✨Happy Star Wars Day & May the 4th be with you!✨ It would be a dream and out of this world to spend the day in Hollywood Studios in Batuu today 😂 but this year, we are sticking to our home planet of.. Denver💙 😂 and having a movie marathon day! I had grown up watching my grandmother love Star Wars. I knew all the characters and was used to seeing them on the tv when I would go over to her house. When I was an older teen, I was in a really dark spot and had basically forsaken anything I had loved as a kid, but a few years later when I met my husband, he helped bring me back to life :) and helped me get back into all the things I loved! Including Star Wars!! I had not watched it as an adult until I met my husband and I fell in love with Star Wars too and saw exactly why it was one of my grandmother’s favorites! She would have been blown away to see Galaxy’s Edge in person! I feel so lucky I get to be in the generation that experiences something so real life like to the movies. It’s #ForceFriday and #FotopassFriday here for Star Wars Spirit Week and I would like to submit a young Padawan learning how to use the force at the Jedi Training Academy. There were 2 Photopass photographers at each show and you got all the pictures to download for free! I would also like to give a shoutout to this cast member. She was amazing! Caleb was the youngest and smallest participant. He had just turned 4 which was the cutoff age. She stayed near him the entire time, giving extra assistance, and when he accidentally hit her with his lightsaber, she yelped and tucked her arm away like it had been cut off. It’s #throwbackthursday of #StarWarsSpiritWeek and with the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace approaching, I decided to share this Queen Amidala cutout that was a display item from Pepsi used to promote the movie in stores. At that time I knew a very nice Pepsi salesman, so he got me one. She’s rather large, standing around 6’7”. I’ll put the full photo in my story since the IG crop strikes again. It seems that many didn’t like the first prequel, but as a life long Star Wars fan it was so exciting to have a new movie coming out, to be alive to actually experience all of the excitement, and most importantly, to see the movie on the big screen!!🤩 The theaters were packed for weeks!! We’re coming up on the one year anniversary of our voyage on the Galactic Starcruiser. My greatest fear as we disembarked the Halcyon was that my memories of the most fantastical experience would slowly, or worse, quickly, fade away to nothing. I’m pleased to say they have not, and I think they might be as vivid as ever. I think a large credit is due to this incredible community of fellow former passengers and their willingness to share so much of their own journeys. It really has me thinking about the role of collective memory and how essential it is to preserving our own personal memories, and, perhaps more importantly, keeping a place, or a moment, or beloved characters, alive. In a sense this online scrapbook that we share creates a living, breathing, virtual altar, not unlike those beautiful altars put up for Dia De Los Muertos. And as many of us know from CoCo, it’s the act of remembering someone that allows them to live on in the afterworld. I see that lovely sentiment applying here, as well. So I guess my question today is, what works best for preserving memories for you? Is it looking through photos and videos, or talking about things from your past with friends and family members? BnW Wednesday seemed appropriate for this subject in combination with Star Wars Spirit Week. Thank you to @neverland_naturephotography and @shanestreetelectricalparade ✨ I may have mentioned to a few of you a long time ago that we have a vintage C-3PO doll still in great shape. It was actually a gift for my husband when he was a baby, presumably because my father-in-law loved Star Wars so much. My husband was born in 1977, the same year that Star Wars was released, for the non-fans out there :) It now occupies a place on my nightstand to remind me of my FIL. He passed away last year and was the only family member on my husband’s side who we were close with. He was a quiet man, and we often sat around in silence, but Star Wars was the one topic I could count on to bring us together. I was very thankful for the most recent trilogy of movies and all the recent shows on Disney+ that gave us something to talk about. #starwarsspiritweek #bnwwednesday #c3po
