Six new works in my "Rural" series. This time I did the works in two sizes... The original small ones (approximately 4.5" x 6.5"), and a slightly larger size (basically doubling the original ones ) and measuring appropriately 8.75" x 6.5"). Made from locally found vintage fabrics, most of which I eco-dyed using tannins from local plant matter and homemade iron water. Works can be framed, but I made them with the intent to hang as is. Swipe to the 2nd to last photo to see my super easy method using removable 3M Velcro strips. Last pic shows my maker hands... How thankful I am for them. I've got some serious basal thumb arthritis in both hands, (my bottom thumb joints actually curve inward instead of outward, and I have to make a conscious effort to try and straighten them in photographs, as I am a bit self-conscious, which I know I shouldn't be, yet I am) and the time it takes me to hand sew is getting slower and slower. I don't take it for granted and count each hand stitch made as a blessing... As long as I can, I will. All six new works are now available for sale in my Etsy shop... Follow link in profile. /Weekly recap/ I spoke a little bit on my stories today about what I worked on for my Monthly Muse series last week. If you've been following along, the theme for April is found objects - I have already painted on an old school desk top (amongst other interesting things). This week I enjoyed working in oils rather than acrylics. I'm not sure if it's the surface of these materials or the looser style landscapes that oils work better for, but I really enjoyed changing things up this week. In this image are landscapes painted on laminate/ veneer samples, hardwood samples, some sort of composite cement sample and some floating floor samples. I loved all of them except I didn't enjoy working with the laminate because of it's vertical texture (not smooth enough for me). I love seeing the grooves and cracks on the sides of the materials (particularly the flooring ones) because they provide some visually interesting quirks, but the surface is still beautifully smooth to work with! He wrote and performed the solo play Krapp. 39 which ran six months off-Broadway and received a Drama Desk Award nomination. (Subsequent productions in London, Dublin, and Edinburgh.) His play Hamlet in Bed (published by Dramatists Play Service) world-premiered Off-Broadway at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, NYC, in 2015, (directed by Lisa Peterson), with a subsequent UK premiere at Pleasance Theater, Edinburgh in 2016. He is the author of the full length plays Cincinatus (O Neill National Playwrights Conference finalist 2022), The Escape Artist, Virgil’s Cauldron, and the monologues The Shakespearean on the Porch, Bad Guy of the Week, and The Twilight Shopper: He also wrote and directed the indie feature film Escape Artists. His screenplay “Lit” (co-written with Jessica Sharzer) is in development with Killer Films.
