We are also in need of new fosters! 🎉Our biggest celebration of the week is that Olivia gave birth to 4 healthy and happy puppies. They will be in care until they reach 8 weeks of age and are ready to find forever homes ! 🎉 This week, we welcomed 31 dogs into care (this includes Olivia’s 4 puppies)! We also celebrated 22 pooches finding their forever homes! We currently still have 54 dogs in care searching for forever families! 🥰 We had 3 great adoption events at @fieldhousebrewing, @superfluxbeer and @bosleys.ladner ! 🥰 We still have some dogs who have been searching for their forever homes for some time. He doesn't smile very often, but when he does 😌. Also, pretty sure Scrappy is a bigger fan of Monty than vice versa. Monty loves being at the barn because he was raised with show horses until he came to me. And because he spent more time with horses than people, I'm pretty sure that's where he gets his fancy prancing and bouncy gait from. It was Monty and my anniversary a few days ago. I'm still very appreciative he demanded I take him home with me, even though I prefer Llewellyn Setters, Montalván is truly a very gifted dog in his own right. He is a bit of a grouch sometimes, but at the same time he definitely has confidence in himself and is very happy with himself. Something I needed at the time as I was going through not going back to the Netherlands, dealing with (2) exes that were each a bit of a nightmare in their own right, recovering from emotional domestic abuse from one. Then on top of things, I had heart surgery. Monty was always happy to be alive. He loved to smell flowers as a puppy, he frolicked everywhere he went like a goat, and was totally comfortable in his own uniqueness. I met Monty on my friend's birthday, I was excited to tell him about Monty. I found out that he died a few months before while I was hospitalized and no one told me. So I named Montalván after him, Captain Luis Carlos Montalván @luis_tuesday . I call him Monty for short, my first husband's name (he was killed in an accident in 2008). Anyways, Monty got in my lap and hugged me, when I opened the barn door while looking for newborn foals. He was the one of 2 puppies no one wanted. I saw the first one get kicked, so my mom decided that one was coming with us, and Monty wanted to come too, and here he is. I bought a German Wirehaired Pointer, and came home with a half Wirehaired Pointing Griffon 😊. His comical attitude makes him a great assistance dog and he is a lover of community. Foster or Forever home wanted!!!! Meet Pearl the Puppy!!! Pearl came to us through a local shelter cruelty case. She has what appears to be a rope burn around her neck (we’re not going to post pictures of that as it is shocking what humans can do to dogs, especially puppies). Despite this horrible treatment Pearl received before the shelter intervened, Pearl is a sweet, happy-go-lucky puppy who just wants a chance to love and trust humans. Pearl is at our vet, getting treatment for her neck wound and recovering well. She’s ready to bust out of the vet's office and get into a foster or better yet forever home. Pearl is a five month old lab puppy weighing in at about 40 pounds right now, so she’ll likely be 70 pounds when fully grown. Like all puppies, Pearl the Puppy will need an active family that is committed to continuing her puppy training, daily exercise, mental stimulation, and exposing each to lots of adventures throughout her life. Regardless of a dog’s genetic makeup or history, a relationship based in allowance driven by impulse and desire, versus permission and respect, often creates dogs that cannot be trusted around others, and who consistently make unhealthy choices. Allowing your dog to jump on people. Allowing your dog to bully guests or other dogs. Allowing your dog to pull on leash. Allowing your dog to fence fight with the neighbor’s dog. Allowing your dog to blast through thresholds. Allowing your dog to barge out of the crate. Allowing your dog to demand attention. Allowing your dog to irrationally react to triggers. All create deeply set behavioral patterns based in disrespect. We alone hold the power to create the companion of a lifetime in all of those small daily moments we experience with our dog. Meanwhile, while Shadow has calmed down, this new little bubba has been being a terror haha I put up a net with some fairy lights in my room and Sol was so transfixed with the lights that she just sat there staring at them for an hour… unfortunately, she then decided it is definitely a hammock for her. Say hello Ringo Starr, the goofy, 2yr old wonder pup! Ringo has been settling in nicely with his new foster mom in VT, and now ready to interview a family to call his own. He may look like a larger dog in the pics and even has a deep big dog bark, but this little cutie is on the smaller side at about 35 pounds and knee height! Your guess is as good as ours on what breed he is, but what we do know that he’s a fun loving guy who enjoys cozy couch time and belly rubs as much as he does a long romp in the woods. He’s even been working on his off leash skills and likes to stay close to his people. Ringo needs a little support from his coach when meeting new people and dogs, but does well with slower, respectful introductions and has been doing well meeting people and dogs alike on the trail. He gets a bit overwhelmed with boisterous over excited dogs (and people) and would do best in a quieter home with no kiddos. He has been enjoying time with his foster brother and sister (both beagle pups) and loves to run around the yard and play. Ringo Starr is fully house trained and crate trained, sleeping through the night without stirring or complaining. He’s a happy guy to wake up to and get your day started with a sloppy kiss. We have not tested him with cats yet, more info to come. Left to stray in freezing temperatures, elderly boy Chops came to us from the dog warden, skinny and arthritic. His previous owner left him with someone when they went on holiday and when they didn't return, Chops had been left to fend for himself. 😥 Chops blossomed in our care, enjoying a play and run around the paddocks followed by a snooze on a lap. However, he hated kennels and would cry when he’d go in, so a team member would stay in the flat onsite with him each night. Thankfully it wasn't too long before his new family spotted him and feel head over heels in love. Er liebt das Leben wieder, sucht Streicheleinheiten, ist trotz seiner schweren Vergangenheit ein lustiger, verschmuster und fröhlicher Schatz. Mit Artgenossen ist Mimosin sozial, teilt aber weder Futter noch geliebte Menschen gerne mit anderen Hundis. Adopter needed 💕 Meet Moon! Moon is a 9 week old husky shepherd mix who weighs around 14lbs. She’s up to date on her vaccines and has been dewormed and deflead. Here’s what her foster has to say about her: Moon is the sweetest little pup! She’s super friendly with new people, other pups, and little kids. She approaches everything unfamiliar with curiosity and kindness. She’s an absolute cuddle bug and will sit on my lap and snooze for hours while I’m working from home. She also loves curling up in a ball on the couch or a chair. Moon is still working on her potty training but shows promising signs of progress. She usually wakes up 1-2 times during the night to pee. She’s learning to love her crate. She’ll hang out in there during the day, and has been sleeping in there at night. She’ll put up a fight for 5-10 minutes when we first put her in, but will settle down after 5-10 minutes as long as she has her heartbeat toy. She’s really playful, but can also be a total chiller. We’ve been bringing her to our gym to socialize her and she’s unbothered by loud music, people, or cardio machines whirring. She loves playing in the park and going for long walks!
