So much so that I’m a few days behind in making posts. 😅 Life is pretty good. Baby girl can usually give us 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep throughout the night. That said, she spent last night and tonight having some intense cluster feeding sessions. I kind of suspect she’s hitting that 3 week growth spurt. There’s a viral video going around where women were stopped on the street and asked, “Would you rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear?”, and the majority response was “bear”. Now if I could go back and choose pandemic isolation with the vile narcissist who slowly devoured me over time, playing a cat a mouse game with my heart and soul, or possibly being mauled by a bear, I’d choose the latter. I cannot erase the damage that the human monster did for no valid reason (other than his own unresolved trauma, fear of unworthiness, and need for a constant ego-feed); I just have to live with it as best I can. (And it is still utterly unbearable. How ironic is that?) At least a bear would have used me for good reason, food, and made sure I was dead. (Scroll to read just a few of the innumerable similar comments by other women. We are a world comprised of women trying to escape an ever-increasing world of patriarchal abuse. And you wonder why childbirth has declined in the U.S.…) To clarify, I’m a very happy person, healed from mourning the loss of both parents within months of each other, and living my best life; I’ve just been put off any desire to date again; trust level zero. After the hospital days we were about to live a 'normal' life again as much as possible. I became part of the living room #couchpotato all I needed and felt like is #sleeping for days... a lot 💤 Only thing I was responsible for is myself. Try to take care of me, myself and I. Eat, drink and sleep as much as needed. #takingcareofme❤️ On the days when I had some energy, I started up with easy hobbies, taking walks around the house🚶🏽♀️➡️getting ice cream🍦 having good friends around for lunch and after 4 weeks of the operation we went out for a coffee ☕️ first time 🤩 #thenewnormal The daily routine was: wake up - have breakfast - shower 🚿 dress up for the day - have a walk if the lovely Dutch weather allowed it 🌦️ with a snack, otherwise puzzle 🧩 or sudoku - have lunch 🥪 then sleep 😴 have a snack again - and walk or watch 📺 - make/have dinner 🍽️ quality time with my hubby with some fruits 🍎🍇🍓 and then bedtime 🛏️ In between I had couple of hospital checkups, visitors from work and friends stopping by. My recovery went well, slow but good. In the end I gained more energy back week after week. #igotthis💪

Grief is one of the most human and universal experiences. Despite this, gatekeeping who is considered 'widowed' continues even now, and makes the grief community all the poorer for it. Barriers can be based on legal definitions of widowhood, discrimination based on 'traditional' notions from within the community, as well as the griever's own feelings of disenfranchisement and estrangement from their own grief. 'Am I still widowed if...' is a phrase we hear quite often.
