Celebrating milestones and success is something I’m very poor at. But I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me. Today I was reviewing the history of my channel for some content I’m making including a slideshow for Instagram to show the journey. In the past few years this is the first time since 2016 we didn’t grow by 100K subs in a year on YouTube, but I’m not the least bit sad about it. This year was a focus on BUILDING Instead of GROWTH and now we have raised the ceiling and I feel happier and healthier than I have in a long time. In 2019 you all supported my personal growth and journey and allowed me to be vulnerable with you. Many of you came for my events for public speaking, and also joined my discord and now the new subreddit. You embraced my goals of wanting to bring the community together. In 2019 I got to be part of great events for the first time like @inbound because of your support. And this year I got to go to @cameracamplife and finally got to meet @ijustine one of my favorite creators of all time. 2019 saw me take a hard look at the next 5 years and really prioritizing my health. I worked hard and lost 9lbs with a few weeks of focus. I took some long breaks from #YouTube and it improved my health and stamina. 2020 is going to be the #BestYearEver because it’s going to be year that I feel the strongest in my delivery and the work that I’m doing. And I owe a lot of that to five amazing community. It may not always seem like it but as an #introvert approaching new ppl is something that is still hard for me, but at #SonyCameraCamp I got to connect with ppl I’ve been talking to online for months or years, or have seen in passing at events. . . Everyone was so kind and open. Many people don’t feel that the community is something they can ever be a part of but in truth we all are just struggling with a fear of being judged or hurt. . . When you realize that people are just people and many of them are going through exactly what you’re going through or believe in the same things, it become easier to connect. . . I had some great conversations with @jaxaustin, @heynadine @funforlouis @rayawashere @mondobytes @sidneydiongzon and so many others. . . We made memories, opened up about a lot of things and also created some of the best content we’ve ever done. I feel very privileged to have had this opportunity and I’m more grateful than I can express. . . Also experiencing @glaciernps has made me want to speak up about something I’ve been keeping to myself... protecting our national parks is so important... . . The time I got to spend in nature reconnected me with a part of myself that has felt missing for so long and I am more committed than ever to using my platform not only to motivate people to take better care of themselves and each other, but also take care of our planet. . . My personal #photography and #artwork is something I don’t share that often. But it is something I am tremendously proud of and it has always been something that makes me feel good about myself. . . Speaking on stage at events like #INBOUND19 are an honor and a privilege, but also very a bit scary. . . Having an audience is a responsibility and so many want influencer purely for what it does to better their own lives and situation. . . When I take the stage I have 2 very important things I have to do: Make sure people are prepared and make sure they are confident in the work they are going to do moving forward. . . If I can do that and be impactful, it justifies the time and attention they gave me out of their busy day and it means I earned the privileged position of being an #influencer or #thoughtleader. . . Every single person regardless of their follower count should feel the real weight of their words and actions and try not to take them for granted. . . When I get on that stage, I’m nervous every single time. I get butterflies and I’m just wondering how I’m going to trip (literally) during my presentation. And I get up and do it anyway because of the chance I might change someone’s career or business. . . I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard a speech from @schmittastic or @isocialfanz or @garyvee that has me do a micro pivot in my business. . . Show up for ppl and add value to their lives. It makes you more INTENTIONAL in everything that you do and everything that you are working on. Often I will ask myself: “Does this get us any closer to our goals in anyway?” . . While at #VidCon I got to meet and hang out with Kitty from @atolavisuals one of my favorite creators on #YouTube. . . Meeting other creators and learning about what they are doing is why I love going to events. We talked a lot about content and business but also how to move forward as a creator who also runs a business. . . There are many content creators large and small and everything in between that don’t necessarily just do #YouTuberLife full-time. . . Many run businesses or work jobs they actually enjoy. Been spending more time reading and added some new editions to the bookshelf. Right now I’m reading a few books on #TEDTalks as that is s goal of mine and I’ve shifted the style and structure of my videos to make every YouTube video essentially a TED Talk going forward. . . There are things I’ve known for but I want to be more known for my style and delivery than for any given topic because people come for the TOPIC itself and I need to make ME a bit more sticky because if ppl quit on trying to be an entrepreneur or creator, that is part of having an inactive audience... . . But also in the long run I want to become known as a truly great speaker and it’s been a dream of mine to become a 6 Figure speaker. But I need to make certain moves for that to happen and move from 5 to 6 over the next year or two. . . There is also the fact that speaking will grow my coaching business (link in bio) and my ability to consult with and do workshops with brands. . . For me #YouTube has never been my dream, which s lot of ppl still don’t understand about me or my content.., it’s a marketing appliance that happens to pay me to market my business and personal brand... . .
