“TAKE A BREATH” MALHAM COVE, NORTH YORKSHIRE. We walked from Malham village to Malham Cove through the meadow land that is the setting for Malham Cove. The soft sound of the stream gently trickled alongside us, creating a soothing backdrop as Malham Cove came into view. Once at Malham Cove, we climbed the steps to the top, where we saw this stunning view of the countryside and distant fields. Take a breath here to admire the view and catch your breath after the climb. It’s also the perfect spot for a picnic, allowing you to linger and enjoy the view for longer. From the top of Malham Cove, we ventured across the huge cracked stones and descended to Janet’s Foss waterfall. After a little paddle to cool down and another rest we walked back to the village for tea and cake. It’s a lovely family day out with the kids. we’ve had such a relaxing few days in the yorkshire dales for our anniversary 🥰 probably the best trip we’ve ever taken 🏡 we stayed at @beckhallmalham for one night, it’s a fully vegan hotel so perfect for eating & drinking! second night we stayed at @whittakersbarnfarmbnb also very lovely and vegan-friendly 🌊 janet’s foss is one of the most gorgeous places i’ve ever been to it’s like a little fairy land, more on that in a separate post but it’s only a 20 min walk from beck hall ! ⛰️ we spent this morning sat at the bottom of malham cove in the rock pool it’s soo majestic and peaceful, sat there for like an hour just watching the rock climbers do their thing from our safe spot on land 🤣 🌳 you can reach both those spots on the same circular walk (3ish hours i think?) and also hit up gordale scar (big waterfall) as part of that but we did it all separately so didn’t make it to gordale in the end - next time !! we will be back loads i’m sure 🧖🏾♀️spent yesterday eve at @theconistonhotel for their twilight spa sesh, vegan options weren’t great but they never are at spas and it’s ok bc that’s not what you go for - also the view from the outdoor hot tubs more than made up for it, it was sooo lush. literally felt so happy sat in that tub with my silly green smoothie 🥬 lovely jubbly love u @dannyjacques !
5 am rising at Malham Cove. Goredale Scar. Janet’s Foss, Yorkshire. A brief scene from Harry Potter Deathly Hallows back in December had me saying, “we have to camp there”. It didn’t disappoint. Pitched beneath a tree in the nook of the cove, soothed to sleep by flowing beck and occasionally slapped into consciousness by screaming foxes. The gnarled limestone is surreal against the back drop of smooth rolling hills - an ice age signature. A short stroll through pasture and dale brings you to Goredale Scar, an incredible rip in the land that took my breath away. The small waterfall from the scar, runs down to Janet’s Foss with its pool of crisp clear water. Passing through lush green meadows, the gentle trickle of a nearby stream accompanied our steps.
