Day 2 of this 4 cycle! Our appointment was moved up this morning because they thought she would need blood today. Her hemoglobin was at 7.2 yesterday and 7 means time to get some blood. Labs were done this morning and she went up to 7.4! God is good 🧡 He is with her and is always protecting her. So she just got her quick chemo and out the door we went. This girl of ours shows so much strength in all that she does. She knows where her healing comes from and honestly most days she has to remind me it’s all going to be okay. On our last clinic day when we received not bad news but not the news i wanted. I had tears in my eyes when i put her in the truck. This little girl of ours looks at me and says momma, i know you are worried and sad but I got this. Fast forward a few days and again i get said and broken because I hate this and i hate that she has to go through this. I prayed that morning for a sign that she will be okay. We were sitting on the porch and she sees my pink bracelet that says but God that I wear with my Ada strong one. She says mom I want one like that but I want it to say Ada is healed. Anytime i get worried she says momma look at your arm and my Ada Strong shirts. She knows both mean to put you faith where it belongs. Give it to God. Lumbar puncture and bone marrow aspiration done! Her ANC number is up to 391 (it was 10 last Thursday) we are making progress!! I can’t even begin to explain how good God is! We won’t know the results for a few days but we know God has her back and she will have remission!! I was reading my devotional,my sweet friend Kaylee Weaver Burns gave me when this all started, on our way to the clinic this morning. The devotional was describing when you have a fear that is really pretty irrational. In this case it was a big box that was delivered and the author feared it had a person hiding in it waiting to attack. Even though we know this is irrational the fear still creeps in. The fear of the unknown. We know the answer but we do not go with the knowing. We over process the what ifs and the maybes until (in the author’s situation) we find ourselves standing around the corner waiting to see if the box might sneeze. This has been me. I constantly worry and over processes so this was really hitting home with me and then in the midst of my reading Raise a Hallelujah starts playing. A sign, my sign, that God is with her and with us. 6/15/23 15 days.… i really can’t comprehend how we have been on this journey for 15 days. It seems so long but it also seems like it has gone by so fast. Tomorrow morning is her last dose of steroids for this phase/cycle. The steroids basically act like another type of chemo for her. Her ANC count has gone up to .02 which is not enough for us to get out of the hospital but it is growth ❤️. Most families end up staying in the hospital for the entire first month and we were blessed enough to make it home for 2 days and a hotel for 2 but for now I guess the hospital is home until her numbers come up. God knows where the safest place for her is right now and we will follow Him. Being away from the boys is hard. We miss them more and more each day. Some days are good and some days the grief sets in. It’s a different kind of grief, it’s more of longing and missing the days of our old routine and being all together. We know these days won’t be forever and God will see us through. We are overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received from our community as well as our family and friends. We love you all! 6/14/23 GOD IS SO SO GOOD!!! Her lumbar from Monday was NEGATIVE!!!! We have our 3 in a row!!! She will continue to have lumbar punctures just not as often throughout the course of treatment. Her next one is at the end of the month. We are stuck at the hospital until her ANC number begins to come up. She has chemo tomorrow so we will for sure be here a few more days. The second blood culture came back negative after the first was contaminated. The on call oncologist basically said it didn’t matter if it was contaminated it was positive so we have to treat. She also said if she ever tests positive for this type of bacteria again her port will have to come out. I feel that the first was actually contaminated as we made it over 24 hours before anything grew. This oncologist again could not believe Ada wasn’t super sick when she was diagnosed. She also said she must have a high fever tolerance and that’s why she never appears sick.… you already know my answer to this… But God!!! God controls the results, God leads us in this treatment, everything is all thanks to God! “No weapon formed against you shall prosper” Isaiah 54:17 Thank you Eric Luevano and Melissa Arcidez Luevano for her princess coloring book! 6/11/23 The hospital admitted Ada last night. They ordered a viral panel, streo, cultures and and X-ray to check for pneumonia all are negative ❤️ God is good. We don’t have the results of the cultures 100 percent back yet becuase they let them grow for 24-48 hours (some up to 5 days) but the preliminary results are negative. We believe they will remain negative. Her platelets were low so she received those last night. Her lumbar puncture is still scheduled for tomorrow. We are praying that this one is our 3rd negative. Ada’s ”fighter” white blood cell count is really low (which is to be expected right now with all the chemo). She did have a fever once out of about 20 temperature checks of 100.4 so we have to stay for who knows how long in the hospital. They are giving her antibiotics to help boost her ANC count (fighters). Once they show progress we should get to go home. 6/9/23 This morning we received a call from Ada’s doctor and received our SECOND NEGATIVE! She even looked back to double check she was looking at the correct date. This was the one they were concerned about coming back positive since there was some blood mixed in but GOD! God has been with our girl every step of the way. He is alive and performing miracles every day and she is one! We know we still have a long road ahead of us but we are leaning on God to get us through all of it. 6/8/23 Day 7 Clinic appointment followed by lumbar puncture and 2 types of chemo. We received our first NEGATIVE from the lumbar puncture that was done on Monday! This lumbar puncture has some blood so we are praying it still shows negative. Her blood shows no blasts but the blood test is not a sensitive as the test they use for the spinal fluid so there is a possibility it could show positive BUT we know our God is mighty and it will be negative. The anesthesiologist that put her to sleep for her port to be installed (same one that sedated her today) said it’s unbelievable how fast her lungs cleared up from the fluid/leukemia they saw in the X-ray that day. 6/7/23 Last night was our first night home. We all loved being able to sleep in our beds. Ada woke up hungry and actually ate almost 2 bowls of cereal! She took her medicine without much of a fight. We are currently on our way back to Lubbock for the night. She has a lumbar puncture with chemo (7 am Tx time) followed by another 2 types of chemo that will be given through her port (“button”). We are also praying for a good report from the last lumbar. She needs to receive 3 negatives before the amount of these can decrease. We know we serve a mighty God and we know she will be a miracle. We may not know what the purpose of all of this is but we know it’s big. Maybe one day I’ll be able to make it without actually crying. Little things can make me break. Something as simple as brushing her hair or changing her clothes can make the tears flow. All i can say is this girl is OUR HERO. She takes everything thrown at her and keeps going. 6/6/23 Today we broke free! God is so so good. Her blood shows no leukemia!! According to the doctors she may still have some in her spinal fluid (waiting on those results) and in her bone marrow but we know we serve a mighty God!!! We still have a long road ahead of us and lots of meds at home and monitoring for fevers etc. She will be at risk for infections for a while but we are trusting in God that she is protected from all infections just as she was before this diagnosis. #AdaStrong #adasjourney #leukemiaawareness #leukemiawarrior #Godisgood
6/5/23 After the night we had last night today has been pretty good. MRI came back clear. She had her lumbar puncture with chemo followed by another session of chemo. This chemo is a type that has the risk of allergic reaction but God is so so good and our girl handled it well. After she woke up completely from the anesthesia she ate bananas, her favorite Doritos and some rice. God is so so good! 6/4/23 Today was a great day! Ada woke up with an appetite so she had some bacon, a little bit of eggs, almost 3 bananas, Doritos (only the Nacho ones the blue are too spicy 🤣), a little pizza, soup and rice plus a popsicle. She got a shower and decided we needed to go for a walk. She got to explore the pediatric floor and even the 1st floor. We made a pit stop at Lindsey’s Park. Once we got back to the room we had some visitors followed by another trip to Lindsey’s Park. No headaches today and blood pressure has been great. Her white blood cell count is almost non existent! Ada did get some platelets today (they were a little low) in preparation for her lumbar puncture with chemo tomorrow (this will be her second one).
