“I’ve done my ball searching training this morning and apparently she thinks I’ve made progress. She made a mistake with my commands though, but I worked through it 😆. I’m now resting on the cold floor feeling brain tired and ready for a snooze. “ Luvs Breeze. I think we had a breakthrough today but have sent the videos to my mentor to check I am right. She loves her training sessions and working with the 🎾. I’ve taken things steadily with a plan and we had three consecutive runs that fitted the criteria so I feel we are ready to up the criteria another baby step. Our sessions are now 15 mins long so that’s a massive step up from 3 mins and zoomies. No zoomies today 🥳🥳👏👏 Any form of dog training needs to be built up slowly and you must have a plan and know what you want out of the session. I have a plan for each of my three - all very different. “She’s on top of my crate, should I ask her nicely to move?” “I think she will need to move Breeze as there is a big bit of sagging going on there “ 🙈 All three of my spaniels have their own crates and use them as dens/safe places and know that they can take themselves off into them at anytime. They have choice. For that reason I won’t ever remove them. People have told me crates are cruel but because mine see them as safe personal space it would be cruel to remove them. Floss chooses to sleep in hers overnight whereas Charlie starts off upstairs with me - I have a suspicion he goes downstairs into it at some point. Breeze has been crated overnight up to now due to her being in season and she settled beautifully in it - I wouldn’t have left her if it distressed her. She is starting to go to it when she needs a time out. I also use them for quiet time with chews after they have had an adrenaline rush so they can chill - they get a lickimat to help the endorphins kick in. King Oskie (our cat Oscar 🐈 ) has settled in so well and so quickly to the new home 😍 He hates being in the car so the drive the Leeds was a bit stressful but we prepared for it as best we could and used Classic FM in the car.
