Probably the only photo I’ve ever seen of Lana knitting (1944). The second photo was published in March 1941 but Lana’s hair is dark & she’s with Bob Stack so I’d say it’s circa 1939-1940. Some soldiers received a request/wish from their star of choice. The Katyn massacre was a series of mass executions of nearly 22,000 Polish military officers and intelligentsia prisoners of war carried out by the Soviet Union, specifically the NKVD („People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs”, the Soviet secret police) in April and May 1940. Though the killings also occurred in the Kalinin and Kharkiv prisons and elsewhere, the massacre is named after the Katyn forest, where some of the mass graves were first discovered by German Nazi forces. In their memory, ribbons of the Polish (white and red) flags were placed on the fence of a primary school. One of my favourite graphic novels is Peter panzerfaust. A re telling of Peter Pan and the lost boys by Kurtis j Wiebe and Tyler Jenkins. Set in 1940 during the occupation of France an American boy saves the boys from an orphanage to escape France.the story is told by Peter as a veteran of the war. Been a while since I’ve read it so bit hazy on the details but you get the idea. Piero Bruno Hugo Fontana (Buenos Aires, 30 de noviembre de 1912 – Ib., 13 de agosto de 1989), más conocido como Hugo del Carril, fue un productor, director de cine, actor, guionista y cantante argentino. Inició su carrera como actor y cantante de estribillos de tangos a los quince años y posteriormente formó el «Trío París» junto a Emilio Castaing y Martín Podestá. En los años 1930 hizo dúo con un cantor amigo hasta la muerte de este años después, además de estudiar taquigrafía.
