His love of filmmaking started as a young kid growing up in rural Manitoba, where the longest season of the year was winter, and where editing snowboarding videos became his passion. Born in Soviet Russia, Andre witnessed the collapse of the Soviet Union, the painful transition to democracy and then the beginning of a seemingly pleasant transformation into dictatorship of a once great nation. When he realized there was no happily ever after for him there he decided to move to Canada. After moving to Canada he discovered his new passion: acting. He always loved playing video games, especially story driven single player games. And what he loved most about those games was the ability to become someone else. To think like another person, feel like another person. And once he tried acting he realized that it’s the ultimate form of a video game where you actually become a character. And he immediately fell in love with it. Being able to speak Russian fluently and having an authentic Russian accent, Andre usually portrays Eastern European “bad” guys. You may find him playing a mercenary commander in The X-Files, or an assassin in Riverdale, or a mafia boss in The Recruit. And while he’d be happy to have an opportunity to show that Russians are so much more than just stereotypical villains, he doesn’t mind giving life to those types of characters. Meet The Filmmakers! Ken Kabatoff is a filmmaker with over fifteen years of production experience in the film/TV industry, having played an integral role on over one hundred episodes of television. In 2016, Ken joined the writing staff of the Netflix series, Travelers, where he became a co-producer over three seasons. In April 2020, Ken was nominated for a Writers Guild of Canada award in the category “Best Drama” for one of his episodes in the final season of Travelers.
