✨Newborn awake windows ✨ ✨Newborns have such a small awake window, this time only consists of feeding, burping, nappy change and back to sleep. ✨It’s important to watch for those tired signs, so we can avoid heading into that over-tired zone. Do you know what your baby looks like when they are tired? 😴 ✨If you miss a babies sleep window, it can to be a lot harder to settle them to sleep. ✨Some infants are naturally better sleepers than others, but even those need their parents to be observant. So it’s important to pay attention and figure out what your baby does when they are tired. ✨Newborns don’t have control over anything but their mouths, a yawn is often the biggest clue. But babies might also fuss or make involuntary movements. By 6 weeks baby has more control over their head so might turn away from you or from a toy or burrow into your neck when you are carrying him. ✨Whatever the signs, it’s a good idea to act immediately, if you miss the window or try to extend the awake time with the idea that they will sleep longer, (which instead causes over tiredness), it’s going to be a lot harder to get them to settle. Mumma has been very busy not just baking cookies but studying all things baby sleep 😴 Nothing can prepare you for the sleep deprivation that is parenthood!! Coupled with being a first time parent with a baby who doesn’t like to sleep (or staying asleep). I found out first hand like most parents do through many many long nights, multiple wakings and going through the struggles with a baby who wouldn’t sleep longer than 45 minutes that sleep is so important, especially when you’re not getting it. Fast forward to today I am loving learning (everything I wished I knew 2.5 years ago) and while our babies seem to throw the unexpected at us every now and then, having the knowledge around healthy sleep routines and requirements at each step of their development has made the days and nights just that little bit easier..
