Het EU Ecolabel staat voor duurzaamheid en een lage milieubelasting gedurende de gehele levenscyclus van een product. ♻️ Tijdens het aanvraagproces wordt er gekeken naar de grondstoffen, de energiezuinigheid, het verminderen van afval en vervuiling, het productieproces, de verpakking en de distributie. Flink wat criteria dus. En daar stopt het nog niet. Tijdens het proces wordt er namelijk ook een strenge kwaliteitscontrole uitgevoerd. Producten die het label dragen moeten namelijk minstens net zo goed werken als vergelijkbare producten, zonder milieukeurmerk. Het mag dan wel duurzaam zijn, maar het moet natuurlijk ook werken! Voici la Rainette à bandeaux qu’on a croisé de nuit tout comme la Phylloméduse tigrine. Elle arbore la nuit de beaux motifs jaunes rappelant des bandeaux tandis que de jour ses motifs deviennent blancs. Hypopachus variolosus Bien ganado tiene su nombre de Rana termitera, pues se alimenta en buena parte de hormigas y termitas. Esta pequeña y simpática rana de forma triangular puede ser encontrada en grandes cantidades despues de las lluvias, en el suelo de la selva o caminos con charcos, en la selva se pierde fácilmente por sus hábitos de ocultarse debajo de la hojarasca. En alguna ocasión me tocó ver un ejemplar de estos alimentandose de hormigas, simplemente permaneciendo inmóvil junto a estas, atrapando con su lengua cuantas podía. Tambien recuerdo en 2021 ver cientos de estos en los caminos de sascab encharcados o por la selvas en Calakmul, aunque acá era mas fácil de perderlos... como quiera me di vuelo tomandoles algunas fotitos c: ya llevo un rato sin verles en tal cantidad
Boana punctata (Hylidae) es una especie de ranitas asociadas a zonas abiertas, bosques primarios y secundarios y pastizales inundables. Se caracteriza por tener puntos dorsales (de ahí su nombre) además de presentar fluorescencia, algo bastante interesante para investigar. "To cherish what remains of the Earth and to foster its renewal is our only legitimate hope of survival." -Wendell Berry The last day of Earth Week is the perfect time to think about how we can foster renewal. As our ecosystems become increasingly developed, damaged, and fragmented, there’s a beacon of hope: habitat restoration. Restoration involves the manipulation of the characteristics of a degraded site, such as the plant community or the hydrology, to return the area to a previous state of natural functioning. In the Cochise PARCAs of Arizona's Sonoran Desert, we're working with federal partners to restore mountain wetlands for Threatened Chiracahua leopard frogs and northern Mexican garter snakes, along with hundreds of other species. As vital oases in these arid lands, wetlands were once much more commonly dotted across the landscape. Over the last century, a large number have been lost or degraded due to development, unsustainable livestock grazing, groundwater pumping, and water diversion. To return these critical refuges to the region's dry lands, our efforts range from restoring the topography with heavy machinery to removing invasive species. With a variety of actions, such as removing nonnative cattails that crowd out native plants and alter the site's hydrology, we can repair these wetlands to ensure that Chiricahua leopard frogs have ponds to breed; northern Mexican garter snakes have places to find food; populations of wildlife and plants are connected to allow for gene flow; and much more. 🆔 𝑹𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒂 - Sapo del Obispo, Sapo de hojarasca🍂🇨🇴/ Bishop’s Toad 🇬🇧 Este anfibio tan particular, pertenece a la familia Bufonidae que comúnmente se conocen como sapos 🐸 . Estos amigos robustos y verrugosos poseen una glándulas ubicadas en la parte trasera de su cabeza donde secretan una sustancia líquida llamada secreción parotoidea, que es cuando la gente se refiere que “el sapo botó leche 🥛”. Esta sustancia ayudan a proteger el animal de infecciones de microorganismos 🦠 y a defenderse de sus depredadores. en particular con esta especie, es de hábitos diurnos ☀️, comúnmente visto en la hojarasca 🍂, de ahí su nombre común. En las noches realiza cantos en pozas cerca a riachuelos o zonas inundadas y se alimenta especialmente de hormigas 🐜. Algumas espécies presentes na aula de campo no Parque Nacional de Boa Nova-BA. O Parque Nacional de Boa Nova fica localizado em uma região de encontro entre dois biomas brasileiros: caatinga e mata atlântica. Esta região de convergência de biomas é caracterizada como mata de cipós, sendo possível a observação de muitas espécies de ambos biomas neste local, um hotspot de biodiversidade. É bastante procurado por observadores de aves do mundo todo, devido à riqueza de espécies na região. This week is all about nurturing nature. It’s Earth Week, and some of our Southwestern Program Team recently celebrated at the Continental Divide Trail Days X Gila Earth Day festival in Silver City, New Mexico. While our work for nature spans the whole year, we were happy to join in community earlier in the week to help raise awareness of the need to protect our natural resources and native species. Several hundred folks stopped by our table to learn about the local ecosystem and conservation efforts underway in the region. Our team taught participants about American bullfrogs, which are invasive in the Western US, and how to differentiate them from Threatened Chiracahua leopard frogs. Bullfrogs are extremely good at outcompeting native frogs and other species. Many festivalgoers mentioned that they had seen them in the area but had no idea that they were invasive here. After visitors learned some of the traits to tell the two species apart, they used their new skills to help clear our “pond” of invasives! Bellissimo primo piano di Rana temporaria, chiamata comunemente rana montana. Appartiene al gruppo di specie chiamate comunemente "rane brune" o "rane rosse": anfibi anuri spiccatamente terricoli che presentano uno stile di vita perlopiù lontano da pozze e specchi d'acqua, ad eccezione del periodo riproduttivo. Queste rane - appartenenti al genere Rana, forse il più emblematico della famiglia Ranidae - si muovono sul terreno umido del sottobosco, al contrario delle "rane dei fossi", o rane verdi (genere Pelophylax), strettamente più legate all'acqua anche al di fuori della stagione riproduttiva. We’re grateful for the Appreciation Award we recently received from our partners at the Coronado National Forest in Arizona for our team’s work in the region, which includes monitoring Threatened Chiricahua leopard frog populations and removing invasive species. When asked about the award, Southwestern Program Coordinator Becca Cozad said, "This recognition for our team was an unexpected honor. It’s awesome to have our efforts noticed and appreciated!" Our targeted actions for species here are carried out in the Cochise PARCAs (Priority Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Areas), which are incredibly biodiverse. This area–encompassing the Chihuahuan Desert to the east and the Sonoran Desert to the west is truly unparalleled in terms of the number of species found here. Save the best for the last! In my last post I showed 3 species of Anurans in a breeding frenzy after some heavy rains in the Karoo at @khoisankarooconservancy . There was however a fourth species present and maybe the highlight of the evening: the Giant Bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus). This individual was not (yet) thinking about mating, but was making use of all the activity to have an easy meal. Qui sono riportati i rappresentanti più significativi che si possono incontrare nel nostro paese, passeggiando per i boschi o stando sulle rive di un lago. Ma fate attenzione ⚠️ alla rana verde, ci sono altre due specie molto simili a quella trattata nel post (P. lessonae e P. esculentus). La esculentus (rana verde dei fossi) è un ibrido fertile (che può accoppiarsi solo con le specie parentali) delle altre due specie creando quindi molte popolazioni miste. Sylvia’s Tree Frog (Cruziohyla sylviae) is an uncommon frog species known only from Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. These large tree frogs usually lay their eggs on leaves overhanging water filled tree cavities. The tadpoles hatch into the water where they complete their metamorphosis. In Costa Rica, this species is only known from the Caribbean Slope. C’est après une journée de pluie amazonienne qui est venu rompre la saison sèche que nous avons décidé de faire une sortie nocturne riche en grenouilles notamment. Lors de ces phénomènes pluvieux, les grenouilles arboricoles viennent s’accoupler en grand nombre dans les mares qui réapparaissent suite aux précipitations.
