We had a fun time burning the weeds and sunflowers off the bottom field yesterday... despite the wind that kept changing directions and wouldn’t allow the burn time to take down the tops of the plants. Next time we’re going to chop it first to compact everything before we burn. We were so busy this past weekend / beginning of the week that I didn’t have the energy to post our progress! Projects completed this weekend: -Danny cut four fields and was able to bale and pick up one while the other three need to be team worked to bale and pick up -I cut the house grass and Danny cut the shop grass into windrows then I hauled the grass into the garden to beat some of the weeds -We worked together to transplant pumpkin sprouts to keep them out of the scorching sun -I replaced cucumbers that got killed in the rain with regular and garlic chives -We helped wrangle two runaway jerseys, then rework our yards so they couldn’t get out again -We trimmed down old, decaying trees -Took a few walks to check on the corn (only minor washout from the storm on Sunday) -Danny moved sheep around in barns and set up fans / removed steel siding for ventilation -Danny made a neat deck railing ... so yeah, we’re pretty pooped, but there’s nothing we’d rather be doing! #farmlife #farm #teamwork #TheKrogerFarm #livestock #gardenlife #notill #haying #baling #work

Many people tried to fight the heat today- but we embraced it! Top three things done today: 1. Made sure the sprayer worked to get out in the field soon, 2. Put up trusses and pearlins on the new hay shed, 3. Got more fruit planted in the no till section and started the pumpkin and gourd seeds inside!
