through ENOUGH bro 😭 Also how tf am I warming up to Theseus 😭 never saw that one coming tbh. I didn't see a lot of what was coming with this book if I'm being honest. Katee has a way with words and story building that captivates me every time. I adored this book so much, even though I started it mad AF bc I hated Theseus initially. They are my favorite author at this point, as I've said. I had the pleasure of meeting Katee at the book signing for this book and getting it stamped. who else is planning on reading foxglove soon? 🙋🏻‍♀️ …has anyone already read it? 👀 Belladonna was my first ever ~gothic~ read. I fell in love with the story AND death. 🤭 I’ve been looking forward to Foxglove since finishing Belladonna last October! I actually got to meet Adalyn Grace during a local author signing + discussion last month and it was amazing. This event uplifted me when I really needed it 🫶🏻 One thing Adalyn said about the difference between Belladonna and Foxglove that I loved is they both give off different seasonal energy. Belladonna gives off Fall vibes whereas Foxglove gives off Spring & Summer vibes. I think that’s so fun! 🌞 Have you ever met any authors? If not, who would you want to meet? —I’ve met Stephanie Garber and Adalyn Grace, and both of them were so warm + authentic.

No Exit by Taylor Adams Get ready. This review is going to go back and forth and be ALL over the place. 👍🏻I read this book in less than 24 hours - I could not put it down. 👎🏻The writing & action felt like it was more for a movie than a novel - like a late night movie you find on HBO that you have never heard of and just watch while you fall asleep. 👍🏻I was all in on the fact that one of the big twists happened early on in the story. 👎🏻I deeply disliked all of the characters except the little girl - I was rooting for her and didn't really care what happened to the rest of the characters. 👍🏻I just wanted to keep reading to see how it was all going to turn out in the end. 👎🏻So much of the action was far fetched and eye rolling especially when the main action revolved around a college student who had been awake for so many hours - adrenaline can only take you so far. 👍🏻👎🏻I saw there was a movie on Hulu and I immediately watched it after I finished the book (they made some interesting and in my opinion very unnecessary changes but made me LOVE the character of Ed so much more than the book so that's a plus) 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻And my final point - When one of the main issues is a cell phone that has no service and there is no charger available - I just can't get past it - I understand being in a remote place with no service - but NO ONE HAS A CHARGER? COME ON! So you see - I am very mixed and confused about how I feel about this book. I apologize for this very unhelpful review. 'the last word' taylor adams ⭐️⭐️ (Check tw!) synopsis: avid reader emma finishes reading a terrible thriller and decides to leave a one star rating online as well as a scathing review- but later when she's forgotten about it and moved onto her next book, she receives a furious reply from the author and then weird things start happening... ⭐️i was really excited to read this after reading no exit last year- that one was so fast paced and anxiety inducing lol, the whole way through my heart was racing and i expected more of the same with this ⭐️except it was the exact opposite... the whole premise of this book was a psycho author getting revenge on a reader for leaving him a shit review and she starts hearing noises and seeing things around the house- it should have been tension filled and thrilling but instead it was very monotonous and boring, nothing much was happening and it was dragging on and on, most of the action happened in the last third of the book! ⭐️there were paragraphs upon paragraphs where i was zoning out, thinking about what to have for my tea later and making a mental shopping list for the next day and still nothing was happening 😂 ⭐️I will say, i liked the character of Emma, our protagonist and found her very relatable (swipe for my favourite quotes) ⭐️as a mystery/thriller connoisseur (lol self appointed) a bad sign for me is when i can guess the ending and this one was very predictable from the off- almost instantly, it was clear where it was going- but i want to be completely shocked and have the rug pulled from under my feet! ⭐️i've been seeing so many rave reviews about this one so take this with a pinch of salt, but as someone who has read countless mystery thrillers, this one didn't do anything new and after finishing it i felt like it had been a waste of my time ⭐️hope the author doesn't come after me for this 2 star review lmao, i'd skip this one, onto the next

Let’s talk books that I am excited for in September 📖 To Wear A Demon Crown is coming out SEPTEMBER 21st and it all starts with To Hunt A Demon King. I love the covers of these books. Honestly all of @madeleineeliotwrites books have stunning covers. It fits my total vibe. This series starts out as a little red riding hood retelling with witches, a huntsman, demons, and some amazing animal sidekicks (they’re always my favorite part). As you read through THADK you learn more and I was so drawn into the story. I love books with clues dropped into them so I can develop my own theories and try to predict where the story is going. This was a a great read and I am excited to be able to talk about what happens in TWADC when it comes out 🤐 my DMs are always open for all things Bookish…. *The Year of the Cat - Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett* Book Club This was my first (ever) book club meeting and was glad to be brought along by the lovely @sabre_reads to the most fun location @maisondemoggy (swipe for cats!!) Now this would probably not have been a book I would pick for myself in normal circumstances but it was nice to branch out and try something a little different. Over the course of lockdown Rhiannon muses over events and experiences throughout her life and the arrival of kitten Mackerel helps her to face her fears and what it means to be a mother and carer. Whilst there were some real nuggets of wisdom and some gorgeous prose I think it was too soon for me to read about lockdown and the laser focus on motherhood was too repetitive. I found her quite self indulgent and there was a severe lack of Mackerel content for a book titled The Year of the Cat. The pace was a little slow and I found it more like reading her journal, I think I even described it in book club as a brain dump or word vomit. However, despite all that I found her raw honesty very refreshing as I too have had similar internal debates about motherhood. I adored her relationship with her mum and brother and the love just oozed off the pages. The Maid🧹🧼🧻 4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This was such a fun read! It wasn’t gruesome, it didn’t make me feel dark and gross after, and it has the perfect amount of *GASP* moments! The Maid is such a cozy mystery book. I loved how Molly was unique in her own way, she was such a fun character!! I loved hearing her thoughts and internal dialogue. This was a fast paced book and I flew through it! I had to read this before the second book comes out. Now where can I call to have Molly clean my house? Go pick up this book😍

🍯 Book Review 🍯 🐝 Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 🍯 This book was SO good!! I listened to the audiobook version and it was incredibly done. The voice actors sounded so authentic and really added to the story. I went into this one pretty blind and I’m so happy I did!! It was beautiful, moving, heartbreaking, nerve wracking, and unfortunately realistic. I felt so close to the characters and was intimately invested in their story. This was the first book in a while that I know I will be thinking about for a long time. My only issue was with the ending…I needed a little something more to really tie everything together. I would 100% recommend this book! Some trigger warnings so definitely look into that first. Lacey embarks as Stian’s assistant and their mutual love for Art and its History creates a pathway for their relationship to develop further. Stian and Lacey’s relationship may be unconventional but then it felt right to them and served as the basis for Lacey’s healing process. I felt for Lacey so much, her fight and despair made me cry at multiple times, and the way her disease was approached was remarkable. ! long caption ahead & in comments ! (but please do read🫶🏼) Hi everyone. It’s been a while since I made a post and I figured I would take this time to reflect. As some of you may know a little over a month ago my uncle and his wife tragically passed away in a car accident. The past month hasn’t been easy. This loss is one that I’m not sure I’ll ever completely heal from, but I know they’re in a better place now. Being with family helped more than I realized it would and it brought us all closer together which I am forever grateful for. But that doesn’t mean I’m exempt from still facing difficulties. I struggle with anxiety/OCD quite a bit. I am very open about it in my personal life and am a huge advocate for mental health, but I’ve never really spoken about it on here. And this past month, it’s gotten to be more difficult than usual. I’ve hit breaking points and felt completely hopeless. I’ve felt my heart racing from the anxiety and have allowed myself to become so overwhelmed that I let the fear consume me. Now you may be wondering, why is she saying all of this? Is she any better? Well, I am glad to report that yes I am. Am I completely over my mental health struggles? No. Not by a long shot. But I’ve found ways to help. I of course have to give all the glory to God, as I would not be able to say any of this without His hand in it all. But here is how I’ve gotten better. -I’ve found community. While the friends I’ve made through bookstagram may be online, the amount of love and support I have faced this last month after losing loved ones has been astounding. To everyone who sent me a message or prayers/thoughts, I cannot thank you enough. I am forever grateful for you and I love you all. The people I’ve become close with through this app have become not only friends, but family. And I have to shout out a few, who SECRETLY (and I’m NOT easy to surprise) got together and sent me a care package to cheer me up after my uncles accident. Thank you Ali @faithandfictionn @tales.of.aidan @_samanthas_bookshelf_ @coffeecloud27 and @jules_booknook05 And to @liz.library_ who bought me dinner and let me vent after I got back from the funeral, I love you🤍

So I love this book, don’t get me wrong! But after being ex-military & being married to a military guy now, some military books make me cringe. Some military bits in this book make me think ‘ugh’ but some bits make me want to cry. For example the funeral of Colton. Holy shit I was in floods! ⭐ Cняѳпїфцё⭐ J’ai beaucoup rigoler en lisant cette anthologie. Je n’étais pas très attiré par ce genre de littérature. Mais j’ai accepté de la lire et je ne l’ai pas regretté. Ce recueil contient des nouvelles de fantastique et de science-fiction, toutes humoristiques. L’humour y est varié, qu’il soit acerbe, loufoque, noir ou sarcastique. On est emporté dans plusieurs univers. Chaque nouvelle est précédée d’une brève biographie de son auteur, ce qui m’a incité à en savoir plus sur certains d’entre eux. Comme dans toute anthologie, il y a des nouvelles qui nous séduisent plus que d’autres, mais il y en a pour tous les goûts et tous les registres d’humour. Les plumes des auteurs sont de toutes dimensions et vous laissent emporter jusqu'à la fin du livre. Pour conclure : Ne vous laissez pas impressionner par le mot " anthologie " et lancez-vous dans ces récits sans a priori.
