I need to tell you the story about this photograph. Wasn't planned, but we drove Otago Peninsula to Taiaroa Head. Walked to a viewing area above the cliff face and stayed till most other people had left. A lot of mist around with sun breaking through (so difficult lighting looking West). This Southern royal albatross came in below us from the west and flew over our head by a couple of meters. Le Marais breton est un territoire aux milles trésors. Situé sur la façade Atlantique, il est majoritairement composé de zones humides, protégé par des digues et des dunes, il se trouve en grande partie sous le niveau de la mer. Ses prairies, roselières et étiers constituent un abri pour de nombreuses espèces communes et patrimoniales. L’âme en peine, un.e naturaliste ne tarde jamais à retrouver l’étincelle égarée, un vol de vanneaux, le cri d’un chevalier, l’ombre d’une libellule… C’est reparti pour la grande aventure. C’est un paradis pour les oiseaux d’eau, ils aiment y faire halte migratoire, et plus particulièrement ces merveilleuses petites boules de plumes que sont les limicoles. Ces clichés ont été pris au printemps 2023, lors d’une journée qui restera gravée dans ma mémoire. Les poussins d’avocette élégantes sont certainement dans le haut de la pyramide de migonnerie,ces petites bêtes sont nidifuges et ne tardent pas à s’éloigner du nid. Un adulte n’est jamais bien loin et sait se faire entendre à la moindre menace . Leur plumage noir et blanc et leur bec retroussé vers le haut font de ces oiseaux des entités impossibles à confondre! Les ambiances, la lumière, l’air de l’océan et la richesse en biodiversité font du Marais un territoire exceptionnel à mes yeux. Je vous invite à aller vous y perdre.
