🇬🇧 Trolleybuses at the Black Country Living Museum 🇬🇧 Good morning from the Black Country Living Museum. It is a lovely museum which shows history and life back in the past in the West Midlands, and is definitely worth a visit. Anyway, here's DUK 833, a lovely Sunbeam W4 Park Royal (rebodied by Roe in the 1950s) trolleybus that is currently preserved at the museum. It was built in 1946 and was vehicle n. 433 for the Wolverhampton Corporation. It ran regularly until 1967, as the trolleybus system in Wolverhampton was closed, despite being onenof the most extensive in Britain, with 14 routes and 173 vehicles. With this post, for the first time a British trolleybus makes an appearance. I spoke to one of the museum staff and he told me that they have another two trolleybuses, former Walsall n. 866 and Bradford n. 731, which seem to be in working order. Sadly, trolleybuses at the museum haven't run in a while too. I will also post about the two other preserved buses I saw later on. The last trolleybus system in Britain closed in 1972 and since then no trolleybus system is active in Britain save for museums. Besides, following the closure of Auckland's system, there are sadly no more active trolleybus system in countries driving on the left. In any case, @bclivingmuseum deserves a visit at least once in a lifetime. Last of our Midlands visits as it's back home tomorrow 😢 going to miss my family but we have had the best time and it's going to be a more regular thing.
