April has been a month of blossoming. Inner work, seeking peace and abundance. 🌷 Not without its fair share of growing pains (not to sound dramatic, but just being real.) Traveling to the mountains and reconnecting with nature. I am nature, and nature is me. Traveling to LA, seeing old friends and building new relationships in SD. Finding and creating. Sacred and divine feminine spaces. They are everywhere. Seeking, what is it, that makes me feel most like me? What resonates with the life I truly want to build? And how can I lean into that? How can I welcome in that energy, and keep building on it, as summer approaches? How can I welcome more love in, and how can I freely offer it? What obstacles do I need to remove to let it flow? Continuing work on my latest watercolor series, Chakra Landscapes. Throat Chakra is making excellent progress, but has been taking the longest. Hmmm wonder if that’s trying to tell me something? Expressing myself isn’t always easy. But I do it so others feel empowered to do so too. I wouldn’t have that permission slip if there weren’t other amazing beautiful women who have done it before me, showing me it’s possible to have a life worth fighting for. When dealing with someone with a blocked throat chakra they might harshly judge you or find your comfort level in expressing yourself freely triggering because THEY do not feel empowered enough to clearly articulate their own needs or receive the level of attention / external validation required by their traumatized inner child. When you are emotionally healthy, wounded people will project their own insecurities onto you. Just remember it is not your job to fix them, nor is it your job to change, make yourself smaller, quieter, or dimmer in their presence. Allow your light to keep burning bright. Chakras are powerful energy centers that align with the elements. In my current practice series, we’ve been traveling up the chakra system, using them as tools to clear space and recreate a sense of connection, allowing us to set conditions for a sense of renewal. I’d love to bring forward the throat chakra, which is associated with the element of ether, which implies a sense of spaciousness. This fifth energy center is often described as the bridge between the heart and the head. Known as the communication hub, it governs all the ways we communicate—how we move out in the world and express ourselves as well as how we receive and the quality of our receptivity and listening. Here’s the thing: we often don’t think about how we communicate to ourselves, which is a critical aspect of developing the art and skill of self-expression. Self-compassion can shift the way we talk to ourselves, care for ourselves, and communicate and advocate for ourselves. This is the part of our self-development that allows us to be in communication with each other and life itself. It’s often said that as we develop this aspect of ourselves, we begin to forge a connection with our authentic voice. It relates to self-expression as well as our ability to create boundaries and ask for needs and wants… and speak up and stand up for ourselves. And our ability to speak up for each other. As you can see, communication is a complex process. But one thing is clear: When we learn to communicate compassionately with ourselves, we can get better at making space for others to communicate their truth.
