The feeling you get when baby's first latch is good and deep! Doula Katie supported this family through the many twists and turns of labor. After baby's arrival, Katie made sure to teach both mom and dad what a good latch is and all of the things to look for. It's especially important to note that breastfeeding shouldn't be painful and what to do if you experience pain. Do you have questions about breatsfeeding? Ask us how we can help! 1 in 5 women experience perinatal mental health issues. Caring for your mental health while pregnant and in postpartum is just as important as taking care of the physical. Accounts dating back to the 20th century reveal a history of obstetric violence, the ramifications of which still impact the mental and physical health of pregnant people as well as the care they receive from medical practitioners. Our doulas and birth workers offer support and care prioritizing the birth individual first, making sure you feel empowered in your ability to parent. You matter just as much as your baby does; you are not alone. #noonebirthsalone #improvingbirthoutcomes #birthwork #communitybaseddoulas #maternalmentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #childcare #atxdoulas

We are being called back to our ancestral ways. What is called "wild pregnancy" used to just be called pregnancy. What is called "free birth" or "home birth" used to just be called birth. Perhaps the default use of technology and interventions is the radical approach— and the natural, intervention-free approach is normal. In my work, I find myself often gently guiding women back to their intuition. So much has benefited from and sought out to severe women from their intuition. But in moments of doubt, despair, fear, and questions about their bodies, the answer always lies inside. Mothers always know what's best for their babies. Women always know what's best for their body and yoni. Underneath all the conditioning, limiting beliefs, and fears. It's not easy to step into responsibility for our health, bodies, and womanhood. But that doesn't mean it's not possible for you. Return to your roots. Reclaim your intuition. She is waiting for you. Birth will force you to confront your relationship to your yoni. Most women have never deeply touched or explored their yoni up until the moment of birth. If women knew the healing, pleasure, and emotional capacity of their yoni, I truly believe they wouldn't fear birth. There is a sentient and magical tissue that makes up the portal of our bodies. One that transforms pain into pleasure and releases stored emotions. The history you have with your yoni — perhaps it's one of fear, shame, complications, neglect, or an overall extractive relationship. Wherever you are with your body, it's never too late to begin. Whether you're pregnant or postpartum, your yoni just wants you to come home and reconnect with her. Understand her, listen to her, trust her, and eventually, allow her to be your compass. Doing this work leading up to birth is one of the most potent birth preparations you can do. As maidens we have a responsibility. We do not have many true responsibilities as this is not the medicine of our time. We do have a responsibility to the mother however— the next archetype of our being that awaits us. A responsibility to learn from her, care for her, and embrace her. It is in caring for other mothers that we heal our relationship with our own. It is in knowing other mothers that we prepare for our next rite of passage. It is in embracing other mothers that we step out of our spiraling minds and remember how much bigger life is than just us. The prepared and gentle passage into motherhood has already been weaved into life for us. We're now doing the work of finding our way back. If you are preparing for birth you may have asked questions like— What are the best ways to prepare? Should I take a hypnobirthing or breathwork course? How much of a difference will having access to water actually make? At the core of all these questions is just the fear of how prepared you will feel to handle the intensity, challenge, and laborious qualities of birth. Tools like birth courses, water therapy, counter pressure, acupressure, and more are all amazing and effective ways to prepare for labor. But at the core of preparing for labor and birth is addressing your own relationship to pain, discomfort, intensity, and doing hard things. Do you have a connection to your inner strength? How do you approach doing hard, seemingly impossible tasks? Start observing yourself in these challenging moments. Notice if you grit and bear it through pain. Or if it has a tendency to activate your ego or inner victim. Maybe you notice your ability to surrender, channel empowerment, and feel a glimmer of the beauty in the challenge. All of these experiences are perfect for meeting yourself where you are right now. On a daily basis, practice tapping into your reserves of strength. Embrace the opportunities life gives you to lean into the strong, mother archetype you have inside of you. This is the most powerful daily practice tool for birth. 🌸🌷🎀 I've been told pink is my color 🌸🌷🎀 @heyitsjulesmorlet can make a girl feel confident I am not usually camera shy. Except- I'm currently trying to find my confidence behind the camera in this postpartum body. Sometimes it's challenging to love your body as it is while also working to change it. But here I am- doing both. And let me remind you- you can love yourself now AND also work to make changes. It's not always easy- but it's possible. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Birth can be gentle and birth can be primal. And both experiences can be true at the same time. I've always appreciated the mindset that birth creates the exact experience, lesson, skills, and energy we need. Some of us need an initiation back into our power and strength. Others need a reminder that life wants to be inherently peaceful, blissful, and gentle with us. While visioning, manifesting, and setting boundaries for your birth, don't forget the most important birth plan— God's plan. The universe, the higher power, the energy of creation. Whatever you put your faith into, know that the magic that created life inside of you also has a plan for the birth of this life. There is an element of surrender that prevails over all birth planning, checklists, and manifestations. Can you trust that birth will deliver the exact experience you and your baby need? The work of birth planning is really just removing all obstacles that hinder the natural surrender and process of birth from unfolding. If you roared your baby out, thank your birth for reminding you of your strength. If you breathed your baby out, thank your birth for reminding you of your peace. Birth has always been perfect by design. Menstruation is a golden opportunity for rejuvenation, insights, and preparation for our future postpartum experiences. When we bleed, the body is releasing the energetic and physical matter of the previous month's cycle. This deep energetic and physical work asks us to slow down, rest, and tune inwards. By tending to our body's needs, we prepare for the next fertile cycle and all the gifts it will fill us with. When we are in a postpartum season, the body is experiencing a natural process for slowing down while it prioritizes healing and feeding your baby. The foundational needs apply to menstrual and postpartum seasons— rest, nourishment, support, and tuning inwards to the body's deeper needs. If you are a menstruating woman, tune into how you move through your bleeding time. If you're currently pregnant, reflect on your relationship to your cycle and how you have embraced rest through the first trimester. Each cycle is an opportunity to go deeper and prepare for the deeper version of slowing down and body attunement that postpartum asks of us. If I could go back in time- there is so much I would tell myself about being a mother. Two things are true for me • I'm grateful for my journey because it's paved the way for me to step into the woman & the mother I've always wanted to be. • There are so many things I wish I knew and would have done differently But I am so grateful God has put me on this path and has taught me so much. I don't even know the person in these photos. She's long gone- but I love her still. Im thankful for the things she went through to pave the way for a stronger & more confident version of herself. We love a good cheesy baby! Have you heard of vernix? It's this white, creamy, biofilm that coats a newborn's skin while in utero and immediately after birth. If left alone, it will soak into the baby's skin not long after birth. You know when you are in water a little too long and your skin starts to get wrinkly? Well vernix helps protect the baby's skin while they're surrounded by the fluid inside the amniotic sac. Vernix also helps protect the baby immediately after birth and up to one week after if not washed away because it locks moisture into the newborn's skin. This amazing substance also has antibacterial properties that support the baby's immune system. Here are a few benefits to not wiping away this protective substance immediately after birth: ⭐helps regulate baby's body temperature ⭐assists the skin to adapt to a non-fluid like environment ⭐acts as a protective layer to boost the immune system ⭐natural, antibacterial lubricant to help ease baby out during delivery Photo and support by doula Katie @bloomingbodiesdoula #sharedwithconsent #birthwork #birthworkers #birthdoula #atxdoulas #atxdoula #vernix #cheesybaby

I practice surrender everyday in preparation for the greatest act of surrender— birth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I surrender to the moon. How it tides with my cycle, my mood, my desires, my energy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I surrender to the sun. How it moves on its own time, sometimes available, sometimes not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I surrender to the earth. How it holds me down, feet on the ground, weighs me heavy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I surrender to my blood. How it builds and then releases. How it makes my body pulse. How it contracts and then expands me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I surrender to org*sm. How it asks me to soften, to trust, and to open. How it asks me for love and safety. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I surrender to my body. How it changes, heals, shifts, expresses itself. How it asks me to trust, the divinity of its intelligence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I surrender to God. How my life has always held me exactly as I needed, caught me when I fell, and loved me when I felt unworthy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That is how I surrender to the birth I have not yet had. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today a little surrender. And tomorrow a little more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #cyclecoach

Before your breasts spend years nourishing your baby, let your breasts nourish you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Breast massage is an essential practice of women's health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of us never fully occupy or connect with our breasts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In puberty, the budding of our breasts trends towards shame, embarrassment, or feelings of inadequacy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Later on, the breasts are often seen as something for our partner rather than for ourselves to enjoy, cherish, and embody. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We think the value of breasts is in how perky they are or in how they feed other's (whether that's milk or s*xual gratification). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I believe this is where a huge disconnect happens in female s*xual healing and holistic health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It it often shared that one of the spiritual roots of breast cancer is harboring resentment from over serving others. As women and as mothers, it is so common to give without truly tending to our own well first. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our breasts are meant to receive daily touch. Just like our yoni 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Positive blood flow to the breasts supports future and current milk supply. It also helps create new neural pathways to pleasure. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And, perhaps most importantly, it helps the lymphatic system throughout the breast space remove toxins and waste (physical and energetic) that accumulate there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So much gathers around the heart, from fragranced beauty products to actual heartbreak emotions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Reclaim your breasts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Touch them. Admire them. Love them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And let them nourish you, just as they have and will nourish those around you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ artist credit: Trisha Thompson Adams (tinyartshop) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #austindoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #purposedrivenlife #consciousparenting #crunchymama #informedconsent #naturalbirth #holisticbirth #homebirth #undisturbedbirth

Such words of wisdom Repost from @jules____alma • Water yourself first so you can water your partner, your children, your family, your friends, your home etc. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mother-centered living begins even before you're a mother. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Water your body so it knows what it's like to feel full, replenished, and alive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Water your heart so it knows what it's like to be pumping open and with love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Water your relationship so you know its potential, depth, and the strength of its foundation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Water the other mothers in your life, so you know what is possible for you too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Water the garden of your life. -- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've been learning about this idea of mother-centered postpartum care through @nestandbowl ‘s MotherTender Postpartum Doula training. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So often when a baby is born, family, friends and loved ones show up with good intention to support but with the primary focus being on the baby. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Meanwhile, the mother has gone through the most intense, psychedelic transformation of her life that she is still very much integrating. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mothers can take care of their babies. What they need is mother-centered care where we take away the menial everyday tasks that keep them from being able to fully drop-in, tend to their children, and integrate their transition into motherhood. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Watering a mother's garden looks like: preparing her food, cleaning her house, taking in the mail, grocery shopping, doing the laundry, changing her bedsheets, holding space for her emotions, doing the dishes, upholding her boundaries, and being as gentle with her as you are with her baby. image credit: unknown ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #postpartumhealing #holisticpostpartum #postpartumdoula

This is the bare minimum. Birth offers an opportunity for a woman to feel the most confident, powerful, in love, whole, and blissful she ever has in her life. Birth is not just about "safety" or a "safe delivery". It is about who a woman becomes and uncovers in herself through the beautiful intensity of her birth experience. Two beings are born during a birth—a child and a mother. Unfortunately, what we are seeing today with the rise of postpartum mental health disorders is a clear link back to the trauma and boundary crossing that women experience in overly medicalized birth settings. Settings where they have been assaulted, manipulated, coerced, and deeply disrespected in the most vulnerable moment of their lives. Settings where their partner was unprepared to step up and protect them. They are then told that what was done was in the name of "safety" and really that they and their baby were actually "saved" by the medical industrial complex. This is not ok. And we as women feel it in our bones when the physiological birth experience has been disrespected through manipulation and coercion. A space or system that does not honor the sacredness, sensitivity, or spiritual nature of birth does not care to know birth. Even more importantly, a system that does not prioritize the uninterrupted hormonal and biological relationship between a mother and her baby does not care to know or understand birth. The desired outcome of birth is a whole, healthy, empowered, transformed woman who has brought her child into the world in her divine, intuitive way. #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #cyclecoach

Repost from @jules____alma • How to create an empowered postpartum plan ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your postpartum plan matters just as much as your birth plan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In many ways, I've found postpartum to be even more mysterious than birth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once the transition from maiden to mother happens through the birth, then we're like, now what? And are swiftly transitioned into a lifestyle and role that very few of us are exposed to or prepared for. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Creating a postpartum plan is an example of caring for your future self. How to create an empowered postpartum plan ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your postpartum plan matters just as much as your birth plan. We become mothers and in essence, I think we're also asked to become even stronger mothers for ourselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Set your boundaries. Anticipate your needs. Gather your community. Transform fear into love for your future mother-self while you're still pregnant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Postpartum doesn't have to = depression, despair, isolation, pain, rushing, forcing, anxiety, or bouncing back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By turning to ancient ways, we see the exact frameworks that have supported women for centuries and put mothers at the center of a community for care and nourishment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Everyone's experience is valid and unique AND as a whole society, we can be doing so much more to prepare mothers, support mothers, and care for our newly-born mothers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Rest, nourishment, containment, support, and bodywork. When I started studying the cycle and learning how it affects a woman’s body, emotions, and mind, a major piece of my feminine intuition clicked into place. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I stopped trying to do the same things everyday and holding the same expectations of myself throughout my entire cycle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Everything from the way I worked, ate, moved, and even related to my partner shifted more intentionally once I began practicing cyclical living. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For me, it’s less about rigidity and getting the exact food or exercise during certain phases and more about learning my body’s unique needs during the various phases of my cycle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Getting to know your body and your energy patterns will take patience and time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post with the full steps and details on how to form a cyclical awareness practice. It was super neat to get a zoomed out view of my personal cycle experience through each phase. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you're interested in practicing cycle awareness, here are the basic steps: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1️⃣ Start with learning how to be aware of your current cycle day and then keeping that in your awareness each day. 2️⃣ Take note or journal on how you feel each cycle day. After about three cycles, sit and compare to see if there are any patterns in your cycle experience. 3️⃣ Begin implementing additions or subtractions to your cyclical experience with this new wisdom. You can focus on your nutrition, movement, relationships, work, and so much more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our cycles are absolute magic and life-giving when we learn how to work with them and advocate for them. I can’t wait for you to experience the power and confidence that comes with knowing your cycle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With love, Jules ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ artist credit: @brittanybouyer

I don't normally like these kinds of posts. . . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The experience of labor and birth truly feels different for every woman. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For some, your waters may be leaking for days before you "feel" anything. For others, everything happens rapidly and almost all at once. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Labor offers such a range of intensity, bliss, challenge, and ease— I've always believed that an undisturbed birth delivers exactly the experience a woman needs for her higher healing and initiation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When preparing for birth (or anything important for that matter), we often have a very human tendency to want to control through knowledge. "My labor must and will go exactly in these phases for everything to be ok and for me to feel safe!" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Knowledge is so beneficial AND equally powerful is the ability to surrender to your body's unique variation of normal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tuning into your intuition during pregnancy is a powerful practice for building your ability to discern what is normal vs when something is intuitively off. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And inviting your partner to support you in the exact ways you feel called for them to step up will create another powerful intuitive force in your birth space. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It took two lovers to create a baby and ideally will take two lovers to bring their baby through the portal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ Jules ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming #yoniverse

Imagine if women grew up touching and exploring themselves the way men do. How powerful, embodied, rooted, confident, connected, and unshakeable would womankind be? I think women would be filled with significantly less fear and anxieties. We would embody queen energy from a young age. Choose our partner(s) with a filled cup rather than an empty or shaky one. Live more cyclically and with less urgency, stress, and self-boundary crossing. Our yoni's would feel nourished, healthy, and pleasure-filled. Our birthplace has been calling to us— all of us. So while ancestral men started wars over 🐱 , what will you do for your own yoni? She's waiting for you. 🌀 ❤️ ✨ My free yoni mapping course is now available. Being a woman asks us to go deep— to literally reach inside ourselves. So many women I've met and spoken to are afraid to touch themselves. Some even afraid to look at their yoni in the mirror. How did we get here? I don't say this to shame any woman or place fault on you. Our society and culture has created fear in women's bodies for centuries. I write this because I was once afraid to touch myself too. Something incredible happens when a woman is able to touch herself with admiration, awe, presence and love. Something that reinstates her power, confidence, and womanhood. If this resonates with you, I think it's important to ask yourself—if you are not the number one toucher, lover, and authority of your body, then who is? When did you start believing that your body wasn't yours to explore, touch, love, and know? How has it felt to exist in your body with this framework? If you want to control someone, you would separate her from her source of power. If the yoni is a woman's source of power, where do you see women being controlled? #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming #yoniverse #divinefeminine #femininity #femininehealing

To all the loving maidens that deeply want to support the mothers in their life but just aren't sure how: ✨ Your mother-friends need more food than you and are in need of a good meal at all times! Feed them, bring them good food, encourage them to eat, and whip up another meal while you visit! ✨ Tell them how gorgeous and incredible they look 100x over. Of course, make sure it's genuine. Mothers are goddesses. ✨ Pick up after yourself and then pick up after them. See the pile of dirty dishes? See the dirty clothes piled up? Take the initiative to give them a hand. Little errands and household tasks really make a difference. ✨ Bring them a gift too and check in with how they're feeling— but like how they're really feeling. Their baby is the center of their world and mothers need to be the center of our world. Mothers need mothering! ✨ When you're visiting and want to help, realize that all your mother-friend wants is to be with her baby in bliss. It's all the other duties of life that get in the way of that. Ask yourself which of those duties or to-do items can you take off her plate? The answer is not holding the baby for her while she "hosts" you. ✨ Remember that postpartum is *forever*. Your friend will always be a mother and always presented with the next phase of motherhood initiations. To recap; bring her nourishment and laughter, anticipate her needs, remind her of her beauty, remind her she's still *insert name* but now she's a superhero mother too, and feel the deep gratification of bringing the mother back to the center of our society. -- This post is dedicated to my dear friend @amandakingsmith! Thank you for allowing me a glimpse into your motherhood journey and inspiring me everyday with the way you embrace motherhood with such surrender and love. It's simple and it's also not 😝 ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Support is going to look different and require different methods depending on the birthing environment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the beginning of my doula career, I set an intention to avoid hospital births as much as possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being a birth doula in a hospital setting often requires a fighting spirit, firm advocacy, and strong base of energy to pull from. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My individual strengths and skills are in amplifying peace, intimate connections, attuning to a woman's needs, and instilling confidence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the home birth setting, I am able to fully lean into these strengths to bring the birthing woman the sacred space and container of support she is desiring to go confidently deep within herself to bring her baby earth side. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are some incredible birth doulas that specialize in planned hospital births and that thrive on the fire within themselves to fight and advocate for a woman's rights that are often violated in the hospital setting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In my birthworker career, I have chosen a different path of advocating for a woman's full rights and trust in her body to birth as early in pregnancy as possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Regardless of the setting or speciality of your birth team, all birthing women deserve peace, confidence, freedom, empowerment, full consent, and advocacy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These support guidelines apply to your birth team as well as any loved ones or family in your birthing space ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming #yoniverse #affirmations #birthaffirmations

What you speak to yourself, you believe. And what you believe shapes your reality. Affirmations are a powerful practice for any stage of life but especially for the time leading up to birth. Just like the feminine psyche, our s-xual organs are complex and beautiful. They experience the full spectrum of emotions just like we do in the rest of our body. In fact, I’d go as far to say that our s-xual organs are the second largest conduits to our emotional bodies, besides our hearts. There was a time whenever I went to explore myself inside, I felt numbness or discomfort in most places. Like many women, I concluded that this experience meant I was simply one of those women that couldn’t org-sm internally. What I didn’t see at the time was the fear I had around exploring myself. There were so many past events and memories stored in my internal tissues that I had pushed down to the point of almost forgetting them entirely. As my willingness to meet my body expanded, I began practicing slow exploration sessions of my yoni. I released the expectation to *only* feel pleasure and instead set out with the intention to listen to what my yoni had to express. Through my yoni mapping practice I have formed the deepest, most trusting relationship I’ve ever had with my yoni. When I say a woman's body is a spiritual practice, this is the foundation of that. For women that have experienced any form of trauma surrounding their yoni, this is the practice that will bring you back to yourself. Yoni mapping will change the way you touch yourself, feel about yourself, and how you have s-x. The key, like with all good things, is to show up consistently and trust the process. If this practice and experience speaks to you, I have a free intro to yoni mapping course available -- sign up via my link in bio. I don't need a doula because *fill in the blank* YES, it's true! Maybe you don't!! However, I think there is a huge misconception that a doula is only useful if you're at the hospital or you feel you need someone to advocate for you. 🚨📰 NEWSFLASH 📰 🚨 Just because you love your OB/Midwife or you're having a homebirth does not necessarily mean you don't need a doula. I've had 2 doula-free births. One NOT great & one AMAZING. BUT- for my 3rd I have a doula and I am THRILLED. DM (I have a lot to say 😅) me to hear why. I'm happy to chat about what I wish I new with my last two & how a doula would have made it better! Swipe to see how a doula can still be helpful to you even if *fill in the blank* Also, here are some quick things to think about- ⚡️Your doula supports your husband just as much as you- just in a different way! Dads also deserve to feel respected, heard, & emotionally supported. ⚡️Doulas are still a vital addition to your homebirth (ESPECIALLY if this is your 1st epidural-free birth). ⚡️ We do more than just advocate for you & squeeze your hips. ⚡️ We can support your other kids during your birth. ⚡️ We're here to support you a few hours after you deliver baby (example: a home cooked meal after a homebirth or picking up your favorite food after an out-of-home birth). ⚡️ The right doula (for you) will know when to hold space when you desire alone time to be ONLY with your partner or family. ⚡️ Each doula you talk to will offer a unique set of skills, philosophies, & styles of support #austindoula #atxdoulas #atxdoula #austinbirthworker #lionessbirthtraining #austinbirth #homebirthaustin #homebirth #austinmoms #austinmomsblog #austinmom

Beauty and womanhood have always had a natural relationship. Throughout history we have adorned and devoted ourselves to beauty rituals whether with our blood, the salt of the sea, the oil of plants and animals, or the pigments of the earth. Beauty displays itself in the way a woman moves, smiles, laughs, radiates energy, shows her colors, shows her heart, and becomes a piece of art that is impossible to imitate. I believe beauty has always been about creating a totally unique, radiant, piece of artwork from our God-given bodies. Beauty is not what comes from a place of lack, wanting to hide, or seeking perfection. Beauty shines in those that are transmuting the energies of love, peace, confidence, art, authenticity, and healthy ego/power. I adorn my body with waters, salts, oils, colors, and beautiful fabrics because I love myself, love my form, and love taking care of this sacred vessel I'm in. I seek not perfection but the deepest love and care my body is deserving of. Beauty rituals coming from a place of lack and insecurity will always feel tedious, exhausting, and unfulfilling. Whereas beauty rituals rooted in love, devotion, and sacredness will nourish your body and soul on a whole new level. What part of your body or beauty rituals are calling for love today? In blood, in healing, in waiting, in stress, in inflammation, in sickness, in disconnection— your yoni is awaiting your touch. In what expressions of her are you afraid to touch her? When do you find yourself wanting to close her doors and say “maybe tomorrow?” A yoni-led life can be confronting, easy to put off, or disguise itself as “not your thing”. But every woman’s yoni is “her thing”. Every woman can be “that kind of woman”. The one who knows how her body works, who knows what her body needs, and knows her body’s edges of potential. There are so many ways to touch yourself. Sometimes it’s about pleasure and sometimes it’s about patience, release, listening, cooling and loving. I trust my yoni to always show me what I need to see, feel, or know. She is my guide and compass through life. When I am rooted in my womb and tuned into my turn on— that is my place of grounding. My yoni mapping practice has brought me here and continues to show me the way and places that need love and healing. Why do so many women have an innate fear of their bodies? Maybe it's because girls aren't encouraged to be in love with their bodies and explore them as much as boys. S*xuality for women and men is different for sure, it's naturally designed to be different. Maybe if we spoke openly about the wonders of menstruation, amrita, pregnancy, birth, or*sm, s*x, pleasure, then more and more girls would have a desire to get to know their bodies and hence themselves on a deeper level. Living in a women's body asks us to go deep within -- literally and figuratively. We must enter ourselves to uncover and feel what is underneath. If we only ever let someone else "do this for us", we will never actually know what we and our bodies are capable of. There are little girls and young women around you listening. They listen to how you talk about your body, your experiences, your womanhood. And they want to be just like you because you are the archetype of a beautiful woman. So speak with love instead of fear. Speak with awe instead of disgust. Speak with confidence instead of apathy. Most women have a deep rooted fear that their anatomy or female body is flawed in some way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whether it's under the label of hormonal health, period struggles, libido, s*x, anatomy concerns, uncomfortable yoni symptoms— so many of us carry shame and fear surrounding this part of our bodies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of us were never fully taught how to take care of our female bodies, beyond the basic period instructions and fear of pregnancy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of us have never seen another woman's yoni in the flesh. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of us have a very minimal baseline idea of what's "normal" anatomically and just how much variety there can be in our different anatomies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of us have never experienced the full potential of our yoni's pleasure and voice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of us have only touched our yoni's out of fear or demanded pleasure. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In my core and heart, I know every woman is capable of experiencing full confidence, trust, safety, health, pleasure, expansion, and connection with her yoni. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just like all things that are worth it, it will take small daily steps, presence, commitment, and a loving touch. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you'd like to get introduced to yoni mapping I have a free email course I've just released recently— look for it under my "free stuff" highlight ✨😘 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you do anything today, touch your yoni for 5 minutes. No goals, no pressure, just slow, curious touch. I am a doula without children. When I first graduated my doula training, I had doubts in the back of my mind that any mother-to-be would actually want to work with me due to the fact I had never given birth myself. Nevermind the fact that many OBs are men or childless women. Over time and working with different clients, I've come to better appreciate the unique value I do bring to supporting women through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. The world needs more conscious birthworkers. Women need other women who are led by their hearts. Women need other women who are willing to warmly and gently support their deepest desires and challenge their deepest fears. And these are the areas where I show up fully and wholly for all the women I work with. I came to the birth world because of my own experiences with medical trauma and neglect with my female body. I've known from a young age just how sadly lacking the available healthcare and knowledge is for women's bodies within western medicine. I've known from my own experiences that deep health and radiance for the female body experience comes primarily from our ancient ways and holistic practices — rather than the sterilized, medicalized care as our primary means of healthcare. I am a doula because I believe wholeheartedly in the intelligence of a woman's body. Attending births is simply the coolest, most amazing, fascinating thing I've ever done in my life and it's always an absolute honor to be present for one. And every woman that allows me the privilege of being in her birthing space, gives me back a piece of confidence in myself, my body, and my womanhood. Maidens need mothers and mothers need maidens. We're here to support and love one another. ✨Jules #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming #yoniverse

For those that are newer to the idea of birthing at home, the first questions are usually along the lines of "is it really safe?" or "what happens if there's an emergency?". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This always strikes me as interesting — why is the first question for women not, "WHY do you want to birth at home?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The reasons are different for everyone, but the core desire to birth freely at home is always rooted in a call back to the heart and healing for the woman. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe at some point she felt she lost the connection between her body and God. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe her body was violated or assaulted and she's ready to take her power back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe she is ready to feel all that life has to offer, including the intensity and magnificence of birth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe her child in womb has made it very clear to her how they would like to enter the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe she and her partner want to walk this path together because they instinctively know the healing connection that is available to them through this work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whatever the reasons, once a woman is pregnant, her instincts are guiding her down the path she is destined to walk. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Intuition is the superpower of womankind. And it is amplified in the motherhood transition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ~ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Birth is confronting and it is also a portal. It will bring up all your stuff, all the stuff of everyone around you, and then if you stick to your heart + core, you will move through the other side in the greatest awe and trust of yourself + God that you've ever had. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The best things are always worth the work. Especially the spiritual work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Love & light, Jules ✨ #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming #yoniverse

How to feed a postpartum woman— So many of us want to help, support, and nourish the postpartum women in our lives but just don’t know quite how. While it seems we’ve lost many of our innate, ancient traditions and knowings, the good news is that in the Information Age, we can easily find the pieces that bring us back together 🌀 Postpartum women need warmth, nourishment, bodywork, and rest. The nourishment piece really is key in healing. The average breastfeeding woman is burning an extra 500-700 calories a day. Not to mention her body is also tasked with rebuilding lost blood cells, healing any tears, and supporting the shifting of her internal organs back into place. Postpartum is not the time to diet or rush to “getting your body back”. It’s about supporting your body so it can feed your baby nutrient dense breast milk + heal in the most optimal ways possible. Postpartum women need— ✨ Deep hydration; electrolytes, minerals, meals that are high in water content ✨ Warming foods; both in terms of spice profiles and actual temperatures. Think soups, stews, purées, puddings etc. ✨ Nutrient density; slow-cooked foods that have the maximum amount of time to release their medicinal qualities. Think bone broths, 24hr stews and soups, slow cooked meats etc. ✨ High-quality fats; grassfed butter, cold-pressed and organic olive oils, coconut oils, and avocado oils. Make sure to avoid any inflammatory oils like canola, rapeseed and all the other seed oils. ✨ Food cooked with love; ever seen the study of how the molecules of water took on different shapes based on what words were spoken to it? When you cook for a postpartum woman, speak to your food with love, take your time with it and imbue it with all your best energy. Birth is intense, limit-stretching, and transformational to remind you of your power. You could do it, if you wanted to. It used to be the way— the only way. Why were the women, tasked with this feat? The creation, the sustaining, the birth, and the nourishing. I believe it was to bring us back to our centers— the central power of who we are and what we're truly capable of. Women's bodies are sacred but they are not fragile. Women's bodies are made of muscle and blood. Only a woman knows what it's like to feel her womb contract in her lower belly. To breathe in rhythm with it. To trust it, to listen to it. Only a woman knows how to sink a layer deeper into herself. To become one with earth and alchemize pain into pleasure. To tend to her own waters and reach inside herself for her creation. Only a woman— can birth her baby. Can birth a whole universe if she wanted to. Choose your birth team based on energy, connection, values, and intuition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who you surround yourself with during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum really does matter. The people around you will have an influence on your experience both practically and energetically. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When a woman is pregnant and leading up to birth, her energetic body is in one of the most sensitive states she will ever experience in her lifetime. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The role of a birthworker/doula/midwife/even OB is meant to be highly sacred and spiritual in nature. Their energy and all that they carry can and will likely be felt by you in the birth space. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Many women try to find the "best" doula or birthworker based off of credentials or a checklist of accomplishments (e.g. lactation consultant, number of births, postpartum trainings, placenta encapsulator etc.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At the core of searching for the best birth team really comes down to what your unique needs are as a pregnant woman and birthing mother. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who have you consulted with that brings you joy, inspiration, confidence, comfort, and warmth? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who feels ready and excited to walk side by side with you on this journey? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do they believe about birth and is it a match for how you would like to approach your own birth? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your ideal support could come in unexpected places and forms. But ultimately, who you decide to work with is a reflection of what you are calling into yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sisterhood and connection are essential components of maternal health (and all women's health for that matter!). I truly believe we aren’t meant to do life alone. #hireadoula 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ credits: @_kallenmikel @wearetutti @seedsofspells @studiospiritysol @blumenwomb other images found via Pinterest #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming

Have you met our wonderful postpartum doula Julia? She's been part of the postpartum team for some time now and loving being part of the team! Julia grew up with a huge family on a farm in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Yes, it's as dreamy as it sounds! She can't remember a moment in her life that wasn't surrounded by nature, family and friends - her community. In Brazil it takes a village to raise a child. Since she can remember, she knew she wanted to work with kids and help them become amazing people. Before moving to Austin, she didn't know postpartum doulas existed. The more she read about them, the more she fell in love and the more she felt called to the work. She feels so in touch with herself while doing this work and there's so much she can't express in words. To her, being a doula means helping others with whatever they need, being their village, supporting, caring, loving, and connecting with others. @ju_liab1441 #postpartumdoula #postpartum #postpartumsupport #atxdoulas #atxdoula

Birth has the power to walk a woman back home to herself. Name the moments in your life that brought you to your knees, showed you the edge of the Universe, made you call for God, and ultimately delivered you a layer deeper to yourself. Who were you in and after that moment? ●~●~●~●~ When a woman enters labor, the only way out is through. It's like any hero/heroine quest you read about in books or see in movies. Except in this case, it's real. It's you, it's your body, it's your life, and it's your child. The subconscious and spiritual experience of birth is stronger than any plant medicine you'll ever take. The woman's body is the shaman and the psychedelic. Find safety in yourself and the rest will move into place around you and through you. Instinctively, women fight for the right to experience undisturbed, non-medicalized birth because they know the process of birth as whole, perfect, and a piece of nature itself— that it can and should be trusted and revered as sacred. *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ Birthing in power over fear. Birthing in peace over anxiety. Birthing in support over the system. Birthing in sacredness over liabilities. ✨ Credits: @janellabeestudio @umamother @eyla_cuenca_birth @alex_grey_art #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming #yoniverse

We can access this “portal” through our cycle, in pleasure, in s*x, death, and other incredibly natural psychedelic experiences that life will offer to us. The veil between the physical and spiritual worlds begins thinning in pregnancy and then completely opens during birth. Of course having a child will change you in the most profound of ways, but I believe it is also witnessing the great mystery of nature, the universe, and life that really shakes our worlds as it hands us all its magic in physical human form. Then we realize that we are also made from the same divine source of love and magic. It will never seize to amaze me how naturally psychedelic the female body is. We are quite literally designed to move through the various phases of our lives through these highly spiritual initiatory experiences. As a doula/birthkeeper, I am always humbled when a woman allows me into this space with her. I cannot walk through the dark tunnel for her, but I will be outside, gently calling her name and reminding her she is never truly alone. I think life is sometimes about embracing the portals we will all inevitably walk through. We each do it our own way and while no one can walk our path for us, we are also never truly alone. The love that created us, the love that we create, and the love that surrounds us is always with us. Sending love to all the women walking through their portal experiences. Whether you're bleeding, birthing, menopausing, or just living 😝, you are loved and held by the Great Mama. For most of my life as a woman, I've been pushed by doctors to stop my menstrual cycle through chemical castration (HBC). The message being that having a period is optional— there are no health risks to "skipping" your period. And also how fortunate I would be to not have to deal with my🩸every month 🙃 This same agenda is still pushed on many women of all ages today. Menstruation is a vital detox pathway for the body. The uterus needs to shed its lining every month to maintain its health, strength, and vitality as a muscle/organ. Imagine your skin never being able to exfoliate— dead skin cells and lining building up for years. Ovulation is a vital hormonal process that replenishes the body every month. What many women aren't aware of is that birth control works by stopping ovulation. Without ovulation, there is no menstruation. When ovulation begins, you are given your monthly dose of testosterone, progesterone, and other vital feel-good hormones. These are the "maiden year" hormones. They promote youth, vitality, libido, and energy. Ask any woman off birth control how her first full ovulation felt. Most will report feeling the most energized, sensual, and feminine they have in years. Western medicine doesn't care to understand the complexity of the female body and its systems. In medicine, views are very black/white or input/output. The female body is beautifully complex by nature’s design. Our emotions, our hearts, our breasts, our hormones, our wombs, our yoni— they’re all interconnected in this incredible matrix of creation, pleasure and nature. So many women can take back their health, radiance, and joy just by learning how to work with their bodies. This isn't taught in schools and definitely not in your doctor's office. Practice cycle awareness, natural fertility tracking, and yoni mapping. The cycle is always the best place to start🩸🌀

Nothing fills our doula hearts more than a good home visit after your birth! Doula Amelia here (@centered_roots ) visiting a mom she had the honor of supporting not once, but twice! The stars truly aligned! This mom was induced and it happened to be the day her OB was on call, she had child support for her eldest, and Amelia was back in Austin after visiting family in Minnesota. It's truly an honor to serve each and every family. Often by the time the baby is born, we've all bonded and feel like we've become part of the family too! The role as a doula is so intimate, each birth is so unique, and every baby has their own story to tell as they make it earth side. #birthworkers #birthdoulas #atxdoulas #atxdoula #birthworker #birthwork #postpartumvisit

Lately I’ve noticed my body responding much quicker to my yoni mapping practice. When I put my fingers in myself and start to tune in, my tissues will often feel stuck, dry, or irritated to start. But with just a few minutes of slow, present touch, my tissues begin to soften and hydrate. And the liquid gold of my body begins to spread. This is pelvic bowl health and radiance for all women. We are meant to live juicy, open, and alive. Our yoni’s are meant to know the consistent and present touch of our own hands before anyone else’s. My yoni mapping practice is literally a daily meditation for me. It’s how I recenter myself and almost instantly feel my nervous system settle into a gentle hum. If there’s one practice or tool I wish every woman on earth knew about, it would be yoni mapping. It’s not a self pleasure practice although it can definitely turn into that if it feels right in the moment. ♥️ More on yoni mapping will be coming to my work. This tool can support so many women in their health journeys from fertility to menstrual health, birth, and postpartum healing. In the mean time, there is a free yoni mapping email course in my highlights 🌀😘 Sending love and liquid gold, Jules ✨ image credit: unknown #austindoula #austintxdoula #atxdoula #atxdoulas #austinhomebirth #austinhomebirthmidwife #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthing #traditionalmidwifery #traditionaldoula #traditionalbirthattendant #holisticdoula #austinholistic #menstrualcoach #menstrualhealth #menstrualhealthmatters #yoni #yonisteam #yonisteaming #yoniverse
