Sometimes you need to take a step back in astrophotography and enjoy the barebones of what got you into the hobby in the first place. For me, the last 4 months have been filled with cloudy nights, equipment headaches, and software issues. It’s definitely taken my toll and I felt real burnt out at some points. But tonight, with the eagle out back to cali for an upgrade, and my QHY CFW replacement on its way, I figured I’d just enjoy a night, free from tech, and just look at up our place in universe. Damn that sounded kinda quirky but you know what I mean. I also feel like time has flown by, hence the song. But like they always say, you always have next year, and the year after, and the year after. I feel like I missed so many good targets this spring, but hopefully next year I can image more of them! For me, the simple act of stargazing reminds us of why we fell in love with this crazy pursuit in the first place. Sometimes taking a step back and disconnecting from the gear below lets us reconnect with the magic above. (see what I did there… 🥶)At the end of the day, it’s all just about appreciating the universe’s grandeur! Not your everyday boring aurora pictures 😜—I'm so happy that many of you got to experience the Northern Lights, especially in places where it's a rarity. Some of your photos are absolutely gorgeous! I wanted to share these photos from my series, Mystic Norway, taken last October and November. They're all straight from the camera—no Photoshop, no digital enhancements, and definitely no AI. Which one is your favorite? What do you think about these captures? I'd love to hear your thoughts! If you want to keep a piece of this magic, some of them are still available on my website in three sizes. Adding some labels to my previous post. I really should have used my phone adapter instead of taking a hand held shot. Nonetheless, it's profound to see something 49 million light years away, that is 288,000,000 trillion miles away. #astronomy #astrophotography #comet12pponsbrooks #comet120 #12pPonsBrooks #youresa #natgeoyourshot #dobson #visualastronomy @sky_watcher_official

SPOTS ON AN ACTIVE SUN The Sun is in a very active phase in its cycle. Shot this yesterday morning, through a solar filter on a small refractor telescope holding my phone over its eyepiece. 🙂 The various current Active Regions show up lots of sunspots. Please view the second image for reference. The Active Regions (ARs) are numbered, with AR 3615 being the show stopper the last few days! The solar cycle, also known as the solar magnetic activity cycle, sunspot cycle, or Schwabe cycle, is a nearly periodic 11-year change in the Sun’s activity measured in terms of variations in the number of observed sunspots on the Sun’s surface. Over the period of a solar cycle, levels of solar radiation and ejection of solar material, the number and size of sunspots, solar flares, and coronal loops all exhibit a synchronized fluctuation from a period of minimum activity to a period of a maximum activity back to a period of minimum activity. . . . #Sunspots #Sun #Sol #Sunspot #SolarCycle #Astronomy #Astrophotography #SciComm #ScienceComminication #ScienceCommunicator #Science #Physics #Astrophysics #Cosmology #Cosmos #Universe #Stargazing #SolarAstronomy #VisualAstronomy #India #Singapore #Spacewards #WandererViews #BeyondTheLightPollution .

How big is Jupiter's Great Red Spot? Well it could have Earth for breakfast and still have room for the rest of the terrestrial planets 😂 If that's how big this 300-350 year old anticyclonic is then you can start to comprehend how BIG that Jupiter really is! We lose sight of Jupiter from the night sky in next couple of months as it goes on tour in the southern hemisphere so look up and look out for Jupiter in the night sky. #novastargazing #nightofvisualastronomy #stargazinguk #novastargazingexperiences #visualastronomy #ukstargazing #astronomy #astronomer

Patterns in the sky sometimes only become clear after you see the lines joined together. Next time you step outside at night see it you can find the 'W' or sometimes it can look like an 'M' depending on the time of year. It's been a long time since I posted an astro sketch*, and even longer since I made one. But finally, here it is. Last Friday the Moon met the Pleiades - a beautiful open star cluster - in the sky. Our natural satellite a few hours after its first quarter dimmed the Seven Sisters's shine significantly, but the whole view was still a gorgeous spectacle to observe. I drew it with pencils on white paper in negative (including the Moon) - you can see its raw version in the 2nd photo. Then I inverted it and processed a bit to get the right contrast using Krita - the result is shown first. The last two images are quick photos taken with my phone. ____________________________ *Astronomical sketches depict astronomical objects the way they're seen by human eyes in a given optical instrument and in given conditions. We can't expose our eyes for hours like cameras do, so most deep sky objects look completely different as seen by our own eyes than in astrophotos. We don't see colours and complicated structures, but it still can be an amazing experience. Astronomical sketches are made during observing sessions at a telescope or a binoculars, in the light of a flashlight (red in case of deep sky objects - they requires the dark adaptation of your eyes).⁣ ____________________________ #plejady #księżyc #astronomicalsketching #astrosketch #astrosketching #drawing #moonsketch #themoon #pleiades #messier45 #astro #sketch #moon #sketch #astronomy #visualastronomy #obserwacjenieba #skyobserver #amateurastronomy #binoculars #telescope #astrogwiazdy #yourESA #galileo #3sistersastro #scienceart #scientificart

I wanted to take a better picture of M35. Just look at the sheer number of stars you can see in the cluster! Celestial beauty personified. It is 110 millions years old. Continuing my Messier journey. This is M3, a globular star cluster. Exactly how it appears in the eyepiece. Orion and Running Man Two of the easiest to locate and most photographed Nebulae are the great Orion (M42) and Running Man (NGC 1977) located in the Orion constellation, a dominant feature of the winter sky. Here are both a stack and what you could expect to see visually through binoculars or a telescope. Did you know, that despite sci-fi movies and TV shows showing distant Nebulae up close as bright, colorful clouds of gas, that even if you traveled the 1,500 light years it would take to reach these that they would still just be gray, cloudy stars? That's because closer doesn't mean that more color would reach out eyes. Want proof? Test the theory. When you walk towards a wall does it get brighter or just closer? Some day, if we can travel to these Nebulae located in our Milky Way galaxy, hopefully we'll have displays that can replicate the captured color of long exposures so we can truly enjoy the great Orion the Hunter up close! Photos: stack of 30 x 4 min. exposures combined with 10 x 1 minute exposures to darken the bright core. Then a very short 8 second exposure with any color removed. Finally, a shot along the dark Lake Mary Road, south of Flagstaff, Arizona where even a 30 second exposure reveals all of the majesty of Orion in the night sky. Canon Ra, Sigma 150-600, Samyang XP 14mm, iOptron SkyGuider Pro star tracker, and ASIAir (guiding only). #astrophotography #orion #lowellobservatory #welcometoarizona #discoverflagstaff #flagstaff #arizona #visitarizona #onlyinarizona #orionthehunter #wintersky #astrofotografia #astronomyfacts #nightsky #visualastronomy #mynauview #naualumni

New year, new equipment. As I’ve primarily focused on imaging in 2023 I figured it would be nice to also enjoy visual observation with the ol’ Dob again. My eyepiece range isn’t too impressive and I’ve been thinking about getting this Baader Hyperion Zoom eyepiece for a while already, can’t wait to take it to action…of course, as is custom, we got heavy cloud coverage and endless rain on the day of its arrival (well, the 6 weeks prior to that, too). #backyardastronomy #visualastronomy #eyepiece #baaderplanetarium

It's been awhile! Going from getting married then into the holiday season I haven't had a ton of motivation yet to get back to my astrophotography, but I'll be back in 2024 as the PNW weather allows 😄 in the meantime, here's my first proper telescope which I passed onto my sister's family to use after I moved to Canada, along with their beautiful mountain view! Ohlédnutí za skončenou výstavou BRIGHT STELLAR CORE v Kvalitáři. Moc děkuji celému týmu galerie a hlavně kurátoru výstavy a kamarádovi Janu Dotřelovi! Jsem rád, že můžu spočinout v klidu podzimních mlh s pocitem dobře odvedené práce... #deepsky #geology #rock #artbooks #geology #visualastronomy #space #galaxy #deepskyobservation #nightsky #universe #nebulae #stars #art #contemporaryart #realism #realismart #realismpainting #oilpainting #oiloncanvas #exhibition #artwork #adamkaspar

✨Day 199 part 2 - September 29th, 2023 - As soon as I saw Orion about to poke over the trees, I moved right over to try to see the Orion Nebula through the scope. I got some quick shots before it was too late! Images: -The first slide is of the constellation Orion just coming through the trees, you can also see Taurus and Pleiades ✨ -The second to fourth slides are my struggle images of the Orion Nebula passing through the trees -The fifth slide is the original, 1min exposure of the flaming star nebula that was imaging on the sharpstar while we were exploring the skies with the megrez 🔭🔭 . . . . . . . . #orionconstellation #orionnebula #astrophotography #visualastronomy #iphone12 #sharpstar61edph #canon #canonrebel #williamoptics #megrez #telescopephotography #darksky #moonglow #flamingstar #nebula #taurus #taurusconstellation #pleiades #practiceisprogress #deepsky #ontariocanada

Večer proběhne za účasti šéfredaktora Galerie a nakladatelství Stará pošta Františka Mikše, editorky Barbory Kundračíkové, autorů textů v knize Jana Dotřela, Pavla Dvořáka a Matthewa Rampleyho a grafika Patrika Svobody. Za galerii @kodlcontemporary, jež finančně podpořila vznik knihy, bude přítomna Dana Šebestová. Těším se na viděnou! #deepsky #geology #rock #artbooks #geology #visualastronomy #space #galaxy #deepskyobservation #nightsky #universe #nebulae #stars #art #contemporaryart #realism #realismart #realismpainting #oilpainting #oiloncanvas #exhibition #artwork #adamkaspar
