Good enough is enough. That’s what this painting reminds me of. . If you have ever hiked the Sta7mes Chief, you’ll recognize this boulder right away. If you know, you know. It’s around the half way point and can be a brief rest stop if you need it. At this point you know you’re almost at the top, where you are rewarded with an incredible view of the valley and Howe Sound. You know you’re close and that it gets easier past this point. . But sometimes, the peak and all its beauty, requires more energy than my friends and I have. One those days we make our goal the Boulder. There’s not much of a view, but you got your legs moving and you got outside. It’s good enough. . We are taught to be perfectionists. We are taught to do things well so we can be proud of our efforts and perform to the best of our ability. We are rewarded for our effort in school with good grades and gold stars. We’re rewarded at work with bonuses and promotions. Hustle culture rewards people for being busy and overworked. But we aren’t machines. We can’t be perfect all the time. In fact, if we were rewarded or just made it more acceptable for “good enough” to be a standard,I think our society would operate the exact same way, but people would probably be less anxious and depressed. . So I’m celebrating the “good enough” days. Congrats on participating. Congrats on showing up. Well done. See you at the peak, see you at the boulder. Wherever you are able, it’s good enough.

First, and maybe only, alpine hike of the summer. And man, did I remember why I love hiking so much. . This summer has been a really weird one. Summer days, when the weather is groovy and the instagram feed is lit can be really lonely. Especially when you have two months off and feel like you have to be doing something cool every single day or you’re wasting it. The injury didn’t help, but the pressure and anxiety has been something I’ve struggled with for a long time. I realized too late that my expectations were unrealistic for a summer with a broken collarbone. I forgot, for a minute there, how to be grateful and reflective. I rely heavily on my body to carry me to new places, and when I was forced to be home, I didn’t know how to BE with myself. I thought I mentally prepared for an injury, as mountain biking is a dangerous sport. I was stoic and patient when I broke it. I was stoic and patient through out the surgery. But the awkward time when I wasn’t in pain anymore but wasn’t allowed to use my arm.. I was not a cool cucumber. . Hiking gives me all kinds of perspective. I take my body up a massive thing and get to look down at my life below. Big mountains help me feel small and grateful to be alive. I get to remember how fragile life is and how able my body is. I get to admire the little flowers that only get two months to grow. The same two months that I feel anxious about. It may have been my only hike this summer but it gave me the perspective I needed to breathe again. . Thanks @laur.shore for photos and the shared adventure. I enjoyed the clouds with you 🤍

Life got busy and just finished editing our trip from a couple weeks ago. The roads were easy, but the views were insane. Got to explore some alpine areas and camped at 2300m’s. We woke up to snow, but it was still worth it.
