And now for something a little different! Normally I'm all about that data, and today we're going to talk about something for which I have zero data - pin trading. As an adult, I've never been into the whole pin trading thing. But it can be a great, cheap souvenir for young kids. Something that gives them a "thing" to walk away with from almost every gift shop ... without spending additional money each time. If your kids are like mine and fall in love with something at every single store - this can be a lifesaver. You can just buy some lanyards for holding pins if you want. Or you can go a step further and buy some corkboard and plastic headbands from your local craft store and get crafty with your glue gun. And it's easy to buy a cheap lot of pins on Amazon as a starter kit of pins to trade away for more desirable or fun pins in the parks. I made these two sets of ears in about 30 minutes. One has blue foam on the back, and the other has purple, so we can quickly tell them apart. And I edged the ears in ribbon too. I bought a bag of 20 random Disney pins for $5, and then the girls had freedom to trade whatever they wanted to get pins that delighted them. Bonus - pin trading gets you more interactions with some of the amazing cast members that help make vacations magical. Our birthday kid regularly got offered bonus pins thanks to her celebration button, and many cast members have great stories to tell or questions to ask kids to learn more about them.

**deep breath in** Remember that time we celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando because it as close to being in Italy as we were going to get and they gave us celebration buttons so everyone told us Happy Anniversary and were so kind and we took a selfie of us on a scooter that is bolted to the ground and it’s the best picture ever then we went to dinner which was delicious and the sweet man with the guitar played and sang “Senza Fine” and now I consider it our song but it probably didn’t mean quite as much to you but that’s okay because I still almost always beat you at Men In Black: Alien Attack so it’s even and acting like twenty-somethings was the perfect way to celebrate 20 years of marriage? Let’s talk Disney celebration buttons! Did you know that you could get these FREE buttons if you are celebrating anything during your trip? 🎊🥳 We love them because Disney LOVES a celebration! If you are sporting a celebration button, you are more likely to get a touch of “pixie dust” from cast members, and even characters! If a cast member knows you are celebrating something at a restaurant, they will likely bring you a special dessert. If a character notices you’re celebrating, they will probably celebrate with you during your interaction! ✨ They currently have “First Visit” buttons, “I’m Celebrating:” buttons “Happy Birthday” buttons, and “Happily Ever After” buttons. You can have a cast member personalize your button to the occasion, as they always have sharpies on hand! 🎊✨ You can find these buttons in all the parks, in several locations. They can be found at Guest Relations, the front desk of your Disney Resort, and occasionally cast members will hand them out in the early morning hours on Main Street.
