Une de mes pièces favorites de cette collab LBW X KIABI ♥️♠️ Le legging imprimé cartes à jouer! Tout à commencé par cet imprimé, c'est le premier que j'ai dessiné, la plus grosse partie du boulot. L'idée c'était d'en faire la pièce phare et ensuite de décliner les motifs placés et autres imprimés plus "light" à côté pour jouer en mix and match, en ajoutant des rayures. Je n'ai jamais réussi à porter des dessins que j'avais fait, ou des produits que j'avais dessiné, mes enfants ont porté très peu de choses que j'avais dessiné également. Comme un besoin de dissocier le pro et le perso. Mais si celui ci avait existé en adulte, j'aurais peut-être pu faire une exception! Parce que je n'ai pas abordé cette capsule comme une mission professionnelle de plus à réaliser, mais comme un véritable terrain de jeu. Cela n'empêche que le métier de designer textile reste un VRAI métier, et que c'est un travail comme un autre de dessiner des motifs, mais sans brief et sans aucune contrainte c'est quand même beaucoup plus FUN! One of my favourite pieces from this LBW X KIABI collab ♥️♠️ The playing card print leggings! It all started with this print, it was the first one I designed, the biggest part of the job. The idea was to make it the flagship piece and then to mix and match patterns and other lighter prints, adding stripes. I've never managed to wear anything I've designed, or products I've designed, and my children have worn very few things I've designed either. It's like a need to dissociate the professional from the personal. But if they'd been adults, I might have been able to make an exception! Because I didn't approach this capsule as just another job to be done, but as a real playground. 'Walking Together' . 33cm x 54cm x 2.5cm each. Grogged Stoneware, porcelain & volcanic sand. 2023. . As I look at this new important chapter in my life, as I prepare to become a mother for the first time, I look forward and back for inspiration for the new work for this show. Firstly, I look at home. Nesting and nurture in the form of colour use; considering pigments to hand, to touch, to baby. The concern for the practical use of colour at a moment of vulnerability leads to monochromatic surfaces. Secondly, I look further a field for inspiration as I look back at important times of travel and journey to past residencies. Scotland, which references islands, mapping and lichen, interrupting and creating breaks in rhythmic lineage. Iceland, which references the different clay choices and basalt sand accents. To India, which reference pattern and movement over the forms. This new body of work aims to bring together this shift of life, journey, place and time into a conclusive point of this period. . 'Strange Friends' - currently @thedowse Sep 9 2023 – Jan 28 2024 This exhibition is an exploration of the painted figure shown through ten unique artist’s perspectives. Each has captured their own cast of characters and the environments they inhabit through a range of media. Some are based on actual spaces and faces while others are an amalgam of impressions either sampled from real life or plucked out of the imagination. There are towering cowboys, women inventors and sad flowers inhabiting miniature landscapes, windowpanes and shadowy stages. This is not an exhibition of formal portraits but a diverse celebration of ourselves reflected back at us in extraordinary ways. The artists in this exhibition are Alan Ibell, Andrew McLeod, Hannah Ireland, James Ormsby, John Ward Knox, Kate Small, Lorene Taurerewa, Nephi Tupaea, Sam Mitchell and Ursula Bradley. Currently on show with @make_hauserwirth In London, Saville Row. . 'Strange Friends' on now until 16 September 2023 . As I look at this new important chapter in my life, as I prepare to become a mother for the first time, I look forward and back for inspiration for the new work for this show. Firstly, I look at home. Nesting and nurture in the form of colour use; considering pigments to hand, to touch, to baby. The concern for the practical use of colour at a moment of vulnerability leads to monochromatic surfaces. Secondly, I look further a field for inspiration as I look back at important times of travel and journey to past residencies. Scotland, which references islands, mapping and lichen, interrupting and creating breaks in rhythmic lineage. Iceland, which references the different clay choices and basalt sand accents. To India, which reference pattern and movement over the forms. This new body of work aims to bring together this shift of life, journey, place and time into a conclusive point of this period. .
