I spent most of today trying to get the perfect photos to do the coins justice (they are so tricky to photograph!). ⬇️⬇️⬇️ You can preorder coins starting this Friday, and they will ship when Heartwood is ready (estimated shipping in September or October 2024). Heartwood coins will feature our Fool (a sleeping mouse enjoying a peaceful slumber) on one side and our fearless Knight of Swords (bravely holding their tiny sword, ready to venture into a mysterious winter wonderland) on the other. 🗡️ ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Coins will measure 38mm in diameter (roughly 1.5 inches), and since, at their core, they’re made of brass, they have a nice weight to them. 🐲book review🔥 Ok, so I’ve finally read the sequel to Fourth Wing, Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros. And I’m really torn about it. There were certainly some aspects that I enjoyed and that kept me reading until the end - I was definitely entertained, especially in the second half; the first part dragged a bit, and I don’t know if I would have been able to get through it as easily without the audiobook. I admit the plot was compelling enough, even though I’m not a big fan of action-heavy books - and this was definitely HEAVY on the action. The ending was emotional and it did shake me quite a bit at first. Maybe I only enjoyed this as much as I did because I had below zero expectations going into this - which is something I suggest doing to anyone who wants to pick up this book. This is not another Fourth Wing unfortunately, but it is entertaining enough if you are into plot-heavy fantasy. On the other hand, I can’t help being disappointed. I had enjoyed Fourth Wing quite a bit - even recognising all its problems and flaws; the characters are unoriginal and the plot feels just like a mix up of some of the most popular romantasy books published in these last few years. But still, Fourth Wing was a fun read, lighthearted despite the high stakes, and Iron Flame was just not up to the hype. It was neither fun for most of the time, nor had it that many other redeeming qualities. Plus, it introduced a few characters that I felt were there just for the sake of being hated, and some relationship dynamics and tropes that I absolutely despised. Despite all this, I still find myself wanting to continue this series - I’m curious about how it’s going to end. If there is any one thing Rebecca Yarros did well in this series, it’s keeping readers at the edge of their seat at all times. Have you read this series? What are your thoughts about it? 🐲

TWO OF PENTACLES, Multi-tasking, Daily routine 🐌🍄🌿 Hi everyone! I wanted to share our delightful Two of Pentacles (in progress) from our upcoming Heartwood Tarot deck (release date to be determined). This card is represented by a lovely snail carrying two youngsters on their back (even though Heartwood is a mouse-heavy deck, they don't appear on every card….this happens to be one of the many creatures they meet on their journey through the cottage). 🥰 ⬇️⬇️⬇️ The funny thing is I don't have children per se (but I do have two lovely dogs, and they totally count 🥰)…anywho, I find I always use the family unit in this card (whether it be a hare with two leverets in #oakashandthorn or a grumpy, uncle-type dragon with baby buns in #smokeashandembers). I think the idea of family juggling harkens back to my childhood, growing up with all of my nieces and nephews (since I was so much younger than my siblings)…that meant there was lots of family chaos. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ What I'm trying to show with this imagery is that it doesn't matter if we’re juggling a family, work, projects, the day-to-day, etc., we’re usually juggling something, and that’s where the Two of Pentacles comes into play. (Yesterday's) card of the day: 7 of Swords This is the first card if the day I've drawn in a loooong time and I did it while baby magpie was having an unexpectedly long morning nap. The plan was for me to try and sleep too but typically I was too awake by that point so I ended up creeping around the house doing a few jobs and then thought, why not take a breath and a card while I have a quiet house and two free hands? The 7 of Swords immediately made me think of myself, sneaking around the house while he slept, occasionally opening the bedroom door oooh so slowly to check on him then scuttling off again 😅 sometimes a bit of sneakiness is okay. Today's morning nap didn't last so no card yet, but I did get a half hour kip, so swings and roundabouts I guess! There are three different puzzles to choose from featuring the beautiful artwork of Thistledown. Here is a bit more information about them: * Each puzzle measures 125 x 87mm (around 4.92 x 3.42 inches) and comes in a two-piece box made with recycled materials. * Each puzzle features shaped puzzle pieces, called whimsies, which are puzzle pieces crafted into recognisable shapes to match the puzzle's theme. * Irregularly shaped puzzle pieces add challenge and include dissected corners, straight pieces within the puzzle and non-straight pieces around the outside. * Manufactured by Wentworth Puzzles, made in the heart of the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. THE BOX I have lots of ideas. LOTS. 😩😂 And while most of them work in my head, many don’t work realistically. So when my printer asked me what colour stock I was thinking of using for the #thistledown box, I had this wacky idea one night that I wanted to have the same colour box as Oak, Ash & Thorn, but the ink colour would match Smoke, Ash & Embers. I figured it was a silly idea, but the folks over at @generationpress loved the idea, and here we are today…a box that perfectly coordinates and ties everything together (and as a side note, it photographs beautifully and feels AMAZING!). ⬇️⬇️⬇️ I can’t believe how they managed to match the ink, and I love all of Adam’s little illustrations wrapping around the front, top and sides! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Honestly, I dread the box designing stage because I’m so indecisive, and with indecisiveness comes worry, but everything comes together in the end.
