We've been married for 10 years now, but it wasn't until Jesus told us to follow Him a year or so ago that we got closer. God will now speak the same thing to both of us, and then when we talk to each other, we simply confirm it. We now need each other in order to follow the Lord, something that was never required for most of our marriage before. In fact, we barley talked about what God wanted from us as a family 😅...we were just stuck in every day life. Of course every day life does not go away with following Jesus, but I noticed a clear difference between following the Lord and being stuck. Following requires faith, and dropping everything if need be, and I found that it needed to be done immediately without excuses. The gospels are full with examples of people getting an invitation and without hesitation taking it. I chose this example which highlights excuses as well: Luke 14:16-24: [16] Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, [17] and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ [18] But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ [19] And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ [20] Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ [21] So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’ [22] And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ [23] Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR CHOICES Let’s cut through the B.S! ✂️🐮💩 Often times when Im out socialising and chatting away I ask people if they exercise. A lot of the time they say yes which makes me happy, but then some feed me the lame excuses of too expensive, no time, or a sore wang wang. It does my head in because end of the day these people are just throwing away their potential, health and wellness for some crap that brings no value to their lives. Here is some hard truth. Not training or cancelling your gym membership because “its too hard” or “I dont have time” or “too expensive”, while you spend your money on $7 coffees, take away food and online shopping to satisfy that need for instant gratification or to feel ‘happy’ in that moment. It is not happy it is just filling the gaps, there is no real value in it, It is just pure lazy. The gym and being healthy isn’t just some optional luxury, it is your life line to becoming a stronger, healthier, happier you. But again instead of prioritising your health you’d rather waste your time and money on things that do nothing for you long term. When life gets tough, and it will, what do you turn to? Your favourite series and binge watch it with shit food because you think it makes you feel good at the time? Or do you find solace in the hard work and sweat whilst pushing yourself to new limits? Stop making excuses and start taking responsibility for your choices. The gym isn’t going to magically make you fit overnight, but it will give you the tools, the support and the structure you need to succeed. It comes down to whether you are willing to put in the work! So before you cancel a gym membership or make another excuse not to join one and instead make another impulse buy online, ask your self this question. Starting my journey, I spent so much time using language like… “ I shouldn’t have that” “ I can’t eat that” “I have to workout “ Have to, can’t, should, shouldn’t… These words made me feel like I was being forced to eat healthy and workout. I was so frustrated that I wasn’t naturally thin like others and I felt bad I had let myself gain so much weight. But I had to change the way I spoke about my journey because IT DIDN’T SERVE ME . I didn’t HAVE to do anything. But I WANTED to. I wanted to eat better because I knew it would make me feel better, give me more energy and help me hit my goals. I wanted to exercise because I wanted to become stronger and get in shape so simple things like carrying my grandson up the stairs didn’t exhaust me. I wanted to wake up earlier so I could start my day taking care of myself and I loved the way it made me feel. ❌Do not make yourself a victim to your journey. You don’t have to do this, you are CHOOSING this so you can feel your best. OWN IT !!! Take back your power.
