From Amazon: "Early disparagement imprints lifelong low self-esteem, a social phobia impairing concentration along with a stultifying dread of authority figures. An overall shoddy rearing-style that ensures educational and professional disappointment nowhere near approximating those lofty aspirations. Genius or genes doesn't factor so much as the fundamental influence of competent, caring guardians. A Schizoid at Smith: How Overparenting Leads to Underachieving is a breakthrough female narrative instilling greater understanding and possible prevention of this cryptic condition. The memoir is set mostly in the 60s, the heyday of classic rock; icons appear as bit players providing the protagonist's saving grace." #bookrecommendations #recommendedreading #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthreading #schizoid #memoir #womenswriting

"We are never so wise as when we live in the moment.” Paul Kalanithi presents a shift in perspective, away from living for the future and instead focusing on what is of most importance in the present moment. In this short autobiography, Kalanithi wrestles with values, work, family, and "the meaning of it all" while living under the shadow of terminal illness. His honesty and vulnerability provide readers with a renewed opportunity to connect with their personal values and the beauty of life in the here-and-now. Marble Wellness Therapist, Skyler Martin highly recommends this book for your reading list in 2024! Comment below if you have read this one! #marblewellness #stl #stlouis #stltherapy #missouri #mentalhealth #mentalhealthreading #whenbreathbecomesair #paulkalanithi
