It’s not often you get to do art with someone who is such an embodied artist at such a young age! River and his mom Frankie came over yesterday to play in my studio and do blind contour drawings. when I pulled out the red blue and yellow to give a little lesson on primary colors, River looked at me and said “oh the primary colors.” As though I needed to teach him. People could choose whether they wanted blind or regular contour, pen or brush. This is the first time I have ever done something like this. I wanted to do something that made me uncomfortable and challenged me. I did this sitting next to the teens from the drawing class who were selling their art for the first time and LIVE drawing in front of people! Change of scenery for doing my art today. I'm sitting at the kitchen island doing some blind & modified line contour drawings of my flowers while my daughter bakes a cake. For these, I'm just using coloured pencils. These don't often get chosen to be used in my art sessions, so it was a nice change. I always love doing these simple sketches, having them all messy and find it's quite freeing to not get all precious about what the page will look like.
