This curious harbour seal was watching us explore Wallace Island, British Columbia. I think he was as interested in me as I was in him! The beautiful waters of the Salish Sea allowed us to see his body as he floated nearby checking us out before he headed off fishing again. "The most widely distributed species of pinniped, they are found in coastal waters of the northern Atlantic and Pacific oceans, Baltic and North seas." Or submarine. Or float plane. Or exceptional swimming skills. Did we find #geocaches ? Sure did. It was a wonderful way to enjoy a memorable anniversary weekend, made extra special by our friends @golandsharkz who brought us to Ganges on Saltspring Island and then Wallace Island. Figure your life out! What does that even mean? What does it mean to have your life figured out, and why do we always feel so much pressure to "have things figured out?" Well, I'll tell you what I have figured out for myself. I've figured out that I'm a person who has multiple interests in life and who has a wanderlust spirit. I'm likely to keep confusing everyone on where I am, what I'm currently doing for work, etc. And it is so freeing to finally just embrace that! I used to get so down on myself anytime I changed my mind on something I thought I really wanted to do until I realized that I just thrive the most by trying new things, being in new places and always learning something new. Maybe to some, it'll appear that "I'm just figuring my life out." But this IS my life. I'm just sharing in case any of you have been wondering if you are "lost" or "can't figure out what you want to do in life." Maybe being "lost" is exactly where you need to be. 💓✨️ Thoughts? 📍Quercus Viewpoint, Murrin Park, Squamish, BC #bcparks #vancouvertrails #squamishbc #beautifulbc # #pnwbc

. #cascadefalls #missionbc #vancouver #woodland #woodlandphotography #britishcolumbia #explorecanada #bcparks #beautifuldestinations #photographytips #canada #canadalove #imagesofcanada #canadaviews #exploreBC #explorebcparks #explorebccanada #brunononogaki

Let's talk about Pinecone Burke Provincial Park! The park boundary starts in Coquitlam and extends all the way north until it hits Garibaldi. There's very limited access to the park, but the parts you can visit are super underrated! . With this trip, I've now visited the park from 3 different entry points. The most easily accessible is off Harper Road in Coquitlam. You can also enter off Mamquam FSR in Squamish if you have a high clearance 4x4, or pictured here, through Widgeon Creek by paddle boat! . After kayaking for 1.5 hours, we hiked 5km round trip to Widgeon Falls. It's been on my bucket list for a while, and I'm thrilled we finally found the time for it! . 📍Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Sto:lo, Tsawwassen, Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla territories . . . #exploreBC #beautifulBC #kayakBC #hikingBC #widgeoncreek #pineconeburkeprovincialpark #bcparks #widgeonfalls #PNW #adventure #getoutside #womenwhoexplore #womenwhohike #mountains #forest #river #fun

I am often asked, "should I let my dog sniff while out on a walk?" We all know the importance of sniffing. It's the most natural mental stimulation you can get. However, there are times when it needs to be adjusted due to behavioural issues. For me, whether or not they sniff, when, and how, is case by case. But here is a simplified version of my thoughts.... If working a basic obedience case, as long as the dog doesn't pull towards the smell & they are able to move on from it when asked, then yes! Go ahead and sniff. However, when working with aggressive, reactive, and some anxious dogs, the protocol is sniffin' by permission ONLY. If a dog has clearly shown you that they struggle to make good decisions, take away a lot of their decision making. Instead focus on structure, boundaries, and a load of guidance. Doing this even in the smallest of ways, and in seemingly "indirect" ways from the specific issue you wish to target, can make a big impact. #comoxvalley #comoxvalleydogwalking #comox #comoxvalleybc #dogsofinstagram #courtenaybc #pawsup #balanceddogtraining #balanceddogtrainer #dogsofvancouverisland #victoriadogs #victoriabc #dogsofvictoria #comoxvalleydogdaycare #comoxvalleydogs #bcparks #dailybarker #dailybark #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #puppies #comoxvalleysmallbusniess #comoxvalleybusiness #comoxvalleylife #dogrescue #dogsofvanisle #dogsofcanada #dogsofinstagram #victoriabc #victoria #dogsofvictoria

I learned progressively that almost each time after it rains comes with gorgeous light in the sky and even rainbow sometimes especially near sunset time and that opens up a great window of opportunity for shooting. I waited in the car when it was pouring down and thought maybe I should just go back home, but same time part of me was so relaxed and enjoying the rain drops so I just sat and waited until it stopped. . #FlashBackFriday with the hope that this beautiful location will open again. 📸@vancouvertrails After a massive atmospheric river event in 2021 caused significant damage to Othello Tunnels in Coquihalla Canyon Park, the park has remained closed since and is unlikely to re-open in 2024. However, BC Parks' has been working hard to restore the trail that passes through the old tunnel system and across the rugged canyon and are expected to provide a more detailed update. Othello Tunnels was averaging more than 175,000 visitors per year (last reported in 2018) as it served as a scenic stop for BC residents and travellers, many of whom stopped while driving the Coquihalla Highway. The trail also has served as a reminder how treacherous it was building railways in the early 1900's through the mountainous regions of British Columbia. The section of trail was part of the Kettle Valley Railway that connected the west coast to Nelson, BC, and several towns in-between. A major washout occurred along the Kettle Valley Railway in 1959 and the rail system was abandoned. It now serves as part of the Trans Canada Trail system. We hope Othello Tunnels will reopen but in the meantime, you can check out @vancouvertrails Youtube channel for a 4K walk-through of the trail taken before the atmospheric river damage. #vancouvertrails #othellotunnels #transcanadatrail #hope #hopebc #bcparks #2024hiking #explorebc #outdoorvancouver #explorecanada #vancouver #womenwhohike #hikinginbc #hikingcommunity #hikebc #veryvancouver #2024hikinggoals #hikinggoals #2024goals

April is the peak of tick season in BC, so you should understand ticks, their risks, and how to prevent getting bit by one. They are small and mostly harmless, however ticks bites can become infected or can even pass Lyme disease to its host. Ticks are most active in the spring, especially Rocky Mountain Wood Ticks and Black-Legged Western Ticks. Regions such as the coast, the interior, and the dry belt into the east are popular for ticks, however they can be found throughout the province. These two species are the most common to bite humans. Our furry friends are also at risk - often times, it is a dog or cat that carries the tick over to their human. Be sure to thoroughly check yourself and your pet's for ticks after going outdoors, especially in tall grass, woody areas, or rocky landscapes. Many flea medications can also protect your pet against ticks - ask your veterinarian. Prevent ticks by tucking shirts, sleeves, and pant legs in and wearing high socks so no skin is exposed. Wear gaters or tall rubber boots. Spray a deet product on yourself and your pack. You can also wear lighter clothing to help when checking yourself for ticks. Remove ticks carefully and ensure the head is not left behind in the skin, as it may cause an infection. Seek medical attention if you begin to show symptoms of Lyme disease, such as fever, headache, muscle/joint pain, a "bulls-eye" skin rash, and weakness or paralysis of facial muscles. #WildSafeBC #BCConservation #Conservation #Tick #Ticks #BCTicks #TickSafety #Lymedisease #Tickremoval #Tickinfection #Hikinh #Camping #Outdoors #BCNature #BCParks #BCCamping #BCHiking #OutdoorSafety #TickSeason #TickAwareness #Tickprevention
