Until 1917, matriculation examination was the entrance exam of the University of Helsinki, which explains why the Finnish student caps have golden cockades depicting the lyre of Apollo, the insignia of the University of Helsinki. The Finnish student cap was introduced in its present form in the 1870s. Until the 1950s, university students usually wore the cap during the whole summer holiday of the university, from vappu (May Day) until the end of September. Festivities in @freilichtmuseum_stuebing called for Rococo dress. I wore my possibly oldest and my newest things: the light yellow jacket was made I believe in 2017 and borrowed to a friend until recently. I'm more than happy that it still fits that well as most is handsewn. Though maybe I should wear it as polonaise, as it has not that much fabric in the back? The petticoat (which is far too long) and apron (which is a bit short but nevermind) is from the new sets I'm making out of the book "Gewand und Stand" - you remember the poll I've made? I had no time to finish the upper garments yet though. The coif is from Upper Styria, but a new later one is also just in production. Idag är det 1a maj och många njuter av en ledig dag - som idag dessutom är underbart varm och solig! Arbetarrörelsen hade redan sedan 1880-talet demonstrerat på 1a maj och kämpat för framförallt 8-timmarsdagen, och 1939 blev 1a maj allmän helgdag i Sverige. Det blev också den första helgdagen i Sverige utan religiös anknytning. Varför inte passa på att besöka ett arbetarhem från 1930-talet? I Arbetarbostaden bodde familjen Andersson, Nils och Siri, med sina två barn Ninne och Siv. Nils hade närt en dröm om att bli folkskollärare, men han (eller hans föräldrar) hade inte ekonomi att bekosta en utbildning så han arbetade istället som målare för att försörja sin familj. Men han älskade att läsa och sägs jämt haft en bok i handen. Det finns gott om böcker i familjens hem. Nils var också fackligt engagerad. Siri var utbildad sömmerska men valde att stanna hemma som hemmafru, med det styva arbetet att sköta allt i hemmet - matlagning, städning, barnen, sy och underhålla kläder, sylta och safta etc. För att dryga ut kassan hyrde familjen under några år ut ett av sina två rum i den lilla lägenheten, men när andra barnet kom fick studenten flytta ut. I wasn't sure I would like Eduardo Chillida's sculptures based solely on the pictures I saw of his works displayed in the Chillida-Leku open air museum near San Sebastian in the Basque country, but once I was there, the more time I spent in their company, admiring their shapes, the way they played with space, light and shadow, the more entranced I became with them. It's also I suppose one of the reasons why I will never be satisfied with seeing just pictures of artworks. In Illerbeuren kreuzen sich zwei Fernradwege. Der Illerradweg führt von Ulm nach Oberstdorf. Nach Illerbeuren fahrt ihr aus Richtung Ulm über Aitrach und Kardorf. Aus Richtung Oberstdorf fahrt ihr über Altusried und Lautrach. Die Wegstrecke könnt ihr auch vorher planen über www.illerradweg.de . 🇮🇸 / 🇬🇧 Í Hafnarsmiðjunni, sem var reist árið 2019, má finna eimreiðina Pionér og gufuvaltarann Bríeti, nefnd eftir Bríeti Bjarnhéðinsdóttur. Eimreiðin Pionér er önnur tveggja eimreiða sem fluttar voru til landsins vegna hafnargerðarinnar í Reykjavík, árin 1913-17. Sú fyrri Minør kom til landsins í mars 1913 og fóru bæjarfulltrúar og aðrir gestir í fyrstu ferðina þann 17. apríl. Um sumarið kom Pionér til landsins og voru eimreiðarnar notaðar við flutning á möl og grjóti vegna gerðar hafnargarðanna tveggja. Eimreiðarnar voru notaðar áfram næstu árin, m.a. til vöruflutninga sem og frekari stækkunar hafnarinnar. Gufuvaltarinn Bríet var keyptur frá Englandi 1912 og var fyrstur sinnar tegundar til að flytjast til landsins. Knud Zimsen bar málið upp í bæjarstjórn og naut stuðnings Bríetar Bjarnhéðinsdóttur, sem var ein fjögrura kvenna sem unnið höfðu sæti í bæjarstjórn 1908, í fyrstu kosningunum sem konur máttu taka þátt í. The Engine House was built in 2019 as a special exhibition space to house two steam-powered engines, both of which played essential roles in the development of Reykjavík during the 20th century. The locomotive Pionér is one of two locomotives imported to Iceland to construct Reykjavík Harbour between 1913-17. Minør was imported in March 1913. Town council members and other guests took the first trip on the train on 17 April. Pionér came in the summer. The locomotives were used to transport sand and rocks for two harbour walls. After the construction, the locomotives were used for freight and further enlarging the harbour. The steam-roller Bríet was brought from England in 1912 and was the first of its kind in Iceland. Knud Zimsen brought up the matter of buying it with the town council and got support from Bríet Bjarnhéðinsdóttir. 🍾 60 Jahre Freilichtmuseum Vogtsbauernhof 📅 1982 👋 Das nach Vorbild des Reeshanselhofs in Hofsgrund errichtete Schauinslandhaus konnte nun von den Museumsgästen besichtigt werden. Für die Besucher gab es damit einen Haustyp zu besichtigen, der mit der Unterbringung des Brunnenschopfes unter dem Hausdach eine ganz eigene Idee verfolgte. 🌾 Dass ein Gebäude nie für immer in ein und demselben Zustand eingefroren werden kann, sondern zu seinem Erhalt ständig auch restaurativ gepflegt werden muss, wurde 1982 sehr augenfällig, als der Vogtsbauernhof neu eingedeckt werden musste. 😄 Erstmals wurde in diesem Jahr auch diskutiert, dass ein Architekturmuseum, als welches das Freilichtmuseum in seinen Anfängen gedacht war, von sich aus wenig Lebendigkeit vermittelt.
