metaverse of sadness, It was a moment when the world froze, conversation muted to just two voices. Across the void, we wedged in between us, dancing around unspeakable sadness. We understood the flaws of each ideal, waxed lyrical on tawdry stuff, knowing inevitably that one thing said wrong would burn this moment. It drove us to confront demons long slumbering, perhaps opened us to a vulnerability we both hid from the world. But this moment was always ours to have. I proposed once that in every parallel universe, there was always us—two people confused on life's nuance, that found each other in broken times, needed each other's worldview for months, but only months. Through the years we knew each other, that was all we needed; this was our moment. Our epic journey of self led us to each other once more, inevitably the flames would come, passion erupt into anger, the void ever stretching between me and them. We would be quiet, almost as if we'd forgotten about each other, as if we'd left each other in the flames, It'd be quiet once more, and we'd move on, to some other whimsical love story. There was nothing more crazy or unbelievable about this moment, this fantastic conglomeration of insanity almost as if some screenwriter had written it verbatim. Every time Our Moment came, it would be followed by the inevitable downfall, of more—me wanting more, her wanting less. Something that would be confused and muddy only because we knew that the ideals we had in our heads as teenage youths were never going to be perfect. The pain inevitably would decide, somebody else would take each of our hands, and we'd live our life for another couple of years until the same moment, where the worlds freeze, and inevitably would be... a, how do you say, placed in this crazy position, where we'd reach out to clasp at that recognition, that understanding, that we both long for in life when it wasn't the greatest. People say that it was a toxic friendship. It was something; it was nothing more than an endless epiphany of nonsense, maybe, maybe?, a kindred spirit, but alas, this was our moment, that's how it should have been in the metaverse of sadness.
