New book! Technically book number 4 because I'm pretty close to finishing The Knife Of Never Letting Go. 🗡️📚 . This one is triggering me soooo bad, but kind of in a way I can cope with because I'm older and I have the ability to tell fat shaming arseholes to bugger off. Jemima Small Verses The Universe is about a large girl making her way through school and life, dealing with the bullying that comes along with having a body that is "the wrong shape". Honestly, I'm only a couple of chapters in but the fact that her parent ignores her weight related feelings, the adults all exchange "those" glances and the kids keep calling her Jemima Big and a whale... I mean, it just hits hard. 🐳👎 . I was bullied my entire school life - I mean, its no wonder I skived off school all the time and was always in trouble. I hated it and when I told people why, it wasn't a good enough reason. Some kids are arseholes at school, and I say that as a mum of 2. Kids are cruel sometimes and I am 27 and STILL get angry when people make comments about "fat people". I can't wait to finish this, I can tell that I'm going to finish this really quickly because I'm desperate to see if Jemima can overcome the cruelness of her peers and accept herself for who she is! I will report back when I'm done. 😁
