For a few years now we’ve adopted the J17 Matriline, this financial contribution fuels critical research that protects endangered species such as our beloved Southern Residents. They are also working to prevent pollution from harming marine life, through the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and Ocean Wise’s new Plastic Reduction Program. They also protect marine habitats and create ocean-based solutions to fight climate change, by growing and restoring Kelp forest. Among these accolades, we couldn't resist to mention she finished with a 66 at last year's Upland's Junior Club Championship, which earned her the women's course record! What a very busy weekend at our two Macedon garden openings @cadellaparkevents and @bolobek. Macedon was alive with garden lovers who were also there to celebrate the Macedon Ranges Autumn Festival. The first four pics were taken at Cadella Park and you can see the gorgeous autumn colours in this historic garden that we opened for the very first time. Pictured is Simon Rickard happily pictured with our volunteers. Simon gave a talk on the garden each day and there were so many extra activities that made this garden sparkle in the lovely autumn weather including a large range of plant stalls, local produce, art and craft and live music. We have opened Bolobek many, many times before but once again this garden was a delight. It certainly was in its autumn glory and again you can see our smiling volunteers at the front entrance! We have one more garden opening this weekend in Euroa, Lakithi, which will also be ablaze with autumn colour. Welcome back Tyrone! 🌞 Meet the Artist: @uncededcreations Tyrone Elliott, Ancestral name Tiwuxiwulh, is a Cedar bark weaver from Snuneymuxw' and Quw'utsun. He has resided on Lekwungen territory for the past 3 years. Taught to weave by his Mother, Violet Elliott, from a very young age, Tyrone has over 20 years working with Cedar bark and other natural materials. He is currently reclaiming his language, Hul'q'umi'num, and incorporating it into his Work as he learns. Much of the Teachings that Tyrone has incorporated into his life have been derived from Cedar weaving, harvesting and other land-based Teachings. In co-facilitating with his Mother, and eventually facilitating his own workshops, Tyrone's aim has been to impart a loving connection with Cedar and the land, and also to convey how Indigenous Laws derive and correlate with and from land based Teaching such as Cedar weaving. Tyrone creates the most beautiful cedar bark woven baskets, bags, earrings and bracelets. Sakura was named by students from Centre Mountain Lellum School in Victoria, who encountered him or her during one of our education tours in spring 2023! I had the pleasure of tattooing one of my good friends, Max, the other day, and I was so excited that he wanted this little chickadee flash.
