I was instantly interested in the story as I haven’t read anything like it before. Grayson is a morally grey shadow daddy with a humongous chip on his shoulder. Enter Quen who manages to get right under his skin. Cue witty banter, explosive arguments and hot make up schmexy time. I was up and down with some of the characters, I liked them then hated them then liked them again. I have to say I was very very disappointed with Charlie’s reaction though. As with so many holidays that I love, I may have overindulged on #cibd2024 and ended up purchasing eight books. Before heading out, I decided to try and focus my shopping on books that I have had my eye on for a while that are by Canadian authors, and I was mainly successful. this book is not my usual genre or style and in the beginning i was not sure how i felt about it - it was good and kept my attention but i was not sure where it was going and if i would like it. halfway through i could not put it down i was obsessed and had to keep reading. I really don’t want to give spoilers but I would have loved to see more from Tierney and who she falls in love with (lol trying not give spoilers) I felt like this story fell short I needed more I craved more. I also felt like the ending was a little rushed. Overall, I would recommend if you like stories like the Hunger Games because it is similar. YELLOWFACE | REVIEW Book Grade: C+ “Don’t ghosts just want to be remembered?” Personally, I struggle with novels where everyone is awful. This book was immensely readable, so I got through it pretty quickly, but - everyone in it sucks. I think the satirical approach to cultural appropriation and the elitist approach of the publishing industry was interesting and well done, especially the idea of image vs impact and what people really care about out. The writing is great. Overall, though, it wasn’t my favorite. I felt sections were really heavy-handed in their approach, and the whole book felt like it was filled with publishing in-jokes I didn’t understand. The Seven Year Slip - Ashley Poston 🌟: 5/5 - First of all, I LOVE magical realism; where we exist in the real world but there are little pockets of magic hidden around, like the magical apartment in this story. The characters were lovable, the banter was so cute, and I really believed the chemistry between the two main characters. Also, Iwan is officially added to my list of book boyfriends. My favorite part of this story was that although it was light and romantic, the romance almost took a backseat to Clementine’s journey with grief, and finding who she was post-loss. It addressed grief in such a beautiful and tangible way. Not gonna lie, the ending had me cryin in the club. This book is one that I will revisit in the future, I absolutely loved it. 🎧: ACOTAR by Sarah J. Mass ⭐️: 3.5/5 (rounding down on #goodreads) Influenced by the friends that encouraged me to pick up Fourth Wing, I decided to give A Court of Thorns and Roses a listen — a high fantasy book that is outside of my to-date fantasy reads toe-dipping. For the record, I definitely am a romantasy fan (hi, Fourth Wing/Iron Flame/Empyrean series). I definitely am a dark academia fantasy fan (hi, Ninth House/Hell Bent/Alex Stern series). I was given a few pieces of advice before this listen, which I’m happy I was told: this first book in the series isn’t necessarily spectacular, but a means to an end. For what it’s worth, the back half of this listen was a solid listen, filled with action and suspense where I couldn’t stop listening - the added half star rating is reflective of that. The first half sets the scene, but it definitely dragged (painfully, at times). I listened to the Graphic Audio version of the audiobook, where it’s broken into two parts, with a full production. It upped the listening experience of the second half, for sure.

Ces bébés sont ensuite enlevés par les nazis pour les "germaniser" auprès de familles allemandes. Mais un espoir demeure, dans le plus grand secret, elle va tatouer les bébés avec le matricule de leur mères, pour espérer les retrouver à la fin de la guerre 🙏 Je vous laisse découvrir le reste 🔥 Ce roman est juste incroyable !!! Dur, déchirant et bouleversant, en bref, il faut avoir le coeur bien accroché, au vu des évènements narrés ici-même !!! L'histoire se décompose en 3 parties. La 1ère, nous explique les directives misent en place contre les juifs. Notamment, leur exclusion de la population dite "normale". La 2ème partie se déroule à Auschwitz-Birkenau quand Ana va se voir attribuer la tâche de mettre au monde les bébés et la 3ème partie, l'heure de la libération 🔥 Chaque étape est un crève coeur !! On ne peut rester indifférent à ce malheur ! L'auteure s'est basé sur des témoignages, des faits réels, des archives pour nous plonger au plus près de l'horreur qu'ont vécues ces femmes 😱 Ana est un personnage incroyable. Sa détermination, son dévouement, son humanité sont des qualités qui lui ont permis d'aider ses co-détenues, qu'elles soient juives ou non. Elle est un peu une mère pour toutes les femmes qu'elle a accouchés mais aussi un mentor pour le personnage d'Ester. Ester m'a particulièrement touchée 🥺 Sa détresse, ses peines et ses peurs m'ont totalement chamboulés 😭 Le pire a été leur combat pour protéger les enfants. Dans l'enfer des camps, elles ont réussit à mettre en place le système de tatouage pour retrouver un jour, ces enfants perdus de la "germanisation" 🙏 Courage, détermination, survie sont les maitres mots de ce roman !! C'est l'histoire de notre monde dans sa pire période.... N'oubliez pas, rien ne justifie un génocide 🙏 Respectez vous et apprenez les uns des autres 🔥🔥

As I'm deep in The Hemlock Queen, and obsessing once again with Hannah Whitten's world creation, it felt perfect to give away a copy of her first duology: For The Wolf and For The Throne. A dark, romantic fantasy with a bit of Red Riding Hood and a little bit of Beauty and the Beast retellings, (with the second book leaning a bit into the tale of Snow White and Rose Red) this lush duo is utterly imaginative and will transport you to a wood dark and deep. You'll follow Red's sacrificial journey to save her kingdom, and Neve's reign to save her sister. "The first daughter is for the Throne. The second daughter is for the Wolf." 🧊🐍🗡️ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 🐍 𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 5✨ 9/10 - Amazing, can’t get enough 🇬🇧 For me QON was an absolutely amazing completion of the series. Not an Endgame, but I think that is not even necessary to portray the story of Jude and others. I find this series very realistically portrayed, I really feel that the author is thinking about the story from the POV of each and every character and this is very much reflected in the actions of the individual characters. The plot at the very beginning is, in its own way, very frustrating, but Jude manages to spice it up in a very interesting way and once again proves herself to be resistant to anything. The twist that solves the frustrating part of the story is an absolute bomb for me, I love that this event happened! The second quarter of the book gets a really interesting touch and gives us the opportunity to get to know other parts of this world and, along with it, its inhabitants and their brutal stories. The whole storyline with Madoc and his “partners in crime” got me. At this time, we learn about one aspect that I personally could not get out of my head and kept thinking about it, and the moment it could be dealt with, I basically screamed at Jude! I was extremely shocked and thus pleased by where the whole story suddenly got and where it went afterwards, even though I was slightly anxious about the development of events. The denouement of the book is very cute in its own way, which under normal circumstances would bother me, but I simply trust and believe the characters. For this, Holly Black has a great round of applause from me, because I don’t easily accept any kind of “they lived happily ever after”. I will only say one thing about Jude and Cardan - LOVE, nothing more is needed. But I have to comment on Taryn. Bestie, I don’t forget, maybe you can wrap everyone around your finger, but not me. Even though she did one thing that I personally dreamed of, she didn’t get a lot of points from me. On the other hand, Madoc gets a lot of points, despite how he angered me and what he was able to do, he is extremely sympathetic to me in his straightforward cold-bloodedness Highly recommend!
