L'un des films de mon enfance, le toy story made in dreamworks.... Mais en version Rambo ! Voila ce que représente Small Soldiers. Une troupe de commandos menée par le major Chip Hazard ainsi que ses lieutenants : Brick Bazooka, Link Static, Butch Meathook, Nick Nitro et Kip Killigan Ayant pour objectif de mener la victoire contre les gorgonites diriger par Archer, Slamfist, Insaniac, punch-It, Troglokahn et Ocula. Seulement voila, le concepteur des commandos Larry Benson a assimiler l'intégration de la puce Globotech X1000 doté de capacités d'intelligences hors norme mais aussi... De violence explosives C'est alors qu'entre en jeu le jeune Alan Abernathy, ancien lycéen qui suite à son travail en mi-temps à la boutique trouve les commandos et Archer en boite... À partir de là... La guerre est déclarée ! Sortit en 1998 et réalisé par Joe dante déja realisateur des gremlins en son temps, reste sur le même thème mélangeant Toy Story à la puissance de l'intelligence artificielle, car c'est là le plus intéressant c'est que avec les années ce film avait une vision très proche de notre monde actuel avec l'I.A de plus en plus présente. Bien sur le plus mémorable reste les scènes d'actions faites avec un réalisme incroyable pour l'époque. Coté VF il y a beaucoup à dire notamment sur les voix des jouets qui sont doublées par toute la bande des guignols de l'info à savoir @yves_le_coq sur Tommy Lee Jones , #danielherzog @canteloupoff (oui ce nicolas 😅) ainsi que @sandrinealexi et à l'entendre leur plaisir à l'exercice n'est pas passé inaperçu loin de là. This post is just highlighting favorite things in my retro/vintage collection. In the first slide are my most favorite, care bear figurines from the 1980s that I managed to get at my local thrift store. The blue one is Bedtime Beaf and the orange one is Tender heart Bear produced by Kenner. The second one is a japanese toy called a Monchichi. This is a girl Monchichi and she was bought from another local thrift store with a missing thumb and bib. These toys were released in 1974 by Sekiguchi Corperations in Japan and later released by Mattel in the USA. The third one is and action figure Major Chip hazard and antagonist from the movie Small Soldiers released in 1998. This action figure was bought at a local thrift store. Despite being a monster, Archer was surprisingly polite and served as the heroic figure in the movie. That is until the epic battle against Chip Hazard on the power lines, where he showcased his bravery, even taking a knife to the leg! The Gorgonites were created with the purpose of learning and evading the Commando Elite. I remember receiving Archer as a Christmas present back in ‘98, and I must admit, I was secretly hoping for Chip Hazard. Nevertheless, Archer turned out to be a remarkably cool gift. Maybe it was because he was the good guy after all 😂. “Butch Meathook, sniper. Lethal from any distance, sir.“ Creating Butch from Chip Hazard was quite a challenge. I took inspiration from a guy on YouTube, Rick Creating, who inspired me. Modeling the face so that it had an expression similar to the original one was the most difficult part, but I am satisfied with the result (I remodeled a first version because it didn’t convince me). Personally I love it, because I find it very original and unique, a true piece of craftsmanship. Small Soldiers! A film that came out in 1998. It's about some toy soldiers that came to life and wants to kill people, basically Toy Story on steroids! At first you'd think it was all CGI but was actually mostly practical effects and puppetry! It was so ahead of its time, truly a remarkable movie, I was so fascinated with it as a kid. Huge bonus that @btnhlive @thereallayziebone @wishdogg @fleshnbonebtnh was featured on the soundtrack on a song called "War" with Henry Rollins, Tom Morello, and Flea. A music video was released too! I just wish @krayzie_bone and @mrmccane were there too! A remix version of the song eventually came out on Bone Thugs N Harmony's "The Collection vol. 1". So happy to have come across these 6in figures of Major Chip Hazard and Archer by Hasbro on a pretty decent price! The sculpt on both figs are beautiful but the figs themselves have seen better days. Today’s Limited Edition Plastic Head: Small Soldiers - Major Chip Hazard - Talking with punching action 12” - Hasbro - 1998. Another significant aspect of this movie was the incredible movie poster. That poster always caught my eye whenever I went to see new movies and during the anticipation leading up to the release of Small Soldiers. I particularly loved the lighting with the green and blue colors, illuminating the figures from above to accentuate the cool shadows and shapes of these impressive head sculpts. I knew right away that I had to recreate this lighting for a limited edition version of Major Chip Hazard. Today’s Plastic Head: Small Soldiers - Major Chip Hazard - Talking with punching action 12” - Hasbro - 1998 I remember back in ‘98 when I was a 9-year-old kid, I saw the trailer for this movie and I knew right then and there that I had to see it. After the success of Toy Story, I think it was a great idea to bring toys to life, but this time they wanted to beat the crap out of each other 🤣 Well, at least this guy did. Major Chip Hazard was the leader of the Commando Elite, who was a bit of a genocidal maniac and vowed to eliminate all the Gorgonite scum. He was voiced by the legendary Tommy Lee Jones. I absolutely loved this movie. The special effects and animatronics by Stan Winston were outstanding, and the toys that came out alongside the movie are some of the best-looking movie figures from Hasbro. This 12” figure came with two guns and had voice-activated talking action with the real movie voice and a punching arm. This film still holds up to this day. It was great to watch it again recently with my two boys and it sparked my interest to add Chip Hazard to the Plastic Heads gallery. He has a fantastic head mould, I must say, with plenty of sharp facial features 😎 And the PlayStation 1 video game was a little gem.
