Yesterday, Poe had to go to the vets.. 🐾🥺 She developed complications during her phantom pregnancy. One of her mammary glands was getting infected, and we had to go pick up some antibiotics as she was sore & unwell... 🥺 Phantom pregnancy is one of those things Poe has struggled with since young. She never had bad bouts of it, usually ended up just being a bit grumpier, nesting, and having milk for a few days to a week, and she was absolutely fine. This time around, we weren't as lucky, I guess.. Developing infection in mammary glands can get pretty serious if not treated soon. We were super lucky that we realised what was happening in the very early stages. A bit of good news (finally!) to start the week… Little Tilly has finally been discharged 🥰 She still has a way to go, with lots of care at home and medication etc, but so happy she doesn’t need to be hospitalised any more. Let me tell you that, I am so ready for this week to be done with. I feel emotionally and physically drained. The baby come down with bronchitis last week which has been completely rxhausting in it's self. Monday this week he came down with measles, although on the mend now, thankfully 🩵 This morning, I had a suprise knock at the door, a completely forgotten appointment for a gas saftey check at 8am, while im trying to get us already to leave, which put a spanner in the works. I managed to walk out the door at 8:30. Loaded everyone up to find out..... The car is dead 🤦♀️ Thankfully it was only the key fob needing new batteries 😅 (after dragging my dad out to jump start it) And to top it off Colby got us sent up to the emergency department today with purple hands and feet. 🌱 The past 18 months have been particularly difficult but as they say ‘The Comeback is always stronger than the setback‘. Welcome to the start of the comeback. 🪴 Being disabled is one thing but being disabled and ill at the same time is another. I’ve been struggling mentally since the beginning of 2023 and during the past 9 months I have been continually poorly. (For example I get over a chest infection and literally 2 days after I feel I have got over it I then spend 3 weeks out with excruciating back pain. Having got Scoliosis I thought I knew all about back pain, damn was I wrong). As I write this I’m on week 4 of my current chest infection. Ive tried my best but I’ve struggled to be a husband, I’ve struggled to be a Dad, I’ve struggled to be me. In the past my garden has been everything to me but in recent times I had just lost all interest. I struggle with leaving the house at the best of times but in recent months I’ve barely left the house even to step into the garden. In the last 9 months I’ve only left the house to get flu & COVID vaccinations. My fear of leaving my house has been off the scale. I literally have to stop eating for days on end if I know I have to go to the Doctors. Anyway here I am. Still a bit poorly, still battling on but something appears to have changed because today I have finally made it out to our rear garden. Have to say it looked as messed up as I feel but together we’re get there. Amelia Update On Saturday we took Amelia into A&E in Manchester with a high temperature. After investigations including blood tests and a chest X-Ray doctors confirmed that Amelia had a chest infection. An attempt of getting a cannula in failed so it was decided that Amelia would be put on a high dose of oral antibiotics. Over the next 24 hours Amelia was monitored, at first attempts to bring down her extremely high temperature failed but eventually after moving Amelia into a cold room it came down. Amelia’s temperature then continued to be up and down, she has refused to eat since Thursday but was still drinking little and often. On Sunday afternoon she was sick from what we thought was a coughing fit. Lots of discussions took place Sunday evening and it was decided that Amelia could return home and into the care of the community nurses but if we felt that she was to become more unwell we could bring her back. On the way home Amelia was sick in the car, thankful Nanna and Grandad were there for support. Once Amelia was home and showered we decided to let Amelia sleep in her own bed and we really hoped that she would wake up feeling much better. Unfortunately this morning Amelia has taken a turn for the worse and she is back in Manchester A&E. On arrival doctors were unable to take blood gasses as Amelia was too dehydrated to bleed. She now has a cannula in and is receiving IV fluids. She has also had another chest X-Ray. Our team has also been down to A&E and have accessed Amelia’s device and taken a CFS (brain and spinal fluid) sample to test for any infection. Amelia has had a dose of strong IV antibiotics to treat an infection in the brain to be on the safe side whilst we wait for all the results to come back. Amelia has been sick again and her temperature is raging. We have also just been informed she has lost a considerable amount of weight in just the last few days. This is to be expected as she’s not eaten in four days but it is still extremely worrying. We really need positive thoughts and prayers for our little girl. We need to know what is causing Amelia to be so poorly so that we can get her on the correct course of treatment. See comments
