【KOA便産地訪問＆作付会議】 4月21日(日)、27日(土)にKOA便の産地訪問＆作付会議をしてきました。 元々はKOAの共同便が始まったころ、八百屋数軒で乗り合わせて産地を訪問し、そのエリアの農家さんたちと直接会って膝つき合わせていろいろ話し合う機会として始めた取り組み。 実際にその土地に行き、どんな人がどんな想いで農業と向き合っているのか。 単に流通の仕組みを作るだけではなく、地域の中でそうした血の通う関係性を育みながら、コミュニティとして農業や食について考えるための土壌を作ること。 この辺はKOAの活動の原点ではあるのですが、コロナの影響でなかなか実施できずにいたのを数年ぶりに再開しました。 今回の訪問先は ・兵庫県丹波市 ・京丹後市 ・南丹市 丹波市は6年前に市立の有機農業の学校ができており、その卒業生の方たちがたくさん定住・就農しており、近年すごい盛り上がりを感じていました。実際行ってみるとほんとに大勢の新規就農者がおられてすごかったです。 京丹後はまいどお馴染み梅本さん。圃場も広がり、従業員も増えて相変わらず安定的に超ポジティブに取り組んでおられます。今回京丹波からもわざわざ梅本さんとこを見たくて参加された農家さんもいました。 そして南丹市は亀岡、南丹、京丹波の農家さん達が集結。新規就農して新しくKOAに関わってくれる人が数名いました。 今回のテーマは、長期の作付け計画をいかにして共有するか？ 小売店さんは毎週野菜の発注はしますが、それと同時に先々の販売計画も立てています。スナップエンドウが出始めてから準備してたのでは遅く、出る前から宣伝したり、どう売るかを考えたり。 誰が何を、いつ頃どれぐらいの量で出荷してくるのか？もうちょっと分かりやすくしたいよね、というのが今回のテーマで、共通の作付け出荷計画書をみんなで共有する方法、その内容、取り扱いなど、生産者と小売店の立場からの意見交換。 その他にも生産者同士の交流やお互いの近況報告などもできて、ギュッと詰まった良い時間でした。 5月はいよいよエンドウ類や葉物、レタス類、新タマネギなどがスタートします！ 雨続きで夏作の準備がなかなか進まない～と困ってる農家さんの声をよく聞きますが、夏作の準備と春野菜の収穫出荷と田植えが重なる超絶農繁期突入ですね。 今年はどんな一年になるのか、地場の野菜を買って食べて、2024年のエネルギーを感じましょう。 #kyotoorganicaction #localorganic #communitysupportedagriculture #agroecology #sustainableagriculture #farmtotable #slowfood#身土不二#有機野菜#地産地消#持続可能な農業#産消提携

Spring Grass 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 We are all eagerly awaiting the growth of the “green stuff. Hay has become expensive and sometimes even scarce. As I travel around the province, I am noticing lots of livestock already at pasture. Did you know that if you waited until the grass got to the 2-3 leaf stage of growth (known as the elongation phase), it is not only lower in sugar, but higher in fiber? In Alberta he grass is currently in the vegetative stage of growth and is pumping its winter sugar root reserves up to the above ground leaves in an effort to desperately try and grow leaf matter. This leaf material is the plants solar panel. The bigger the solar panel, the quicker the growth, which results in a considerably increase in biomass of edible forage. We are thrilled to be welcoming a visiting scholar to our community this summer. Karine Nunes, a Brazilian with a double degree in Agronomy from France and Brazil, will join us next week and stay through the end of July! She is currently pursuing a PhD in sociology at the School of High Studies on Social Sciences in France. Her research focuses on mobilizing local actors for the transition of territorial agri-food systems and aims at bridging the gap between transitions and governance/mobilization of actors to develop just, ecological, and inclusive agri-food systems. Karine is visiting us as a member of the ATTER (Agroecological Transitions for Territorial Food Systems) project team. During her visit, she aims to contribute to integrating a new case study in Vermont within the scope of the project. She’ll also help organize a workshop on territorial food systems and agroecology. Her visit will facilitate exchange and co-learning opportunities with UVM students, faculty, and community partners, enriching her research and fostering international collaboration in agroecology. More than 900 children in primary schools in Ambohimahamasina and Vohitsaoka, Ambalavao district are members of the "Kids For Nature" club. Kids for Nature's mission is to promote the adoption of environmentally friendly behaviors and to raise awareness that protecting nature is not just about planting trees, but also about correcting everyday behaviors or bad habits that harm the environment. Teachers support children in their mission by sharing the knowledge and importance of the natural resources that surround them. 2024.4.29 畑プロジェクト 今年度はじめの畑プロジェクトは、初めましての方含めて7名での作業でした。 まずは春の畑を散策。 野菜はほぼなくとも、 春の草花や、昨夏野菜の名残り、 ぷっくり膨らんできた白菜の鞘に、 自然生えのアスパラガス、 畑に蒔いて育ったクヌギの実生など、 観察できるものはたくさんありました。 ひととおり見て歩いたら、まずは蒟蒻芋の植えつけ。 昨年育てて掘り上げた2年子と、種苗交換会でいただいた生子の両方を植えつけます。 ピンク色のおヘソがなんとも愛らしい蒟蒻芋たちでした。 お昼休憩（我々のお昼は筍ごはんと赤芽芋のドゥルワカシー）をはさみ、午後は赤芽芋（里芋）の植えつけです。 数日前に掘り上げた株を、親芋と子芋によりわけて、種芋にする親芋と子芋を選びます。 毎年掘り起こしたときには芽が出ているので芽出しナシでなんとも楽ちん。 きびしい種芋トーナメントの末、勝ち残った芋たちが植えつけられました。 最後は隣の竹林で筍掘り。 地下に走る根をイメージしながら、 たけのこ鍬を振りおろす方向を探ります。 初めてながら株つきのきれいな筍を掘りあげた彼。そばで見ていたこちらまで達成感があります💪🏻 久しぶりの4月らしい過ごしやすい天気のなか、 身体をのびのびと動かせた1日でした。 （Earthmanship 畑部 部長） ・・・・・ 次回は5月19日(日) 春野菜をすっとばして夏野菜の準備が始まります。 https://x.gd/mL2oD #蒟蒻芋 #赤芽芋 #筍 #アグロエコロジー #agroecology #agroecologia #自然農 #不耕起草生 #アースマンシップ #earthmanship #北杜市 武川町

ForestAction Nepal organized a half-day interactive workshop at the Ichhakamana Rural Municipality office in Kurintar, Chitwan, on April 29, 2024. The workshop was attended by key stakeholders, including the Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Chitwan, lead organic farmers from the Organic Farmers Federation Chitwan, Chair, Vice Chair, and Ward Chairpersons, agricultural technicians, and local farmers of Ichhakamana RM. The main objective of this workshop was to discuss the need for and importance of agroecological farming and to emphasize the role and responsibilities of the rural municipality in supporting farmers in transitioning towards sustainable and resilient agriculture. Participants engaged in fruitful discussions, sharing their experiences and insights on current farming practices and the potentials and challenges of agroecological farming. The key stakeholders expressed their strong support for promoting agroecological farming. The Chairperson of the Ichhakamana RM committed to allocating resources and budget for promoting and implementing agroecological farming practices within the community in the upcoming fiscal year. Furthermore, collaborative efforts were also discussed, including training programs, demonstration plots, and capacity-building activities to empower farmers with the knowledge and skills to adopt sustainable agricultural practices. This workshop marked a significant step towards fostering sustainable and resilient agriculture through agroecology initiatives at the local level, laying the foundation for a more sustainable and resilient farming future in Ichhakamana. #agroecology #resilientagriculture

Fighting plants with plants!! 🔥 We have a serious monoculture of spotted knapweed. I've tried multiple methods to stump this invasive. I hate spraying and cutting flowers/ selective constant mowing is too much work as they just flower and flower and flower etc.... So the next method is using similarly aggressive native plants to outcompete but not necessarily eliminate the knapweed. Ive already planted lots of native rhizome spreading bunch grasses which are strong plants that can hold their ground. Enter northern evening primrose 🌼 It has been growing there for two seasons and this will be the third but I've noticed lots of nice basal rosettes that all self seeded. The plant is edible with really nice flowers and acts quite weedy which i want in this situation. My quest for a more radical approach to Agroecology in Italy took me further and further south. Stopping first in Bologna were Campi Aperti runs farmers markets and the organisation Genuino Clandestine which is an incredible network of farmers who collective ignore the expensive bureaucratic restrictions put on farmers and peasants in transforming food products, and guarantee quality through their own certification system.
