Fierce Focus is complete!🐅 When I began this graphite drawing, I viewed the Sumatran tiger as a wild and powerful predator with fierce focus, hence the name. Then I learned that its species is critically endangered due to poaching and deforestation, and less than 400 remain in the wild. My heart grew heavy for this magnificent animal, and the drawing took on a new level of purpose as I began seeing the tiger’s intense expression as a plea for help. Swifts! ❤️ Age 9 🪶 ‘Every year it’s one of the most incredible things to see your first swift of the year! It makes me feel so happy to see them. Swifts return to the same nesting site every year, and it’s so important that our buildings have space for them to live!’ ❤️ . ‘They’re incredible flyers, it’s hard to belive that they only land to nest and raise their young - the whole rest of the time they fly, they sleep, eat, and even mate on the wing! When they arrive here they’ve just flown 3,400 miles from Africa to nest!’ . ‘Swifts are on the red list, which means they’re highly endangered. We have to protect them. These swift bricks would also protect swallows, house martins, starlings and sparrows, which all need our help!’ 🪶 . I drew this especially for the swifts, to help The Feather Speech campaign with @writerhannahbt make sure there are enough homes for these incredible birds! ❤️ . Swifts nest in the walls and roofs of buildings, but as their homes in our houses have closed up, numbers have declined by 50% in the last 25 years. Hannah is campaigning to make swift bricks compulsory in new builds.🪶 . A year ago today, Hannah’s petition closed with 110,000 signatures! Many believe the eyes are with window to the soul and no matter if it’s an animal or a person, when drawing it is so important to capture that. I think that’s why I find creating them so exhilarating and nerve wracking all at the same time! SO WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP YOURSELF? ⭐️Well for me, it’s about taking my time and not rushing them. Spend lots of time studying your reference photo before even applying pencil to paper and really look at the shaping, tonal values and colours. ⭐️I also find using sharp pencils gives more control to get in those small details and more control over where you are applying the pencil. For the eyes on this one, I used Polychromos and Pablos which are harder pencils, which makes it easier to apply them carefully in such small areas. Some politicians have even suggested removing bears from the list of protected species in order to allow for larger-scale hunting. The truth, however, is that bears tend to avoid people, not attack them. Bears can sometimes attack people if they are protecting their cubs, if they feel threatened or if they are around their prey. Also when bears are attracted to approach human settlements by easily disponible food (e.g. from trashbins or even feeding grounds) it is much more likely that they will come into a conflict with people. It is therefore essential to stop feeding bears near towns, cities or tourist routes. Here's my most detailed drawing, of a Rhinoceros ! Funfacts 💥 🧠 Relative to their large body size, rhinos have smaller brains. Their horns aren't made of bone, but rather keratin, just like their skin that can be 1.5cm thick. Their horns can grow throughout their life. They maintain symbiosis with Oxpeckers, that feed on ticks on their skin. Despite their names, white rhinos and black rhinos are grey in color. 👁️ They have a terrible eyesight. Hello les Insta Friends ! Après une période un peu compliquée, entre fatigue, perte de confiance en soi, remise en question, blocage, me revoici avec ce nouveau pastel réalisé au rythme d'une tortue 🤣🐢, intitulé "OXYGÈNE 2". Il s'agit de mon deuxième dessin de la série "OXYGÈNE" . Rappelez vous, j'avais réalisé en début d'année un dessin représentant un poisson Combattant (Betta Halfmoon), au même format 50x70, avec de grosses bulles aussi. Ce dessin est dédié à ma fille cadette.💓 Il a été spécialement réalisé pour ses 10 ans. Une fois encadré, le tableau aura un format 60x80. La Miss m'avait demandé une tortue de mer. Je n'ai pas l'habitude du portrait animalier mais j'ai essayé de relever le défi pour elle. Je suis soulagée d'avoir réussi à surmonter les difficultés de ce dessin, mes inquiétudes, mon blocage artistique. Et le plus important : ma fille est absolument ravie.
