I meant to post this yesterday but I was looking at stone buildings in Bath. It’s now been three years since Slab Design Union was restarted, and whilst progressing the business has been very tough at times, I remain very proud of the fact we are still active and are developing our client base, making strong industry connections and having the opportunity to work on challenging and exciting projects. Being a sole practitioner is not easy; you take it all on, do it all yourself, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. We are starting year four with our first project due to complete on site, some fantastic new projects that we’ll be sharing details of soon, and we are finally learning to get support from other professional services for things we can’t do. To say I am proud of my baby horse is an understatement. I have not swung a leg over this horse but twice, the last time being at least 9 months ago. Had a good 30 minute lunge session focusing on cues and transitions, making that baby brain work and decided last minute to see what she remembered. Hopped right up on her, asked for little steps forward and she was a very willing girl. @tippy024 took his girl out for some fun this afternoon while Archie and I rested at home. He sent me this photo and all at once it hit me. I could not believe my eyes. My baby is not a baby anymore. In less than two months she’ll be three (going on sixteen), and this weekend, between the astoundingly intelligent conversation and her big girl beauty, I realized we’ve gone from baby to toddler to preschooler in the blink of an eye. I don’t wish for time to slow down because I love nothing more than watching her grow and learn and change and explore the great big world around her, but I do now fully understand the sentiment of missing who our children once were and will never be again. In sum, I am filled with immense gratitude to have been given the gift to be this amazing creature’s mother. She gives us a run for our money every single day. She takes no shit.
