Omg 😱 I found out that my song Feral Child WON SECOND PLACE in the International Songwriters Day Contest! I am so humbled and grateful for this recognition. I wrote this song to the inner child who was crying out for reunion. I was a little scared to write it, because it’s one of the most vulnerable songs I’ve written. I was drawn to release my new song, “You Set me On Fire” on the solar eclipse, next Monday April 8, the day the moon comes between us and the sun. I wrote this song to all the mystical, moon loving, weird, intuitive, witches and seers. Throughout history they have been misunderstood, projected onto, feared, even burned and killed for gifts that ultimately are healing and important for the world. To this day, folks outside of the norm and especially women are not allowed to hold spiritual power positions. And many of us that have this mystical or spiritual side hide it, because of this history of oppression and fear. Recently, I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with creating album artwork as well as poster artwork. I’ve always been inspired by digital artwork, however, graphic design is not one of my strong skills, I’d say. I do alot of graphic design related tasks for my day job but that doesn’t make me a true graphic designer. At least not to me. With that being said, I’ve been slowly trying to learn some useful graphic design tips n tricks to hopefully better my personal work, if not my professional work. Meet Mama. She’s the sweetest little pit bull, she’s loving the indoor sun and Hawaiian music this morning. Thanks to KVMR, it’s our Sunday tradition, it relaxes her and inspires me. We found this beautiful doggie wondering the country roads of yolo county with no chip and no one claimed her. She wouldn’t react or come to any names we picked for her. She surprised us with 10 puppies 6 months later, that’s when her name settled in with us. She was the best Mama with her darling little pittbull/border collie crosses, each one was marked differently and beautiful happy pups. She loves her family, hanging out with her little brother, and her blue blanket which brings her security and comfort when needed. We never stoped creating music, but always stoped short of releasing anything. We were never excited with the current music scene but we took a leap of faith and released our first album, which was completed 5 years ago. I’m excited to share that In just 3 months we have already racked up over 3000 monthly listeners on Spotify and our songs have been added to over 1000 personal playlists and over 15.000 streams to date. It feels amazing to have resonated with our fan base. In the coming weeks we will be releasing material much more frequently.
