A few weeks ago I commented casually in a post that I really needed to get around to finding a strap for a particular vintage Seiko that I'd had for some years, so I could actually wear it. In a lovely gesture, a friend and fellow collector from all the way over in the US, Chad ( @ckstime ) - one of the IG watch communities true gentlemen - sent me a 19mm RSM strap, and I have to say, it's a perfect fit for my Seiko Bell-Matic, and sets of that subtle gray dial beautifully. Chad also does some amazing watch photography, and I adore his nature shots that often come along with his watch posts. This IG watch collecting community that we're a part of really is a great community. There's something intangibly appealing about the signs of time on this 1960's Omega Chronostop Regatta. For me, it was love at first sight when I initially came across this one, but it took literally months of negotiating before I could add it to the collection. With a very badly scratched crystal, water marks and in dire need of servicing, it took even longer before it could be worn and enjoyed. A sad day today - after a couple of vet visits yesterday, this evening we lost one of our four footed family - cancer sucks. One of the very few watches in the collection that never gets worn. At no time did I ever plan on collecting military watches, but it happened nevertheless, and now I do have a small collection of them, though it's really more about conserving and respecting a part of history.
