Although I’m one for grim weather and apocalyptic images that’s not how I would like to see our country. I wish for it to thrive. I want to venture into politics a little with this mornings post. Im quite concerned about the way the country is headed if im honest, I think my work reflects a grim feeling of despair but it’s only meant to be fiction. I’m particularly concerned about the way things are going in the NHS, hospitals are like war zones, and the state of doctors and the lack of appointments is quite frankly not acceptable. The mental health services to me, and from personal experience are not fit for purpose and are costing people lives. I’m very concerned at the fact there is growing poverty and along with that crime issues are mounting in the cities, in our region in particular rural crime and thefts some which are violent. Along with the crime I think linked to this is very a poor affordable housing stock, people are finding it impossible to buy which is bad enough but even the chances of renting somewhere decent is beginning to look like a lottery. I genuinely believe the only party that can change things is The @uklabour Party and that’s why during the mayoral elections I will be voting for @davidskaith . His background is business and a fresh into politics offering, this to me feels important as a fresh approach to things is completely necessary. I know all too well from studying politics and international relations that a text book politician is not what we need, we need somebody who is grass roots and has worked and felt the challenges as a local and as a businessman in our region. I think this mayoral election is a really important one, we need to send a clear message to the Tory’s, not anymore. OMG. The most amazing thing happened today. Sam Campling @smiley_scamp and I rode out on my boys together. Only Spartan’s second ride out and the first time with the two of them. He had a couple of bounces at the start but settled down well and even started listening to my leg and had fewer stuck moments than the first ride that we did.
