We had a beautiful meditation session last night. We took a flight to the astral plane and got answers on how to expand by switching our mindsets in the direction of positive growth. This throat chakra is a test machine embroidery. I am creating 6 ft banners of each of the seven chakras for my solo exhibition ULTRAVIOLET a life of purpose. The solo exhibition @olinhallgalleries opens September 8th and is open to the public. I still have a number of pieces to finish but I am enjoying the process so much. I am taking each piece as it comes and not in a rushed mindset. However that does not mean waves of panic do not hit me every now and again. God blesses us in many ways, and I’m so grateful for our homeschool co-op families that were able to be at our closing reception today. (They had a distance to drive to be there.) My heart is full!! ❤️ So encouraging. There were a few other friends not pictured that came too. I appreciate all the positive feedback. It’s so nice to hear people’s responses to one’s work and which are their favorites. We don’t want to give it all away but these paintings are just too good not to post. Donald Nield passed away in 1984. This is his first solo show. This body of work has never been shown to the public. With the help of Nield’s close friend, we were able hang 46 of the incredible works. Link in bio for the opening reception this Friday, 6-8pm. Last year my friend Joanne Cassullo inherited this great long Caddie and asked me to get Kenny Scharf to Karbombz! it for Roanoke College, her alma mater. It was flatbedded from Fort Worth to KS studio in Los Angeles for the ritual, which I took pictures of. I REALLY wanted to drive it cross country to Virginia and make a short film about the American cultural landcape, but alas it wasn't meant to be. I understand Norma will have her coming out party on Parents Weekend in October. Amy Herzel has been a multidisciplinary artist for twenty years with training in painting and printmaking from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and an M. Ed in Art Education from the Tyler School of Arts. Her art has been on display in Texas, Virginia,Tennessee, North Carolina, California, and soon Korea. A mother of two and a Korean adoptee from New York, she now has been living in the Roanoke area for seven years. With her husband in Afghanistan, she uses her artwork to keep an optimistic attitude in the absurdity of one's life. We are very pleased to announce with some fantastic news on the last day of #fourxfive that the fantastic work by William Burton Binnie titled “Preface (Mt Rushmore)” has been acquired by Roanoke College Olin Hall Galleries for their permanent collection. Recently Binnie wrote about the work the following lines; “...depicts the iconic granitecliff-face in the Black Hills of South Dakota in its original state, before bearing the colossal busts of four US presidents. Often positioned as a shrine to democracy, this national monument represents just as much the US government’s theft of sacred native lands—in this case, of the land known as The Six Grandfathers (Tȟuŋkášila Šákpe) to the Lakota Sioux. Three years ago today, Olin Hall Galleries opened the Legacy Exhibition where Joanne Leonhardt Cassullo announced her endowment to Roanoke College and the beginning of the Joanne Leonhardt Cassullo Center for Art.
