My entry for #ourplanetweek2024 🥰🐢 I was thinking about those whales and turtles carrying Earth, and look how it turned out! ☺️ Unfortunately, living “at the edge” of this Earth I don’t think we can help anything to keep our planet alive. It’s good to aim for zero waste, but try to raise a kid without diapers and plastic toys, and eat only the food you can produce (no coffee with ice cream!). I didn’t mean to be so pessimistic, but now we have several weeks of 40+ Celsius heat, we have power breakups and poor water supply, and I can’t even think how killing it is for the nearest coral reef. But before everything is gone - we still have the time to praise it! Every day is of course Earth Day 🌏🌍🌎 This year the focus is on plastics - "planet vs plastics" calling for a 60% reduction in plastic by 2040 #60x40 including a halt on single use plastics by 2030. The petrochemical/plastics industry has been consistently increasing plastic production for decades. For a material that never goes away this has been a real run away train and we now know that plastic in nano/micro/macro form is found everywhere from the deepest ocean trenches, to the highest clouds, in the soil, the air, in our blood, placentas, breast-milk and of course in the tissues much of life earth 😖 It's well overdue time for a comprehensive overhaul of this madness. All eyes on the "Plastic Treaty" whereby nations have agreed to develop a legally binding, holistic treaty to address this plastic crisis by the end of this year. This is another one where we need the people, the scientists, the activists shouting louder than the petrochemical lobby. Yes, we must remember our reusables, refuse single use, be conscious of our choices, but policy is the fastest & most powerful way to shut off the plastic tap. Когда придумывала тему в первую очередь ориентировалась на деревья, которые искривились под сильным ветром. Эта деформация скорее естественная, но можно попробовать и искажение форм в архитектуре или, к примеру, обратную перспективу в натюрморте. И ещё один рисунок по первому заданию #творческий_апрель И раз уж первая работа с рекой пошла в сравнение со старой, я решила сравнить и эту. Это довольно старые мои груши нарисованные на такой же бумаге. Задача была такой же, сохранить максимальную лёгкость работы. Но когда я начала работать поняла, что не могу просто совладать с этим жутким жёлтым, который светился насквозь и был грязным... поэтому в ход пошло всё максимально жирное и плотное, а точнее сеннелье. ✨️ Вот и первая картинка по первому заданию. Была у меня маленькая традиция рисовать речку на даче каждый год, а то и по несколько раз. Но 2022 и 2023 выпали из ряда, как и я сама выпала из всего. (Интересно, что река у меня всегда разная, даже если время года одно.) Мне нравилась лёгкость моих старых работ масляной пастелью. Много воздуха, чистой бумаги и мало оттенков. Я работала максимально быстро, легко и живо. И стало казаться, что я это теряю в своих новых работах, хотелось вернуться к старому. В процессе я даже подумала что получилось как раньше, а потом нашла первую свою работу, одну из первых в принципе масляной пастелью, и поняла, что "как раньше" уже никогда не будет. И это хорошо! И темы мне хорошо знакомы и понятны( пока без экспертментов, они тоже будут!): ✨️️Весенняя река или поле ✨️Натюрморт Темы очень условные, им можно не следовать. Да и вообще можно рисовать чем угодно! Свобода во всем! Работу с рефлексией на тему задания и своего прогресса буду выкладывать по мере готовности или в конце недели. ✨️Мини дополнение к первому заданию с масляной пастелью, нарисовать работу в ограниченной палитре. Это или 6 (можно даже меньше) цветов или цвета в одной гамме. We made a new wall painting! This artwork took us seven days to make! Thrilled to unveil our latest wall masterpiece for Morssinkhof Plastics Heerenveen- a tribute to their commitment to recycling plastic! It’s been an honor bringing their vision to life through art. First illustration of my new series ‘Animals from the Americas’. Today, the incredible and colorful Toucan. These intelligent birds with oversize, colorful bills are found in the rainforests of Central and South America. Toucans are vital to keeping rainforests alive. They eat an array of native fruits, passing the seeds through their droppings, which helps keep the plants growing and maintaining the forest’s diversity. The survival of the Toucan is increasingly threatened due to several factors. The primary threat is habitat loss induced by deforestation for agriculture, logging, and urban development. The reduction of mature trees leads to a direct loss of their nesting and feeding grounds. Another significant threat is the illegal pet trade. Le projet exprimé par les organisateurs : « Nous sommes très heureux de vous annoncer que le Festival Gravity lance un superbe projet parallèle qui donnera lieu à une exposition à Paris en ce début 2024! Le projet nait lorsque nous récupérons auprès d’une institution culturelle parisienne une grande quantité de casques audio destinés à la déchetterie. Non fonctionnels et pour la plupart cassés, ancrés dans la culture Hip-Hop, nous connaissons l’importance qu’à cet objet pour les Artistes et décidons de les recycler en oeuvres d’art. Add discarded fishing gear to the mix, designed to endure and designed to entangle it can go on wreaking havoc, over & over… There is much to be redesigned in terms of policy, technology & industry practices but that doesn't stop us from taking individual action too! El 34% son humanos y la mayor parte, el 62%, son animales explotados para consumo humano 😳 La ganadería ocupa mucha más tierra de la que sería necesaria para alimentar a la humanidad en base a plantas, siendo causante de un alto porcentaje de la deforestación. También usa más agua y contamina más los suelos, y es uno de los principales emisores de gases de efecto invernadero. Today is World Wildlife Day. Unfortunately, it is not an occasion to celebrate, but an opportunity to reflect on the damage we are doing to the planet and its inhabitants. According to Our World in Data, wild animals represent only 4% of terrestrial animals. Thirty-six percent are humans and most of them, 60%, are animals exploited for human consumption 😳. Livestock farming occupies much more land than would be necessary to feed humanity based on plants, causing a high percentage of deforestation. It also uses more water and pollutes more soil, and is one of the main emitters of greenhouse gases. You can see how it changed! I'll be sharing the pictures of the neck gaiters in use soon! Exploration & research in our planet's most extreme environments is essential in understanding the balance of life on this planet. There is sadly no longer any untouched wilderness on this planet, evidence of anthropogenic change is everywhere: from plastic pollution, to warming & acidifying oceans. Our planet is heating at the poles faster than anywhere else on earth and polar bears are a flagship species in reminding us of the catastrophic effects of climate change 😞 Wow, sorry this wasn't a cheerier post! I'm perhaps a little in shock that the news of early warning signs of AMOC collapse has not been on the front page of every newspaper everywhere… AMOC is Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, the flow of warm & cold water currents that affects the climate of the entire planet.
