My newest marking from my wonderful soul sister and artist extraordinaire @thescribeweaver 🤍 A beautiful blooming Rosebay Willowherb, my favourite wildflower! I first fell in love with these gorgeous plants living in Copenhagen, where I had my little craft studio out in an old shipyard. Next to my door these gorgeous green plants would shoot high from the tiniest cracks in the asphalt. Later in the summer they erupted out in bright pink flowers and the honeybees came buzzing. Before the bees the plants had been home to hundreds of ladybirds and the neighboring persistent willow bushes had housed their many alien like babies 🐞 I have such deep respect for anything in nature that shows persistence and grow in even the smallest places defying humans trying to squeeze them out. And Rosebay for me is a sign that nature will always find her way and show us beauty and life. Since then I’ve learned that the roots taste like asparagus, the leaves make a beautiful tea and in America the plant is known as fireweed because it’s one of the pioneer plants to bloom after a wildfire. I love her and I now carry her on my dominant arm, as a teacher and a guide to follow my passions and spread beauty in a world that sometimes feels a bit grey and full of asphalt. I am fussing in a big way, moving things large and small. Yesterday was devoted to hanging artwork, not an easy task on your own but brilliant when someone comes along with a telescoping multi-positional ladder to make all your hanging dreams come true. I held onto the ladder while the my pal, Warren, stood several feet above my head as I said “do you think you can go a little bit more to the right?” I wondered what my life expectancy would have been if the ladder collapsed on top of me. I was relieved when we hung the last piece. .🤓 Today was clean out day, pulling out birdhouses and pots for a clean up. We have been so productive lately, I wonder if we should have a few weddings every year! 🤪 On a side note: for LOCAL followers… we have a wonderful couch that needs a new home. It is a Charles Stewart Company couch that we had made for Tahilla Farm a few years ago. It’s a big one, perfect for napping and family style TV viewing. We've spent the last three weeks in the place we called "home" for almost a year in 2020. This park gave us shelter during the pandemic, it gave us a community and a family when our lives felt completely upended. Caleb workamped for the family that owns the park for almost a year and we feel like family. We stop here anytime we're in the area and are welcomed back with open arms. Well, the universe knew we needed to be here to get through this rough patch with our van. On our 700 mile drive up to Pensacola, the van developed a wobble. We figured it was affiliated with the repair that had just been completed, since it seemed like it was coming from the same area. On top of that, we found out that the previous repair had only been HALF finished. We only found out after requesting numerous times the paperwork for our records of what was done. When it finally arrived, it said "driver side exhaust manifold completed, customer will return for other side". They allowed us to leave, knowing we were hitting the road again, without telling us this! 😡 We thankfully made it up to Pensacola and promptly made an appointment at the local Ford service center. When we dropped it off, we were told that they don't offer loaner vehicles and it may be a week before it gets diagnosed. We would have been completely stranded if it had not been for the owner of the RV park offering to let us use her vehicle. I don't know what we would have done without her generosity. After almost a week in the shop, the passenger side exhaust manifold work done, 4 new tires (the wobble was caused by tread separation in one of our rear tires - we're so lucky we didn't have a blowout on our way here!) and replacing all the MISSING PARTS on the other side of the exhaust manifold that the last service center didn't put back in, WE HAVE OUR VAN BACK!! 🎉 These past few weeks have been a reminder of the kindness left in the world. We're overwhelmed with gratitude for being here, for these amazing humans that have helped us through these tough times. Oh, and if that wasn't enough, our freezer is stocked with gifted venison and tuna. I don't know how we got so lucky. 🙏❤️
