Day 3 and the theme was beauty. New Zealand has well and truly stolen my heart. It started with a lovely breakfast in Whitianga before hopping on a boat to explore Cathedral Cove and more! Then a drive out to Karangahake Gorge for some lovely falls and ‘tramping’ featuring suspension bridges. The sun came out to play today and just magnified the beauty and splendour of all I was lucky to see. I then drove to Mt Maunganui to climb it, followed by a tasty dinner and capped off with a relaxing soak in a hot spa. Day 2. Home tomorrow but kids wanted another night away and how could I say no!! So we had a walk this morning. Nearly knocked myself out in a tunnel and gave myself a nice egg on the head which the kids have name Edgar and then off we went to find another camp site. @sapphirespringsholidaypark to the rescue. This place is awesome. Lovely hot swimming pools and spa pools. Right next to the river. A Feijoa Tree that remained unchecked for this season until today... previous seasons it has given one fruit in total... this season 🤩 Feijoas all over the ground! Given a wee shake, MORE Feijoas on the ground 👏 It's under a Walnut Tree so obviously not affected by the juglone. There are also Flax, Manuka and Figs close by... they all seem healthy too. Either I've fluked it and these species aren't affected by juglone, or, as below: I have read much information about not growing plants next to Walnut due to the allelopathic toxins released into the root zone of the Walnut. Only once have I read that this is lab based information that may not be 100% relevant in the non-sterile real world we live in. New Zealand is beautiful, and its oceans always remind me how great life can be when you let it flow and put your energy into the present moment. Something, I'm definitely guilty of forgetting. I can often get caught up in the How's, why's, should of, could of and the what ifs of life. If the past few years have taught me anything, it's that amazing things always happen when I let go of the need to control. It's time to let go of the fear.
