So a couple days ago I found this piece from what I can tell for a song. But I don't know a lot about it other than it is a replica of the Britannia mermaid that would have been on the front of the ship that's in the museum. And that this is from the 60s and made of polyurethane. The full body picture is the only one I feel like I can show and not get in trouble. Just had a tour of the Western Flyer at the Port Townsend Shipwrights Coop. Ok, all you John Steinbeck fans... are you with me? What about you Ed Ricketts fans? Ok, how about you "Log from the Sea of Cortez" or "Sea of Cortez: A Leisurely Journal of Travel and Research" fans? Anyway, this boat, which took Steinbeck and Ricketts to the Sea of Cortez (thus the book's title!) is currently being restored by the Western Flyer Foundation in the Port Townsend Shipwrights Coop, after years of abuse and being sunk! You can hopefully see that I'm mimicking using the head! From what I hear from Chris, the project manager, this head is going to be the only unchanged part of this boat restoration project!
