Shackleford Horses - Prints available soon. % donated. Info below… 06.09.21 I was able to photograph these magnificent horses at Shackleford Banks and walked away with over 400 usable shots (over the course of a day and different locations). I will spend the next week or so sifting through them and hopefully that is enough time to finish editing some… I will slowly load a selection of the best ones via my website vis the Fine Art Print section & 10% of the total sale will be donated to The Foundation for Shackleford Horses. Links in bio. 8x10’s start at $70 USD plus 7% tax. I will try to get a couple up in the next 24 or so hours. This set was shortly after I arrived and then after that 2 had snuck up behind me (at different times) and scared the ever-loving-bejesus out of me. One neighed and the other just blew at me like they were talking to me saying, “hey what’s up? And, “Whoooo are youuuu?”… PROCEED WITH CAUTION if you are photographing these animals as they are WILD HORSES and not a domesticated animal. They are not pets. People should keep their distance of at least 50 feet (this is posted and online) and I was well beyond that distance. I actually had to back up to maintain a safe distance at times. I photographed the horses with a professional grade camera and a telephoto lens (I am a professional photographer by trade). 2015 Snowflakes 56-ish/365 Circa: 02.23.2015. I’m not sure if I’ve shared this one or not. There is a fine art to capturing snowflakes and I’m not sure it really gets cold enough here to really capture them well (they basically melt on impact). That and I have the shakiest hands. But here’s one from the phone archive since I’m behind and not great at this photo-a-day gig. I’m not sure if it’s even sized for @instagram. I often get asked what I do for post processing for headshots... generally, I only; color correct, smooth skin, remove blemishes, and sharpen eyes. If you are wearing makeup and your lipstick/eyeliner has smudged, I’ll fix it. And on the rare occasion I will add makeup if you request it (this may encounter an extra fee). If magazine retouch is what you would prefer, I will send it to my retoucher (enquire for fees). I’m looking to present the best version of yourself, not a person that looks oddly similar to you. I normally shoot through my ring light... But, here you see the final product and work backwards to where I’m completely barefaced, no makeup. This is not “magazine retouched”. In photoshop; I used a variety of brushes, sharpened pupils, highlights under eyes, and added light at the nose. Color corrected. In Lightroom I used a custom preset to flip it black and white. I’m not a photo-retoucher by any means but, WYSIWYG. I don’t typically use any liquify for anything - I’ll save that for the magazines. Are you ready for your updated headshot?

I posted sparingly on my personal side, but my biz size has been rather dark. Not that I didn’t have anything to share. Quite the opposite. But, in keeping up with everything, including social media, seemed to cause undue stress that I think had been unnecessary. My social media presence is in essence the balloon string I had been holding onto that I sort of let go of. And as a business, I don’t know if that’s a good thing to do... My inquiries come through my website and not so much on my social media end, but I think it’s important to keep up with my followers and say, “hi” from time to time. I’m going to try this again. And maybe this time, not stress over it as much to try to stay relevant. 😉 Keep smiling. Lauren.
I enjoyed my snuggle time with Isaac, soooo much! I can’t get enough bebe snuggles (and smells). His bright eyes and big smile warmed my soul. ››› I sometimes get requests asking for a newborn session outside of the :::“newborn 2 week window of opportunity”::: (said in a low, deep, voice). If you don’t know, newborns are the most sleepy and less startled for newborn portraits within the first two weeks after birth. And, some photographers will refuse to do a session outside that window (not me!)… But you know, sometimes life just gets in the way. And it’s hard to come in RIGHT after birth. So, I do my best to get sleepy newborn portraits and roll with the punches. Those sweet smiles are worth it (if it happens) and those big eyes are always sweet, no matter what.
