Some politicians have even suggested removing bears from the list of protected species in order to allow for larger-scale hunting. The truth, however, is that bears tend to avoid people, not attack them. Bears can sometimes attack people if they are protecting their cubs, if they feel threatened or if they are around their prey. Also when bears are attracted to approach human settlements by easily disponible food (e.g. from trashbins or even feeding grounds) it is much more likely that they will come into a conflict with people. It is therefore essential to stop feeding bears near towns, cities or tourist routes. Commission example (and stickers?) 🐠⬇️ My lovely friend @yaeko.35mm wanted an education diagram of a Giant Trevally aka an Ulua. Educational diagrams can range from anatomy charts like this one, to more complex concept explanations/lessons like my Grey whale feeding behavior drawing. 🐋✨ She also wanted it to be in a realistic style, but cartoon is also an option! The colors, background, orientation, species, etc. are all choices you can make to get exactly what you want out of your commission! 💙🩵🤍 This piece was priced at $45 and took me about 3 hours to draw. I’m still trying to finalize how pricing will be done, but at the moment, it’s mostly based on time spent on the project. The majestic creature, with its impressive tusks and powerful presence, captivates the viewer's attention, symbolizing the beauty and magnificence of Africa's wildlife. As the young tusker roams the land, he serves as a stark reminder of the threats posed by trophy hunting and poaching, particularly along the Kenya-Tanzania border. Trophy hunting, driven by the demand for ivory and the desire for exotic trophies, poses a grave threat to the survival of elephants in this region. The loss of these iconic creatures not only diminishes the biodiversity of Amboseli National Park but also disrupts the delicate balance of the ecosystem. Likewise, poaching continues to decimate elephant populations, pushing these majestic animals to the brink of extinction. The illegal trade in ivory fuels organized crime syndicates and threatens the livelihoods of local communities dependent on wildlife tourism. Through his painting, my dad shines a spotlight on these pressing conservation issues, urging viewers to take action to protect Africa's elephants and preserve their natural habitats. First set of seabirds! ⬇️ (But definitely not the last) The Alcidae family includes the auks, puffins, and murres. Many of the birds in this family are black and white and stand upright, making them look kind of like penguins. Like penguins, they are very good divers and swimmers, but unlike penguins, they can fly. Only one species of auk, the Great Auk, was flightless and it sadly went extinct in 1944 after being hunted to extinction by humans; who hunted them for feathers, meat, fat and oil. With only 23 species, this small family of sea birds can be found throughout the seas of the Northern Hemisphere. Most species, like the Guillemot (bottom left) and Razor-bill (top middle), are dark on top and commonly white below, which acts as a kind of camouflage called counter shading. However, some auks, such as the Puffin (bottom right) have colourful beaks, tufts, or crests. Auks are also pelagic birds, spending the majority of their adult life on the open sea looking for fish, coming ashore only for breeding. And when they do return to land, they do so in extraordinary numbers, forming colonies of thousands to millions of individuals!! And they are monogamous which means they breed for life. Imagine being at sea all year and coming back to a place packed with 1,000,000 other bird and still be able to find your partner! Remarkable! We must do what we can to protect our home and its vitally important forests and oceans, through the conservation of both critical landscapes and species around the globe, in order for us all to survive. Here at PARDICOLOR we're once again making our pledge to continue to work to save Earth's precious wild species through art for the coming year. We call it Creativity for Planet Earth. It's our four year anniversary today; you may have initially found us as the @pardicolorcreativeartsfund , where we began this journey into the wilds of art and conservation, beginning as a creative arts fund giving small grants to artists making work on wildlife and environmental issues in their home regions (having started in Southeast Asia, we now support artists around the world).
