Je remercie Déborah de @babelio et les éditions Seuil @editionsduseuil pour l’envoi de ce roman dans le cadre d’une #massecritique. Lisa Vidmar quitte la Slovénie pour se rendre en France. Lisa n’est pas « petite » ; c’est une vielle dame et pourtant c’est la première fois qu’elle prend l’avion. Et la dernière pour Evelyne, hôtesse de l’air. Les deux femmes se lient d’amitié, et Evelyne accueille Lisa chez elle. Grâce à Evelyne, Lisa va enfin pouvoir se décharger d’un lourd fardeau : sa déportation et l’enfer vécu à Auschwitz Birkenau. S’appuyant sur des recherches documentaires, Rachel Mourier aborde dans ce premier roman les expérimentations médicales perpétrées dans les camps à la demande d’Himmler par le professeur Carl Clauberg, notamment sur les femmes. Sans nier à l’autrice son joli talent de conteuse, j’avoue ne pas avoir été totalement conquise par la forme du roman, à savoir des entretiens conduits par une psychologue pour aider Lisa à extérioriser le traumatisme enfoui au plus profond de sa mémoire, au cours desquels nous apprenons qui est la « petite » Lisa du titre. Je suis hélas restée « en surface » de ce roman, comme cela fut (dans une moindre mesure) le cas pour Le tatoueur d’Auschwitz. Je me dis que la raison en est peut-être que j’ai été tellement bouleversée par les témoignages de Ginette Kolinka, Marceline Loridan, Simone Veil ou Primo Levi, que j’éprouve une certaine difficulté à admettre qu’une part de fiction puisse être mêlée à l’atroce réalité. Je n’émettrai toutefois pas les mêmes réserves concernant La mort est mon métier, de Robert Merle ni Kinderzimmer, de Valentine Goby. Alors pourquoi ? 💬 C’est une vraie question de lectrice que je me pose, et que je me permets de vous poser aussi aujourd’hui. 💬 Si vous avez lu des ouvrages sur la Shoah, merci de partager vos avis, et me dire si vous avez été gêné.e par le mélange entre « réalité » et « fiction ».

Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah) 2024 will begin in Israel on the evening of May 5 & end May 6. Yom Hashoah was established in Israel in 1959. - Train to Auschwitz, (Oświęcim) in Polish. On my second trip to Poland, I traveled from Krakow to Oświęcim by train with a friend I met from the MJ community. I've been in Israel on this day and it's spine chilling when everyone stops in their tracks to honor those who were murdered. On one of my many trips to Warsaw, Poland, there were students there handing out paper daffodil flowers to commemorate the day. It's truly haunting to be there on Yom Hashoah. May we continue to honor and remember the victims of the Holocaust. I will keep trying to find a publisher for my long-term project on the camps. G-d bless my father who survived 8 Nazi forced labor camps and in memory of all his family, murdered during the Holocaust. They attacked the SS with stones and hammers, killing three of them, and set crematorium IV on fire with rags soaked in oil that they had hidden. * The Sonderkommando at crematorium II, who believed that a camp uprising had begun threw their kapo into a furnace. After escaping through a fence using wire cutters, they managed to reach Rajsko, where they hid in the granary of an Auschwitz satellite camp. * After Wiejowski, according to Polish historian Henryk Świebocki, at least 802 prisoners (757 men and 45 women) tried to escape from the camp. Only 144 were successful, 327 were caught, and the fate of 331 is still unknown.
Ce soir pour #yomhashoah, nous avons lu avec mon frère Bruno Bregman une partie des noms des Juifs déportés par le convoi 24 : parmi eux, nos grands-parents, Dora et Karl Bregman. Internés dans le camp de #rivesaltes, ils ont eu la lucidité de confier leur fils Grégoire à l’OSE et de lui sauver ainsi la vie. Grégoire a passé tout le reste de la guerre caché dans des homes d’enfants. Dora et Karl ont été déportés depuis Drancy par le convoi n24 du 26 août 1942. Ils ont été gazés à leur arrivée à #auschwitzbirkenau. À la vie ! N’oublions jamais.

❤️Biographique mais pas que ... Résumé en commentaire 👇 Photos 👉 Même si on connaît la vie de cette grande Femme, on arrive encore à être émue. Certes on connaît Simone Veil... mais connaît-on Simone Jacob ? Cette BD revient plus sur la vie de Simone, cette fille, cette sœur, cette déportée juive et non la femme politique (brièvement sur la fin, mais c'est loin d'être le thème principal du livre). Parallèlement, on suit aussi la parcours de sa sœur Denise, résistante. Et c'est particulièrement intéressant et enrichissant de voir ces deux destins, ces deux approches. Une considérée comme "juste" une juive survivante, l'autre comme une résistante. L'une ayant été en camp d'extermination, l'autre "juste" en camp de concentration. Le regard, le jugement de gens au lendemain de la seconde guerre mondiale est totalement différent. Une presque jugée comme ayant pris la place d'un autre survivant (pourquoi vous et pas lui?), l'autre portée aux nues car résistante. Et cet album, revient beaucoup sur ce thème. J'ai adoré découvrir cette "rivalité" non pas entre soeurs, mais entre survivants. L'une presque cachée et l'autre montrée. Côté dessins (quelques exemples en photos), ils sont beaux, remplis d'humanité, et se complètent parfaitement avec ces textes, ces bulles. La palette de couleurs est toujours en adéquation avec le thème abordé. Des joyeuses et dautres beaucoup plus sombres... L'ensemble est particulièrement instructif, tout en étant hyper accessible. Même en connaissant l'histoire, même en connaissant la vie de Simone Veil, même en ayant déjà lu un de ses livres, j'ai appris encore sur elle. De plus, l'angle est très privé. On a l'impression de presque pénétrer dans son intimité. ❤️En conclusion, une bande dessinée / roman graphique particulièrement réussi. J'ai aimé découvrir cette grande Femme dans toute sa simplicité mais aussi sa famille, décédée ou survivante. Bien que connaissant la "fin", je n'ai pu qu'être émue le jour de son enterrement dessiné. Un album hommage à Simone, à toute la famille Jacob, mais aussi à toutes ces victimes de cette barbarie, quelqu'elles soient. ❓️Connaissez vous la famille Jacob derrière Simone Veil ?

Howard Kleinberg was born May 3, 1925 in Poland. He was the youngest in a family of ten. The family had looked into emigrating to Canada early in the 1930s, but health concerns did not allow this. Two of Howard’s older siblings did make the voyage at that time. The rest of the family stayed in Poland, experiencing the anti-Semitism that was so common at that time. The coming of the war saw this intensify: Howard’s family was forced into a ghetto, leaving everything behind. Eventually the SS held one of their terrible selections, and most of Howard’s family was deported, sent to their deaths in one of the camps. From there Howard began his life as a slave labourer, moving through a succession of camps as the war raged around him. Howard ended up in Bergen Belsen, where his health deteriorated, and it was there that a young woman named Nancy saved his life. Howard went on to recover in Germany, and in 1948 he made his way to Canada. Howard and Nancy were able to reconnect; they married and built a new life in Canada. Howard and Nancy first came to Crestwood courtesy of the Holocaust Centre of Toronto, and they went on to visit us many times, and we were able to visit them at Baycrest’s Cafe Europa and in their home. I've been watching the new series, the tattooist of Auschwitz. I also have read the book. Sense watching the show remind me of my mum, and I went to visit Auschwitz back in 2015. I never thought this place existed in real life. You can't imagine how many people went through Auschwitz or any of the camps that Hitler had creative in Europe. I have no words to explain why humans do this to each other. We still have not learned our lesson of being kind of each. There is still a lot of hate in this world. Auschwitz- Birkenau 🙏 The first picture was the only one taken by me, the other two taken by a friend we travelled with. Somehow it felt really wrong to take any photos at all. A very surreal experience, would definitely recommend for anyone to visit here. Boeken met eenzelfde thema - geschreven door verschillend auteurs maar de belangrijkste personages zijn echter dezelfde. Dat kan dus gebeuren bij non-fictie verhalen. Deze zijn alvast in romanvorm gegoten en dus voor het grote publiek geschikt en toegankelijk. Echte aanraders voor liefhebbers van historische verhalen - periode WOII. In Een liefde in Auschwitz krijgt Zippy de hoofdrol en wordt Alma vermeld. Terwijl in De violiste van Auschwitz Alma de hoofdrol krijgt en Zippy een bijrol. Maar hoe toevallig dat ik dan nog eens deze boeken zo snel na elkaar lees!
